Story
Meet Mama Nelly! Say hello to Nelly, a darling 2-3yr old 14lb Dachshund-Chihuahua mix who’s as sweet as she is adorable! This beautiful, long, low, black-coated girl came to us from Fresno after a kind family rescued her as a stray. They had no idea she was pregnant, and just days later, she surprised them with six gorgeous puppies! Nelly was a fantastic mama, and now that her puppies are ready for homes of their own, it’s her turn to find her happily ever after. Nelly is a true sweetheart—dog-friendly (both big and small), kid-friendly, and an absolute cuddle bug. While she enjoys playful moments, she’s happiest as a lap companion, soaking up all the love and affection she can get. She loves sunbathing, rolling in the grass, car rides, and, of course, snuggling up with her people. Nelly is house-trained, food-motivated, and eager to please. She’s ready for a family or person to call her very own—a home where she can finally relax and enjoy being pampered. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with a heart of gold, Mama Nelly is ready to fill your life with love and joy! Could you be her perfect match? To begin the adoption process, please submit an application using the link below. Our team will carefully review it to determine if you are a suitable match for the dog you are interested in. Story
Meet Tito – The Adorable Chihuahua-Dachshund Mix Say hello to Tito, the cutest 4-pound pup with a long, low body and sleek black coat! At just 3 ½ months old, this little guy is full of spunk and puppy charm. Tito is equal parts playful and affectionate, always ready to snuggle or keep you entertained with his silly antics. He’s teething right now, so he’ll happily chew on your fingers if you let him—such a baby! Why Tito Will Steal Your Heart! Tiny and Mighty: Despite his small size, Tito has a big personality and isn’t afraid to show it. Affectionate Companion: He loves to snuggle and will happily curl up with you after a day of play. Playful and Energetic: Tito has endless energy and would thrive with a playmate to keep him company. Adorable Mix: Do you love Dachshunds with a touch of Chihuahua spunk? Tito is your perfect match! Tito’s Ideal Home House with a Yard: Tito would love a yard to explore and stretch his little legs while staying safe. Second Dog: He’d thrive as a second dog, learning the ropes from a furry sibling and having a built-in playmate. Puppy-Friendly Family: He’s still teething and learning, so patience and understanding are key as he grows into the best dog he can be. Commitment to Care:** Since Tito is still a baby, he won’t be able to safely go into public spaces for another month while he completes his vaccinations. What to Expect Full-Grown Size: Tito is expected to reach up to 10 pounds when fully grown—a perfect pint-sized companion with a big personality to match. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate pup with a little “weenie dog” charm and a lot of spunk, Tito could be your boy. Help us find this adorable little guy the loving forever home he deserves! To begin the adoption process, please submit an application using the link below. Story
Meet Rae! This sweet, shy dachshund mix is still figuring out the world around her, so she may need a little extra time to warm up to new people and places. Rae was transported out of LA to create room for pets being displaced by the wildfires. She is a gentle soul, and though she's a bit cautious at first, she quickly begins to show her loving side once she feels comfortable and safe. She's looking for a patient, understanding home where she can continue to grow at her own pace. She'll need someone who can provide a calm environment and gentle guidance as she learns to trust and explore. Once she feels secure, you'll see her true, sweet nature shine. Story
Seven year old Frida is looking for some dog people to live with that want a really affectionate, sweet dog to join them with walks, play and cuddling. Her background is sketchy at best, but she has learned to walk reasonably well on leash, gets along with other dogs on walks, has recently welcomed a visiting dog, and loves her trips to Golden Gate Park dog run. She is still initially nervous about visitors, but one treat can create a friendship. She currently sleeps in her fosters’ bed, is crate trained and does well when left alone. She has a huge appetite that needs to be watched as she would love to be a fat girl. She is now just right at 13 lbs. She has learned quite a few commands and easily fits into household daily life. She sometimes lets you know when a strange dog is passing her house but it can be minimized, and you will usually be notified of postal deliveries. By far, Frida's favorite day is being with her humans whether on a walk, in the car, visiting a store, or wherever you happen to be. As she has spent a number of months with her foster family, she comes with an offer of free boarding if you have a vacation or weekend away that can’t include a dog or just some visits. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Frida is $300. If you are interested in adopting Frida, please complete our online adoption application at  https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/  . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. November 5, 2024, 10:42 pm
