Story
Macadamia is a 1 ½-year-old Chihuahua with a big personality packed into a tiny frame! This sweet and affectionate little pup bonds quickly with her person and loves to be by your side—literally. This spunky and active pup is always on the move—until you sit down, and then she’s ready to settle in for snuggles. She absolutely loves toys, enjoys playing fetch, and is a fan of chewing on bones and antlers. She’s also very food-motivated, which makes training a breeze! She’s already working on commands and has almost mastered `sit.`Macadamia does well in a crate when left alone, but she’s still working on housebreaking. Right now, she’s pee pad trained and isn’t a fan of going outside—especially in cold weather! As the temperatures rise, we think she’ll get more comfortable exploring the outdoors. She would do best in a home with a submissive and tolerant small dog companion, as she has a dominant streak and isn’t afraid to take on bigger dogs. She can also be a little protective of her person, so continued training and correction will be important. Because of her tendency to be underfoot and guard her person, Macadamia requires an adult only home. Macadamia is still learning about the world, including how to walk on a leash and how to settle in the car—a crate or seatbelt harness is recommended for car rides. She’s a little dog with a big heart and an even bigger personality, looking for a patient and loving family to help her continue growing into the best version of herself. If interested in learning more about busy Macadamia or scheduling a meet and greet, please email our foster team at foster@cuyahogacounty.gov today! Please note Macadamia is currently residing in a foster home and not available for same day meet and greets.

Story
Meet Buddy Carter! This 10-pound Chihuahua may be small, but he’s got a whole lot of love to give — once he feels safe. At 7 years old, Buddy is a shy and sensitive guy who’s still learning that the world isn’t so scary. He’s looking for a calm, low-traffic home with patient people who will give him the time and space he needs to come out of his shell.Buddy would do best in an adult-only home where things stay quiet and predictable. He’s shown potential to get along with other dogs and even cats, as long as introductions are slow and gentle. With a little patience and understanding, Buddy Carter will learn to trust — and once he does, you’ll get to see just how sweet and special he really is.If you’re someone who believes good things are worth the wait, Buddy Carter just might be the perfect match for you! Could you be the one to show him how wonderful life can be?

Story
Calling all little dog lovers! Meet our little Daisy. Daisy is a female Chihuahua that is 2.5 years old (DOB 6-24-22) and weighs around 5 pounds. Daisy was surrendered to the shelter by her owner after he could no longer care for her. We are looking for a Chihuahua-experienced home that understands the nervous nature of little dogs. Daisy is a very nervous and scared little girl that takes a while to warm up to you. Once she accepts you, she will seek you out for loving and allow you to pick her up. We would love for her to have a fenced in yard so she can explore and run around all day. Daisy can be skittish so a fenced in yard would be very helpful in containing her. A low-traffic home would be ideal for Daisy. Daisy lived with other chihuahuas in her previous home. A canine companion may be very beneficial for her and help her feel more at ease. Daisy has also been wonderful with cats and children. Older children would be preferred. As always, a meet and greet with any resident dogs is required. Daisy is available for our foster to adopt program which means you can foster her in your home until she finishes vetting which includes spay, vaccines, heartworm testing, and a microchip. Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Daisy. Daisy`s adoption fee is $250.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ONE FREE TRAINING SESSION WITH ADOPTIONACTIVE EXPERIENCED ADOPTER NEEDED Beau The Barbarian here, I was surrendered  to the rescue by my family, because I was nipping at the younger children. There were far too many children(6) to pick on me. I've been with my foster mom for a year now and I think we have a few things straightened out, regarding what kind of a home I need. I need an off the grid owner. Do you growl at children? I getcha. Nothing wrong with  that, as long as you stay away from the little monsters. Are you a private person,me too. I'm currently living in a quiet country home with a fenced yard where I can expend some energy chasing the squirrels. We have a routine and infrequent visitors. There are other little dogs here and we get along fine, but I do not like strange dogs and would be best as an only pet. I like to play with  squeaky toys, rope toys and nyla bones, am reliably house and crate trained and love to ride in the car and snuggle with foster mom when our day is done.  I will be 3 years old soon, weigh 19.5 lbs. and have the cutest underbite. I am healthy, low maintenance, caught up on all my vaccinations and heart worm negative. I am VERY REACTIVE to new people and situations(stranger danger) and will bark and show fear aggression. I can be worked through this, if you have experience at socializing reactive dogs. It will be a work in progress to help me. IF YOU HAVE A QUIET HOME, WITH NO CLOSE NEIGHBORS OR CHILDREN, we could be best friends. I would love my very own human being buddy. We could share beers and stories. Please see lots of pictures  and more about me on my Facebook page under Rose's Rescue Facebook. Did I mention I am very smart(and cute!)?  If interested, you can easily fill out an adoption application by clicking here:  adoption application For anyone viewing this on Petfinder, if you are interested in adopting this animal you will need to go to our website  www.rosesrescue.net  to fill out the online adoption application.
