Chloe is a beautiful, happy, loving girl. She is good with other dogs and cats. Also good with children but she still has puppy tendencies like jumping. Would benefit from a little training but learns quickly.

Story
With a heavy heart I’m looking to rehome my very loved coonhound. I’m looking for a good home where she can be happy. She really needs a house with a fence she can run and play in. Since she is an energetic girl she also needs someone who can give her the attention she deserves. She is the sweetest and most cuddly baby. Great with kids and chickens. She’s a very healthy girl, up to date with shots and microchipped. However, Lady Lou is a hound dog through and through. She will run away if given the opportunity, so she is not an off leash dog. She is still young so if someone knows her breed and how to train her, even better. This is a very hard decision for me. If you think you have the perfect home for her, please reach out.

Attention: This is a courtesy posting only! This pet is NOT available through Mountain Pet Rescue.  Please do NOT contact MPR for information about the pet or apply to adopt this pet on the MPR website.  Contact Leah Porter, at 602-332-8226 or email lporter357@gmail.com for more information or to adopt the pet.Meet Mullein! He’s an approximately 9-month-old coonhound mix, with the characteristic intelligence, loyalty, curiosity, stubbornness, task orientation and food motivation, with a strong bark and bay. He’s a goofball with a lot of character and a lot of love to give! He has consistent and long lasting energy, and loves to play, explore with and rest near people and dogs alike.  Mullein is very social and would do well in a home with other younger dogs. He gets very excited to see his people; he’s a great, wiggly greeter, but knows to keep his four on the floor. He really thrives out in the woods and loves to wade and explore around water, but isn’t a big swimmer. He loves and is very excited about kids, loves playing with them, giving kisses and staying attentive to them, though he does sometimes get so excited that it can be a lot for small children.  He’d be a great companion for kids over 5. However, because of his tendency towards more dominant behavior and work to be done around his resource guarding, I would not recommend he live in a house with children without vigilant supervision, adequate training and time for his humans to get to know his communication styles and triggers. He’s very excited and curious about cats, but hasn’t had the opportunity to co-exist in a home space with them for more than one short visit. He is highly food-motivated, smart, receptive and quick to learn, with a good memory; he would thrive with a job to do. He stays near and attentive off-leash on trails and open land, and has good recall for a young pup, though of course will need to keep practicing as he matures! Mullein is crate and house-trained and is solid on his basic commands and more (sit, wait, lay down, relax, leave it, “go to bed,” sitting before going through doors or outside, etc). He sleeps in his crate at night, and rests there when he’s not being taken out, engaged with, playing or watched (he’s a smart puppy with a powerful nose and really enjoys chewing!). Like most pups, Mullein thrives with a solid routine, but gets quite restless and stressed without one, and will tell you how he’s feeling. We’re in the process of training a consistent “heel” to have easy walks while on leash.  It’s hard to resist when your nose is as good as his! We’ve also been training but still struggling with resource guarding behaviors (we are hoping that his neuter will help support this work). But he has bitten me, when younger, and when I didn’t understand how to deal with and train this behavior. He hasn’t recently - since shifting training and environmental factors - but has capacity for aggressive dominance and will need someone who can afford and commit to the work and diligence of consistent training and supervision.  (I have a trainer he’s already working well with. I’d love to connect you!)Mullein’s got a lot of learning to do, but is more than up for the task and will give back every ounce of work you put in. He needs a home with more than one experienced, consistent, active and dedicated caretaker, with plenty of options and space to roam, sniff, hunt, chew and rest.He is up to date on his vaccinations and neutered! If you’re interested in learning more or meeting Mully, contact me, Leah Porter, at 602-332-8226 or email lporter357@gmail.com with questions/your availability to meet. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Story
Tucker was a rescue from Sarges in Waynesville 3 years ago, very skinny and very sad as he was a drop off in the middle of the night in the winter. He weighed only 52 lbs and was considered a 5-6 year old adult coonhound. He now weighs around 90 lbs, sweet demeanor, and silly. He needs a home without children. He is what we think to be a "failed hunting dog-turned couch potato". He does have some fears and ends up snipping at what he fears the most, being children or people in his space.(Near his face) He loves food and loves the scratches. He will steal your bed and heart. Those big ears are so floppy and soft, we mess with them everyday. We need him in a home that doesn't have small kiddos nearby. He's getting up there in age, so he needs a comfy spot with all adults that love him like we do! We cannot keep him due to his issues with kids, and we are wanting to make sure he goes to a safe place!
