Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Aquarius (Aqua) is a 5-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing around 13 pounds. She is a well-behaved, happy, calm dog. She loves people and dogs wagging her tail as soon as she sees him/her. Aqua is an “everyone” type of dog equally compatible with and equally loving all members of her foster family (woman, man, older child, friends). She gives huge greetings when a foster family member arrives home and to any guests that come in the front door even when just meeting them. Walking…walking…walking – Aqua is accustomed to walking on a leash and asks for her daily walks. She gets so excited when a leash is picked up and runs toward the front door. Even when her foster mother is putting on tennis shoes or a jacket to go somewhere Aqua thinks it means she gets to go on an adventure walk. She tends to bark at dogs along the way but warms up once she meets them. Running or exploring in the backyard is her next favorite thing to do. She will look longingly out the porch door when she wants to go out. She also enjoys riding in the car knowing she is going somewhere fun (she will even jump in the car when doors are open, such as unloading groceries). If Aqua sees a dog bed she immediately takes possession of it. And if there is another dog bed in the area, she goes from one to another. She likes to be covered up by a blanket so will bury herself inside of one. The sofa is also something she considers hers wanting to lay on it especially the armrest fitting on there since she is small. If a person sits down, she will jump on his/her lap or snuggle beside him/her until he/she gets up. Aqua’s goal is to be where the action is whether it is in a specific room in the foster home or the kitchen where food is prepared. An active family would be ideal for Aqua since she has a lot of energy. She is a great co-worker taking naps during her foster mom’s online meetings and is a great television watcher curling up in the chair next to foster dad. She came into the 4LD rescue due to a change in the owner’s health that caused her to not be able to care for her dogs anymore. They had Aqua since she was a puppy and took excellent care of her. She is used to living with another older dog and a cat. The average lifespan for this breed of dog is 15 years; therefore, Aqua’s adopter will need to be prepared to keep her for around 9 more years so she will not have to move to a different home again. Aqua’s adoption fee is $515. This dog comes microchipped, spayed, up to date on all necessary vaccines/rabies shots, and heartworm tested being negative. She is currently being fostered in the Plant City, Florida area. ***We are a foster-based rescue with no shelter or facility to view our dogs, and our address is a mailing address only. Please be patient as we are an all-volunteer rescue, and our rescue dogs are in various loving foster homes throughout West-Central Florida. As a general rule we try to limit our adoptions to within the state of FL. If interested in one of our dogs, please fill out a foster or adopt application at www.4luckydogs.org, and we will contact you by phone/text if we feel your application is the best fit out of the ones received.*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 24, 2025, 8:54 am
