Story
Ollie checking in! This little guy had his vetting updated recently and we have been trying to figure out what behavioral concerns he may have after he was returned several months ago. It appears he is a typical high energy, bossy chi who “play bites” and growls. (like many of them do). He and his brother from another mother slept, ate, and shared a crate in the temporary spot he was in when we sprung him back in December. He may guard his food and want to eat in peace now so something to be aware of. It might be advisable to feed him and give him treats separately if he is in a home with another dog. Because he wasn’t on a leash for a while he is working on remastering that as well. As you can see, he is good in the car and his favorite pastime is rounding up all the toys and trying to remove the squeakers. Chihuahuas were bred for companionship, pest control (rodents mostly) and to be watchdogs. They are vocal little dogs and will keep you on your toes. Ollie prefers dogs his size over large one, isn’t a big fan of the vet, and likes to be a lap dog. He could be an only dog as long as he gets plenty of exercise and stimulation. He can be in a group of dogs supervised but remember he is large and in charge. (In his mind). Ollie will try to be the boss so will need a patient, experienced person to be in charge and show him rules. If he doesn't like something he could try and bite. His foster is working on this. He hated the crate at first but now is starting to go in with positive reinforcement. He hates being brushed and will show his displeasure. He went to the groomers for a bath and was fine with them. Ollie needs a strong leader who will work with Ollie and give him what he needs. NO KIDS. Ollie is around two years old and under 15 pounds. Ollie is probably not a good apartment dog as he is vocal as stated above. Chihuahua experience is a plus. Ollie is high energy and can develop unwanted behavior if he doesn’t get enough exercise and stimulation. Ollie is completely vetted, neutered, up to date on vaccines and preventatives, fecal tested, and heartworm negative. He just received a 6-month Heartworm prevention injection also. (Proheart) Ollie came to us from the county shelter after his owner could no longer care for him. He is in Myrtle Beach, SC. $200.00 adoption donation. Approved application, home visit, and $200 adoption donation required.

Story
My owner had me living outside and could no longer care for me. I'm a very lovable little guy 99% of the time. I love to go on walks and strut my stuff. I can be very cuddly with the right person. I prefer the ladies. Only those experienced with Chihuahua breed will be considered to adopt. Jay will sometimes growl and snap at new people and new situations. He does not do well with barriers such as being in a crate and will try to bite you if you are trying to put him in a crate. If you are interested in adopting Jay, please call 843-427-4388 to talk with staff that know him. He can do very well, in the right home! Adopters must be 23 years old.

Story
Hi my name is Panda and up until now I’ve not had an easy life. I have not told my foster family everything that happened but I did tell them that I recently had a litter of puppies and lost all but one of them because I was not given enough food myself to make milk to feed my babies. The one baby I did manage to save is thriving thankfully. My foster family says I am shy and timid with good reason but they also tell me that I am the sweetest, funniest most engaging girl once I start to trust you. I will need a family that will understand they need to keep me safe and secure while I learn to trust you…please be patient with me I’ll warm up quickly.I would probably do best in a home with older considerate kids I think small active kids might be too much…I love other dogs and ignore my kitty foster siblings though.  I am doing great at learning to potty outside and my foster momma is so proud of me for that! I am crate trained and sometimes like my crate it makes me feel safe. I’m up to date on my vaccines and spayed and thankfully I am heartworm negative (I don’t know what that means but foster momma was HAPPY). My fosters love me so much but they are so excited for me to find my forever home (again I don’t know what that means but I am trusting them). If you want to adopt me and you should because I’m a really good girl please follow the link to fill out my adoption application https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=SGVJMGQYAugust 19, 2024, 12:12 pm

Story
Max is a beautiful apprx 3 year old, 25 lb mixed breed boy. He may have some chihuahua or even some corgi? Who knows! Max had been running as a stray for 6m before he was able to be caught and taken into foster care.  Max is cat, dog and chicken friendly. He loves to snuggle on the couch as much as he loves to play with his person. Max resource guards a bit but is quickly learning that he’s safe and will always have plenty of food. Max has excellent recall, walks well on a leash, and is house/crate trained. He is up to date on vaccines, prevention, heartworm negative and neutered. His adoption fee is $250. Story
Hi my name is Koda and I’m a sweet, snuggly, sassy, wild wide open puppy. My foster mommy describes me as boisterous and funny with a sweet side bigger than I am. I’m about 5m old my momma is small but I don’t know how big my daddy was. My mom is Panda on the website. I’m up to date on my vaccines, microchipped and spayed. I’m good with other dogs, cats and kids but I am learning my boundaries so I need a forever home willing to teach me and keep me safe as I learn. I am working on potty and crate training and doing well but you will have to continue teaching me. I might be some work at first but my foster family says I’m absolutely worth it. If you are interested in adopting me and helping me learn and grow please follow the link to fill out our online adoption application https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=SGVJMGQY. My adoption fee is $400 and I am up to date on vaccines, prevention, spayed and microchipped. August 19, 2024, 12:12 pm
