I was surrendered to an amazing rescue with my friend and he was adopted - happy for him and totally okay being separated. I was adopted once, but returned after being bitey and not settling in. My foster mom has been working with me and she says that I am still pretty skittish, but becoming more brave everyday. I won't let her pick me up, or pet me very often, but I'm learning that those things aren't so bad. I will run up to her and give her hand kisses, steal her warm spot on the sofa, and take treats and food from her hand. My ideal home is safe and secure with a fenced in yard, no kids, and patient parents that understand I am still a work in progress. I like other dogs, but don't have to have a dog friend. I haven't met a cat yet, but maybe they would be cool. I like to be treated like a princess- I like your attention, and I claim the couch as my throne. And, well, they say I kinda look like a potato, but. I don’t see the resemblance. Yes, I need to lose around 10lbs and I can’t walk too far without having to stop and lay down. I can’t really do stairs, either. I am starting to learn to go up them, though. Just too scared to try going down them yet. I love, love, love attention. My foster mom says I have a lot of personality. I like to look in her eyes when she talks to me, and I talk to her by whining or whimpering. I am learning to use a leash, but it kinda scares me. I am good with other dogs-big, small, male, female. I am house-trained and don’t need a crate when you are gone. I don’t like a house with a lot of activity and guests in and out because it makes me feel a little anxious. I need a family that: 1. Will let me claim my throne on the couch 2. Sleep in the bed with you 3. Make me the center of their world 4. Is patient and gentle. I am sensitive and timid. 5. Leah Lady is a 12-year-old 14lb Terrier mix. Leah Lady is very sassy and alpha and doesn’t act her age. She’s timid and skittish when meeting new people and needs time to warm up. But what a love once she’s comfortable. She is house-trained in her foster home and does well in her crate. Her hearing is excellent, and she is a barker. In the yard, she runs around barking at birds and any neighbor or their dog that happens to appear. She also barks at Thunder!! Lady can not live in an apartment or condo. The lady appears to have had little socialization and enjoys her new experiences, especially walking. Younger children make her nervous. She does better with teens, but it takes time. She would do fine as an only dog. She’s very affectionate, and it’s all about her. I have two other dogs, and she wants a lot of attention. Lady loves toys but doesn’t like to share, and neither does my other foster, so unfortunately, there are no toys. She doesn’t resource guard with me but apparently will with another dog. She may be okay with another dog, depending on its disposition. She likes my other dog, and there are no issues with it, but he’s 14. Lady is blind in her left eye from a large cataract. She sees well out of her right eye, though there is also a smaller cataract in the left eye. The pressure in the left eye will need to be monitored. She also had a mammary tumor removed with her spay. It was cancerous, but the margins were clear, and her chest X-ray was good. This will also need to be monitored. The frequency should be every 6 to 12 months, depending on the adopter's vet’s best practice. Meet the precious and very special, Lucy Ann, a spunky 5-year-old Chinese Crested mix who weighs just 6 pounds! Lucy came to us from a less than ideal situation, and we’ve been working on building her strength and increasing her weight. She was born with a wobbly front leg, but she doesn’t let that stop her from dancing for dinner! As she gets stronger, she has learned to master climbing the stairs and running in the yard, but she needs to be carried downstairs to accommodate her imbalance. Luckily, she’s a petite little girl and easy to carry around. This girl loves her people, gets along well with other dogs, and would love nothing more than a soft bed and a couch to cuddle on! Lucy is working on her manners, potty-training and leash walking. She’s doing well with all three but will need further help in her new home.
