Story
Meet Thomas, the lovable Lemon Walker Coonhound! This handsome boy has a striking white and tan coat and is full of personality. He's estimated to be around 5 years old and weighs in at a sturdy 70 pounds. Thomas is a classic hound dog with a heart of gold. He's incredibly sweet and friendly, always eager for a belly rub or a game of fetch. He loves spending time outdoors, whether it's going on walks or simply lounging in the yard. While he has lots of energy, Thomas is also a big softie. He knows basic commands like sit and paw and is always excited to please. Although some foods can upset his stomach, he's currently on a digestive health diet and takes fortiflora daily, which seems to help. Thomas is up-to-date on all his vaccinations, house trained, and crate trained (though he may take a few minutes to settle in). He's great with kids, being gentle and patient despite his size. He's also wonderful with other dogs and cats, making him a great addition to almost any family. Come meet Thomas and discover the joy of having a loyal and loving companion!

I am the goodest boy. I love all people. I love other dogs and cats. I walk good on a leash but I am pretty strong. I’m a hound dog with my nose to the ground but not a hunter. My last people didn’t care about me. They made me hungry all the time and they let me get heartworms. My rescue people love me. They have my heartworms treated and my belly is never empty. I don’t have to be outside in the heat, rain and cold. My angels were sent for me. They tell me my Furever Angel will come along shortly. Until then I’m living the bestest life. Demetrius is a sweet and loving 2-year-old Coonhound mix who currently weighs around 60 pounds. He is fully vetted and ready to find his forever home! He was found as a stray before landing in the comforting arms of the Greater Charlotte SPCA. He's friendly as can be and seeks out attention. He's fully crate trained and house training.  Demetrius is easy going. He likes puzzle toys and independent play along with cuddles on the sofa. He loves to go for long leash walks and is an excellent hiking or jogging companion, too. He enjoys meeting new people and leans on anyone who is willing to spend time with him. He's cute and his forehead wrinkles are the best. Demetrius has done well with other dogs at doggie daycare and in his foster home, but would rather play with dogs his size or bigger and no cats for this handsome one!!  If you are interested in adopting Demetrius  please submit an inquiry directly with Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age. ***Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to meet/pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt.*** December 17, 2024, 9:12 am

Tav is a young hound looking for his next adventure. He walks great on the leash, and hardly pulls! But once he has someone dedicated to spending time with him and working on training together -- we know he'll do phenomenally! Tav loves our weekly hiking program and is polite on the leash and in the car! He loves playing in the pool over here at the rescue, and wouldn't mind a pool all his own one day! He also loves playing in the creek, and loves to splash around! We love it when his hound ears flop around when he's bouncing around the play yard, and we know you will too!
