Story
Dasher is a 2 year old chihuahua/ mini poodle mix. He was found as a stray in Arizona. He is extremely loving towards people and children and plays well with small-medium size dogs. He has lived with a cat with no issues, but a slow and safe introduction is necessary. He knows basic commands, but is an aggressive puller on the lead. He is an active and high-energy dog that LOVES playing fetch. He gets territorial over his ball especially if another dog steals it, but he has NO bite record- only barking to chase away dogs in his personal space. He has separation anxiety, thus he needs someone that can handle an anxious pup and has the ability to train him. Dasher is a dog that is filled to the brim with love and is a perfect fit for a family with another active, friendly dog! He is such a sweet boy!!

Story
Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. Located in Decatur, IL Say hello to Neon! This guy was formerly a stud in a puppy mill but he has left that world behind him! Neon is a loyal guy that loves the ladies! He follows foster mom everywhere and has even jumped in the shower to be with her! He has just started to play and currently his favorite friend is the handsome pup that looks back at him in the stove's shiny surface! He can keep himself pretty entertained! Neon is mostly good with other dogs but sometimes his chi attitude presents itself and he gets jealous and doesn't want to share a lap. It's all just for show and hasn't done anything. Little dogs and big attitudes seem to go hand in hand with chihuahua breed. Neon is a master at being a lap dog and just wants a person to love! Neon's adoption is $375. He is neutered, current on vaccines, microchipped and on flea and heart worm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for next steps! PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing. All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application. We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet. Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where there is someone home frequently (works from home or a partner is home), can adequately socialize and train the puppy, and can keep up with puppy energy!

Story
Skip! Skippity doodah is a 12-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua mix. Skip's dad sadly away. Now Skip is hoping someone will give him a new home. He is truly adorable, timid but sweet, and loves to give kisses once he knows you. Skip is good on a leash, fine in a crate, quiet in the car, and would be okay with other laid back dogs. But, young kids and really rambunctious dogs would be too much for him. Skip likes to cuddle, but is willing to play too. He's the perfect balance of fun and calm. Skip is now our longest resident, and we aren't sure why. :,( He decided to advocate for himself with these words: "Hey you! My name's Skip. But you can call me Skipper because I'm in need of a first mate. I'm a fair weather skipper so I like naps and rolling in the yard when it's sunny and warm, but limit my time outside if it's rainy or cold. I can be a big sweetheart. So, If you want to put me in your lap I'll give you plenty of kisses and I always appreciate a snuggly nap. Dog beds are a MUST, so make sure those are always available... a skipper needs his beauty rest. I'm really good in a crate and am happy to nap in there too. As much as I love to nap, I also REALLY love to go on walks! Like any skipper, I have a few quirks. I'm nervous around strangers (who isn't??). Things that shouldn't scare me make me jump (doors closing or stepping on crackly leaves). Things that SHOULD scare me I ignore (Roomba's, moving vehicles, lawnmowers). All that to say, I know once you meet me you will look past any of my quirks. Now be an obedient first mate, and use those big paws to fill out an application and come work for me... your trustworthy Skipper. Sound like a match for you? Then, please apply: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $245. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. We are located in Bloomington, IL We do not ship, you would need to travel to pick up your babies if you live out of state. Your current pets must be up-to-date on core vaccines, spayed/neutered, and on heart worm prevention year round. You must be at least 21-years-old to adopt. Story
Bugsy Malone is a chiweenie (Chihuahua/dachshund) who is 8-pounds and 7-years-old. Bugsy has the typical big Doxie voice, so he shouldn't go anywhere with shared walls (I.e apartments, condos). He likes to cuddle, will play with other small dogs and toys, watch television while in your lap, walks well on a leash, and likes to cruise around in the car with you. But, he needs a really secure harness as he is a Houdini with many harnesses. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $295. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. Story
Louie is a fun, sweet, adorable Chihuahua mix. He's 2-years-old, and weighs 11-pounds. Louie gets along with people, kids, dogs, cats, and birds! He is okay on car rides, walks, and being crated. He will beg for attention all day if you don't give it to him. Essentially, he wants to be your lap dog. Louie does use his voice, so a home with no shared walls is ideal (I.e no apartments or condos). He has totally ingratiated himself with his foster family, and would happily bond with yours very quickly also. Please give Louie the forever home he deserves. You will feel like the luckiest to have him in your life. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $325. Story
Taz is a 1-year-old Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix. He's a very thin 8-pounds, but he's already filling out with good food and lots of love. Taz was terrified at animal control, and with his foster for the first couple of days. He needs to figure out you're not trying to hurt him, and then he will come BEGGING for the love and belly rubs. He still gets a little overstimulated at times. So, you just have to follow his signals. He will crawl into your lap and lick your face until you're sure you have no face left. Ha! No young children in the home please. This poor guy has suffered enough in his short life. All he needs is a loving home with pawrents who can continue to help his trust of people grow every day. Taz gets along well with other small dogs, is pretty quiet so far, and rides fine in a car. He does well on a leash also. Taz has really come out of his shell. He loves playing with other small dogs, and has filled out nicely. He is now a healthy 10-pounds. This young cutie is going to make someone very happy! Apply today Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $325. Story
Cooper is a distinguished, 9-pound, older gentleman. He's used to children and other small dogs. However, he can be a little shy upon first meeting. Words, and photos, cannot properly describe how cute this little man's face is. He likes to roam around a fenced yard, sleep in, and basically just chill with you. Cooper is potty trained as long as he's taken out every 3-4 hours. He previously slept in a crate overnight, so no need for potty breaks while you sleep. If there has not been illness of his lifelong dad, he would not be looking for a new home. Cooper is said to be a Chihuahua/Terrier mix. He came his brother Sheldon. But, the boys are not bonded. We just know there are people out there who love the older pups as much as we do. This bud deserves to be pampered throughout his golden years. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $245.
