Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $250 Thank you to Sydney K. for her generous donation towards our Sticky Dogs to help find them homes.  Spring is an option for Foster To Adopt. Spring is an 8 year old Dachshund-Pit mix who can’t wait to blossom with her forever family! Spring came to our rescue with her litter of 2 week old babies after she was abandoned at the shelter, which is no place for a sweet little family. Now that her babies are all grown up and she has had some Mama relaxation time, she is ready to find a home to live out her golden years in! Spring weighs 27 pounds and is a low-rider! Are you a Pitbull lover but the size of a typical Pitty doesn't fit your life? Well, we have your answer here. This girl is all that but in a compact size!   Below is a note from Spring’s foster.  “Spring is a fabulously cuddly and loving gal who can’t wait to meet her new BFF! When you first meet her, she can take a little bit to warm up but once she does, she is ready for non-stop snuggles. She would love to find a home where she can spend her days loving her people, being the best zoom companion ever! Spring is more of a couch potato kind of dog, but she does love her daily romps around the neighborhood. Spring is fully potty trained both with potty pads and outside. Spring adores the softer things in life, from blankets to toys and dotes on her Lamb Chop. Spring would be a perfect hike companion or a “snuggle and movie” friend.  Spring starts her morning with a potty break and breakfast at around 7 AM. During the day, she hangs out in a playpen with her bed and toys. She spends her time mostly snoozing and soaking up the sunshine. After I finish work for the day, we go on a walk to the park where she sniffs and gets her zoomies out. After her walk, she comes home for dinner and snuggles as I unwind from the day. She ends her day curled up on her soft dog bed as she dreams of adventures ahead!  Spring would do best in a home where she can be the only dog, or with a low-key doggy companion. She loves walks and trots alongside me as we wander the neighborhood. Spring gets along with all people, but prefers a slow introduction involving LOTS of treats! Spring is such a lovely girl with beautiful, soulful eyes who deserves the absolute best forever home.” Spring would be best suited for a home with prior dog experience, but she could be a first-time dog. Spring would do best as a solo dog. Kids in the home should be over the age of 10.November 5, 2024, 9:13 pm

If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $700   Ginny is a 10 month old Dachshund who is gin-uinly so excited to meet you! We first met Ginny at the shelter. She was hit by a car and brought in by a good citizen before being rushed into emergency surgery. She had a plate put in and has been recovering well in her foster home. While her healing journey is still ongoing, our shy little gal is ready to find her soft landing place and her forever people. Ginny weighs 13 pounds and is the perfect size for all the love and snuggles you could want. You won’t regret meeting our lovely Ginny!     Ginny is a quiet but uber sweet gal who has so much to offer the world if you give her the chance to bloom! Despite all that she has gone through, she seeks out affection and loves the companionship of her humans. Ginny would be the perfect pup for someone who works from home, as she is ready to provide that calming presence sometimes needed during stressful workdays. As her leg has started to heal, Ginny has started exploring the world more and boy does she love smelling all the wonderful smells nature has to offer! Our girl has a nose for adventure and we can’t wait for her leg to heal so she can start checking items off her bucket list. For now though, she’s happy to help you binge watch your favorite shows and movies. She’ll even assist in eating the popcorn! Ginny is such a sweet and lovely little lady with so much love to give.  Ginny wakes up around 6 AM and goes into the yard for potty. She has breakfast around 8 AM and then settles in for a rest in her pen, as our vet has encouraged her to not be too active as she heals from surgery. She eats again at 1:30 PM and 7 PM. During the day, she gets lots of time to slowly explore the backyard, play with her toys, and take plenty of naps. As she has come out of her shell, we have seen more of her fabulous personality emerge which has been a treat! In the evening, Ginny goes out for one more potty before heading into her crate for the night. Ginny would be an option for a home with a resident dog as long as the dog is respectful as she continues to heal. She loves her walks and sniffs all the leaves she passes. While she can be a bit shy when first meeting new people, if you give her time to settle in she will eventually come seeking cuddles and love. Her ideal home is one where she can continue quietly recovering, so an adult only home is perfect for her. If you’re ready to meet your new best friend, come meet Ginny!     Ginny is only an option for homes with dog owning experience. Ginny is only an option for adult homes. January 9, 2025, 3:02 am

Story
Marimar is a beautiful shy but playful girl who I had the chance to foster her since I found her being given away in SoCal when I was traveling. She is about to be 2 years old this month and is looking forward to it. I am looking for a home that is willing to be patient and kind to her. She needs to go on her own pace and that means giving her the time to acclimate to her new environment and new people. I would describe Mari as a little shy and timid with new people but is very loyal to those she is comfortable with. She is a very light player, she knows how to play rough and will correct dogs who play too rough with her but she prefers to play with others in a softer way. Mari adores cuddles and hugs, especially if she is held like a baby. Marimar seems to have PTSD from the owner and may yelp if she is suddenly moved, grabbed, or harsh movements are made near her. Her trigger has lessened over time since I first had her in my care. However, this is something that must be considered.

Good with dogs,
Story
We found these dogs a couple weeks ago in Campbell, Ca. We put up posters, posted on multiple websites, and took them to see if they were microchipped but no luck. When we first found them they were a bit timid but once they warmed up, they're running through the house like they own it. We don't think they are house trained. We are currently working on potty training, leash walking and "here" but they seem to be fast learners. We have noticed that they do chew on things. We taught them how to use the doggy door and they come in and out as they please. We have noticed that they will be rambunctious for a couple hours until they want to cuddle up and nap with someone. They get along great with our 3 big dogs and with everyone they have met. They will need a well fenced in backyard or they will escape. We want to find a home that will take both of them as they are attached at the hip.

Story
Seven year old Frida is looking for some dog people to live with that want a really affectionate, sweet dog to join them with walks, play and cuddling. Her background is sketchy at best, but she has learned to walk reasonably well on leash, gets along with other dogs on walks, has recently welcomed a visiting dog, and loves her trips to Golden Gate Park dog run. She is still initially nervous about visitors, but one treat can create a friendship. She currently sleeps in her fosters’ bed, is crate trained and does well when left alone. She has a huge appetite that needs to be watched as she would love to be a fat girl. She is now just right at 13 lbs. She has learned quite a few commands and easily fits into household daily life. She sometimes lets you know when a strange dog is passing her house but it can be minimized, and you will usually be notified of postal deliveries. By far, Frida's favorite day is being with her humans whether on a walk, in the car, visiting a store, or wherever you happen to be. As she has spent a number of months with her foster family, she comes with an offer of free boarding if you have a vacation or weekend away that can’t include a dog or just some visits. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Frida is $300. If you are interested in adopting Frida, please complete our online adoption application at  https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/  . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. November 5, 2024, 10:42 pm

Story
Thank you for your inquiry. Bambi has an adopter but we have to wait for them to go pick her up after the stay-at-home is lifted. Once she is picked up we will remove her profile. Please do not write to us for an application. Sorry for any inconvenience. Bambi is extremely shy. She is approximately 1 year old and weighs just 7 lbs. Once she warms up she is very affectionate. Bambi wouldn't do well in a busy home with loud fast children because she would be scared of them. She gets along well with cats, though, and doesn't chase them. She is good with other dogs of all sizes and plays with them when she isn’t coming to you for love. She loves to cuddle up on your lap or in your bed at night! She is simply a loving little doll. Bambi is very calm and well-behaved. She is good on a leash as well. Bambi needs a quiet home without a lot of noise or strange people coming over all the time for her to feel safe and comfortable. She is very sweet and not aggressive at all, even when scared. She would do best in a home with another dog or where she has contact with her owner throughout the day. because they are home She wouldn’t do well left alone for a full workday without a canine companion. Bambi is a loyal companion once she gets to know you and will show you love and affection. She would do best with somewhere like a patio or a yard so she can go out as she does now to do her business. This little doll is a lovable, cuddly, and trusting little girl when she gets to know you. Given some time and patience, she will warm up to someone willing to give her the loving and secure home that she deserves. Bambi is being fostered in Oakland. Ca. Her adoption fee is $275.00. Arrangements to meet our dogs occur after an application has been received. Please contact us at dogzonerescue@yahoo.com for more information about this great gal or for an application to adopt.
