Story
Hello Everyone! It’s me, Buddy! I bet you were wondering what I’ve been doing in the last 3 ½ months since I got to the Rescue. I’ve been doing A LOT! But first Ladies and Gentlemen, I have some important news… I think it’s time I started interviewing for a new family of my own. I know, right? I love my foster mom and fur brother and sisters, but I just KNOW there is some one out there JUST FOR ME! I think I’m ready to meet you and make you part of my family. Just a reminder about me, I’m 34lbs, about 5 years old, and I’m a Corgi/Dachsund mix – so I have short legs and a long nose! I’m up to date on all my shots and yes, I still hate the vet! I’m looking for a family who has no other dogs or if I really do have to share my new parents with another dog, then I prefer a larger dog that can handle my semi-rough play and can teach me what is expected of me & be understanding with me. We would just need to meet first so I know we like each other. I also would prefer a home with no young children (preferably no one under 16-18). I occasionally jump and I’m also not really trusting of these small humans. They move too fast, run around, and just make me feel very uncomfortable. Plus – they take my toys, go near my food, and sometimes accidentally hurt me. I’m sure you can understand. I need a strong but understanding parent who can be my leader but also learn to read my signals and understand my needs. It’s been a rough life and I want to share it with someone who understands I’m not perfect. I would prefer a fenced yard. I’m not that great on leash walking (I like to run ahead – it’s more fun) … But if you would take some time to teach me, I bet I would love to walk with you. I DO LOVE the car though, so buckle me in and get me a pup cup from Starbucks! Now you know what I’m looking for… ask my foster mom for my "Buddy Bio", and all about ME that I helped my foster mom write! I can't wait to hear from you! ~Buddy Email my foster mom Danielle danielleklein09@gmail.com

Story
8 year old corgi mix, got her in Colorado as a pup. She’s been a good dog but has started to growl towards our 2 year old. I can’t take a chance of her getting bit. She’s very relaxed but get anxious and jumpy towards other dogs. She is never near other dogs at all and wouldn’t try it.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Wheezy, a 16-pound Corgi mix was surrendered to the shelter when her owner became ill and could no longer care for her. At 8 years old the shelter must be quite a scary place. Wheezy was very happy to get out of the shelter with us and simply cuddled up for a nice ride home.   Wheezy is good with both dogs and cats. She is well-behaved in the home and can be left home without being destructive. The best news of all, she is housebroken. She is a great girl who is looking for a second chance with a family of her own. Wheezy has recently been diagnosed with Cushing disease which is being treated with daily medication. She is doing great with it and will make a wonderful pet for a lucky family. Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about within an hour of Wilmington, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Bandit! Bandit is a 13-year-old, 30 pound Corgi/Pug/Cattle dog mix (best guess) who came into our care when his owners passed away. It was obvious how loved he was, as he required very little vetting. Bandit received an ultrasound for slightly elevated liver values, but no problems were found. He has a slight touch of arthritis which requires daily medication to help with mobility. The cost for this is $20 a month. Bandit has good hearing, vision, and is fully housebroken. He can handle a few stairs and is fine being picked up. Due to his age, Bandit would prefer being in a home with older children or adults, so he doesn’t get bumped around too much. He is great with other dogs and cats. Bandit walks well on leash and loves taking the time to sniff all that he can sniff. He would enjoy a fenced-in yard but would also be ok with daily walks and being let out for multiple potty breaks. A person who is home part-time or who could run home during lunch breaks would be ideal. Although he prefers to sit next to you rather than in your lap, Bandit loves pets and attention. He easily sleeps through the night in his cozy dog bed. Bandit loves riding in cars and looking out windows. He enjoys when people wave to him. Bandit is a sweet and funny dog who is always making his foster family laugh. He just needs a new place to call home. Can it please be with you? Apply today!
