Story
Meet Linguica! She's been enjoying life in her active foster home, here's what they have to say about her: She is very sweet and well behaved in the home. She loves her people and wants to be by my side all the time. She's house-trained and knows basic commands. She is a quick learner and is easily redirected if you do not want her on furniture etc. I can definitely see the dachshund in her! She loves to sniff, track scents, and burrow. She also can be stubborn and is very playful! She's an active girl who really enjoys her walks. We’ve been walking about 6 miles a day which she LOVES but can become bored in the home. She would really benefit from a home who have plans for continued training, puzzle toys and regular games and interactions, and potentially kids or a dog to play with. Apply today to meet Linguica, she's waiting for you!

Story
Thank you for your inquiry. Bambi has an adopter but we have to wait for them to go pick her up after the stay-at-home is lifted. Once she is picked up we will remove her profile. Please do not write to us for an application. Sorry for any inconvenience. Bambi is extremely shy. She is approximately 1 year old and weighs just 7 lbs. Once she warms up she is very affectionate. Bambi wouldn't do well in a busy home with loud fast children because she would be scared of them. She gets along well with cats, though, and doesn't chase them. She is good with other dogs of all sizes and plays with them when she isn’t coming to you for love. She loves to cuddle up on your lap or in your bed at night! She is simply a loving little doll. Bambi is very calm and well-behaved. She is good on a leash as well. Bambi needs a quiet home without a lot of noise or strange people coming over all the time for her to feel safe and comfortable. She is very sweet and not aggressive at all, even when scared. She would do best in a home with another dog or where she has contact with her owner throughout the day. because they are home She wouldn’t do well left alone for a full workday without a canine companion. Bambi is a loyal companion once she gets to know you and will show you love and affection. She would do best with somewhere like a patio or a yard so she can go out as she does now to do her business. This little doll is a lovable, cuddly, and trusting little girl when she gets to know you. Given some time and patience, she will warm up to someone willing to give her the loving and secure home that she deserves. Bambi is being fostered in Oakland. Ca. Her adoption fee is $275.00. Arrangements to meet our dogs occur after an application has been received. Please contact us at dogzonerescue@yahoo.com for more information about this great gal or for an application to adopt.

Story
Seven year old Frida is looking for some dog people to live with that want a really affectionate, sweet dog to join them with walks, play and cuddling. Her background is sketchy at best, but she has learned to walk reasonably well on leash, gets along with other dogs on walks, has recently welcomed a visiting dog, and loves her trips to Golden Gate Park dog run. She is still initially nervous about visitors, but one treat can create a friendship. She currently sleeps in her fosters’ bed, is crate trained and does well when left alone. She has a huge appetite that needs to be watched as she would love to be a fat girl. She is now just right at 13 lbs. She has learned quite a few commands and easily fits into household daily life. She sometimes lets you know when a strange dog is passing her house but it can be minimized, and you will usually be notified of postal deliveries. By far, Frida's favorite day is being with her humans whether on a walk, in the car, visiting a store, or wherever you happen to be. As she has spent a number of months with her foster family, she comes with an offer of free boarding if you have a vacation or weekend away that can’t include a dog or just some visits. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Frida is $300. If you are interested in adopting Frida, please complete our online adoption application at  https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/  . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. November 5, 2024, 10:42 pm

Story
Wee Wellie (aka Wellington) didn't learn much about the bigger world in his first two years, so he starts off pretty timid and cautious about new people and new situations. But after just a week into being in a foster home, he's become a different dude. Bouncy, happy, and confident, he's learning how to loose-leash walk very quickly, has started playing fetch with a toy, lives for snuggles with humans, and is enjoying life!  Wellie is house trained, crate trained, and is quick to pick up new routines. He's content to curl up nearby when his foster parents are working from home, and while he can be a bit anxious, he has not yet shown any signs of destructive behaviors or excess barkiness. He spends his nights in a crate by himself, very quietly and with no accidents, but he would LOVE to sleep in your bed. And he's very respectful of his cranky senior foster sister's lack of interest in playing with him, though he'd also LOVE another playful, confident dog to teach him the ropes.  Wellie could be a good fit for almost any home where he can get plenty of exercise, stimulation, and affection. Ideally, his human siblings would be old enough to respect his tiny size and occasional timidity, and any cats would be of the confident variety, rather than ones easily terrorized by a dog who likes to chase. Wellie would thrive with a secure outdoor space to sniff and race around, but a family who can give him regular daily walks and playtime could also work well for him. He's got plenty of puppy energy and goofiness, but he is tuned into his human's voice, and he loves treats, so he is ready for some positive reinforcement training! Snuggly, affectionate, and a quick learner, this guy is a treasure!  Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Wellie is $300. Story
Archie is about 12 pounds and 2 years old. He came in with a bunch of other dogs from the same house. He is shy with people but social with dogs. Given about a week time to settle, Archie has become his foster mom's absolute shadow. He will need a person/family who will be home much of the day. Another dog would be a plus! Archie loves snuggling on the couch, chasing his canine foster sister around the lawn, he’s a great eater, and mostly potty trained with only a few accidents. He’s very treat motivated and willing to learn to make his human happy! Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Archie is $300.
