Story
Look who’s ready for a forever home! Our sweet little Minnie! You may remember we rescued her from a local shelter after receiving an urgent plea. Her previous family could not afford the necessary medical care to treat a huge mammary tumor. Thanks to your donations, she had two surgeries and has fully recovered. Minnie is a 12 year old, 10lbs Chihuahua and she is a very sweet and affectionate little girl. She loves her humans and meeting new people and enjoys their attention. Our little peanut is a classic lap dog and will cuddle extra close during thunderstorms. Minnie has great house manners and has staked out HER favorite dog beds in the house. She sleeps tight over night and is such a trooper in the morning when it’s time for her daily dry eye drops. Now that Minnie has recovered she is loving the chance to get outdoors with her people - taking walks, playing in the yard and rides in the car! She is a great traveling companion. Minnie does ok with her foster doggie siblings but she can be sensitive if they get too close to her beds or toys and she will let them know it. She doesn’t like to be left out though so she will check out what’s going on even when it includes barking. LOL We don’t know about cats or kids. If you would like to give Minnie the wonderful life she deserves, please complete an application through our website, www.floridacockerrescue.org. Her ADOPTION fee is $200.

Story
Everyone say hi to TACO, a cute and silly chihuahua/xolo mix puppy . This little man is all of 5 months old and weighs 5 1/2 lbs so we would expect him to weigh about 10 lbs full grown. Taco is ALL puppy so he is of course playful, energetic and in need of basic training :-)----but then again what healthy puppy isn't all that!? Taco, like his sister Tequila ( also available for adoption) , loves toys and is crate trained ...and did we mention he is VERY LOVING...yup--this little guy loves to cuddle , snuggle and give puppy kisses LOL. If interested in giving Taco a loving and forever home please fill out an application at www.floridacockerrescue.org ADOPTION FEE: $300.00

Story
CALLING ALL DOG WHISPERERS- Everyone welcome Sweet Pea- or Swee Pea as her foster mommy likes to call her. Swee Pea is a 5 year old/9 lb chihuahua girl looking for a very special home/person that will be patient with her and give her the time to learn to trust again. She came from a hoarding situation and is afraid of everything at first, so she needs that special DOG WHISPERER HUMAN that can show her how special she is and help her gain back her self confidence. Swee Pea really wants to trust and be loved...when her foster mom comes into the room she runs towards her as if to say " hi it's me Swee Pea- pick me up!"- but then just as quickly she retreats...BUT once she is in your arms and held lovingly she will relax and start to melt into the cuddle. Swee Pea LOVES other dogs and we think it'd be great if she were to go to a home with another fur-kid around to show her the ropes- but most importantly for her is that one -on-one human attention she desperately needs and wants. Swee Pea will need a secured/contained area to run around in as she is not leash trained - we are hoping in time that will change but or now that is a requirement. If interested in adopting Swee Pea please fill out an application at www.floridacockerrescue.org ADOPTION FEE: $300.00

Story
Hey there, potential crime partner! I'm Tiana and I've been hanging with my friend Salomon, and we've become the Bonnie and Clyde of Cape Coral Animal Shelter, and the dynamic duo with hearts of gold (eventually). We adore each other but are not bonded, so while we'd make a killer team adopted together, we can also go our separate ways if need be. We’re not going to sugarcoat it – we’re absolute jerks to most people at first. Think of us as little mobsters in furry suits. It’ll probably take more than one meet and greet before you can even touch us. But don’t let that scare you off! With time, patience, and a little bit of bribery (treats, please!), we'll decide you're our person, and then you'll see just how loving we can be. Once we’re comfortable, we’ll be your most loyal companions. However, if you plan to have company over, it might be best to put us in another room or our crates. We might just revert to our mobster ways and give your guests the cold shoulder (or sharp teeth). If you’re ready for the challenge and want to join our gang, we promise to fill your life with mischief, love, and endless entertainment. Ready to take on one or both of us? We’re waiting!
