Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $250 Thank you to Sydney K. for her generous donation towards our Sticky Dogs to help find them homes.  Spring is an option for Foster To Adopt. Spring is a 9 year old Dachshund-Pit mix who can’t wait to blossom with her forever family! Spring came to our rescue with her litter of 2 week old babies after she was abandoned at the shelter, which is no place for a sweet little family. Now that her babies are all grown up and she has had some Mama relaxation time, she is ready to find a home to live out her golden years in! Spring weighs 27 pounds and is a low-rider! Are you a Pitbull lover but the size of a typical Pitty doesn't fit your life? Well, we have your answer here. This girl is all that but in a compact size!   Below is a note from Spring’s foster.  “Spring is a fabulously cuddly and loving gal who can’t wait to meet her new BFF! When you first meet her, she can take a little bit to warm up but once she does, she is ready for non-stop snuggles. She would love to find a home where she can spend her days loving her people, being the best zoom companion ever! Spring is more of a couch potato kind of dog, but she does love her daily romps around the neighborhood. Spring is fully potty trained both with potty pads and outside. Spring adores the softer things in life, from blankets to toys and dotes on her Lamb Chop. Spring would be a perfect hike companion or a “snuggle and movie” friend.  Spring starts her morning with a potty break and breakfast at around 7 AM. During the day, she hangs out in a playpen with her bed and toys. She spends her time mostly snoozing and soaking up the sunshine. After I finish work for the day, we go on a walk to the park where she sniffs and gets her zoomies out. After her walk, she comes home for dinner and snuggles as I unwind from the day. She ends her day curled up on her soft dog bed as she dreams of adventures ahead!  Spring would do best in a home where she can be the only dog, or with a low-key doggy companion. She loves walks and trots alongside me as we wander the neighborhood. Spring gets along with all people, but prefers a slow introduction involving LOTS of treats! Spring is such a lovely girl with beautiful, soulful eyes who deserves the absolute best forever home.” Spring would be best suited for a home with prior dog experience, but she could be a first-time dog. Spring would do best as a solo dog. Kids in the home should be over the age of 10.January 10, 2025, 10:20 pm

If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $700   Ginny is a 10 month old Dachshund who is gin-uinly so excited to meet you! We first met Ginny at the shelter. She was hit by a car and brought in by a good citizen before being rushed into emergency surgery. She had a plate put in and has been recovering well in her foster home. While her healing journey is still ongoing, our shy little gal is ready to find her soft landing place and her forever people. Ginny weighs 13 pounds and is the perfect size for all the love and snuggles you could want. You won’t regret meeting our lovely Ginny!     Ginny is a quiet but uber sweet gal who has so much to offer the world if you give her the chance to bloom! Despite all that she has gone through, she seeks out affection and loves the companionship of her humans. Ginny would be the perfect pup for someone who works from home, as she is ready to provide that calming presence sometimes needed during stressful workdays. As her leg has started to heal, Ginny has started exploring the world more and boy does she love smelling all the wonderful smells nature has to offer! Our girl has a nose for adventure and we can’t wait for her leg to heal so she can start checking items off her bucket list. For now though, she’s happy to help you binge watch your favorite shows and movies. She’ll even assist in eating the popcorn! Ginny is such a sweet and lovely little lady with so much love to give.  Ginny wakes up around 6 AM and goes into the yard for potty. She has breakfast around 8 AM and then settles in for a rest in her pen, as our vet has encouraged her to not be too active as she heals from surgery. She eats again at 1:30 PM and 7 PM. During the day, she gets lots of time to slowly explore the backyard, play with her toys, and take plenty of naps. As she has come out of her shell, we have seen more of her fabulous personality emerge which has been a treat! In the evening, Ginny goes out for one more potty before heading into her crate for the night. Ginny would be an option for a home with a resident dog as long as the dog is respectful as she continues to heal. She loves her walks and sniffs all the leaves she passes. While she can be a bit shy when first meeting new people, if you give her time to settle in she will eventually come seeking cuddles and love. Her ideal home is one where she can continue quietly recovering, so an adult only home is perfect for her. If you’re ready to meet your new best friend, come meet Ginny!     Ginny is only an option for homes with dog owning experience. Ginny is only an option for adult homes. January 25, 2025, 12:03 am

If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $800   Sunset is a 10 week old Dachshund mix who can’t wait to take in all the oranges and reds of the sky with you! Sunset was surrendered to the shelter as an unwanted Christmas present. Sadly, we see a lot of puppies in the shelter after the holidays and we knew we had to scoop him up and do right by him in finding his forever home. Sunset currently weighs 5 pounds and we expect he will max out around 13-16 pounds as an adult. He is a petite little man ready to take the world by storm! Come and find your perfect sunset with Mr. Sunset!       Sunset is a loving and snuggly little gentleman who will win you over with his puppy dog eyes from the minute you meet him! Sunset loves his humans and follows his foster mom around faithfully as she goes about her daily chores. Sunset loves cuddling and will clamber onto any open lap he finds, rolling over onto his back for belly rubs and scratches. Sunset has an ever-growing collection of toys he would love to continue adding to once he finds his forever humans (it’s hard to resist such a cute little face). Sunset loves sleeping on a warm lap or blanket so he’s happy to keep you company during long workdays! Like most puppies, he alternates between lounging on the couch and zooming around at top speeds. He has so much to show the world and he can’t wait to get his next adventure started! According to his foster mom, he gives the best snuggles and she knows he will make himself right at home with the lucky family who adopts him!  Sunset wakes up around 8 AM and gets lots of snuggles before he is ready for breakfast. In the morning, he alternates between showing off his zoomies, cuddling, playing with his toys, and snoozing. He has lunch at 1 PM and then he spends a few hours running around in the backyard as he soaks up California sunshine! He takes a nap until dinner at 7 PM and then spends the rest of his evening snuggled on the couch with his foster humans until he heads to bed.  Sunset is fostered with two dogs and they get along well. He would benefit from a confident companion. Interested homes must be prepared to continue training and socialization. He has been doing great on his crate training and potty pad training so far with his foster humans. Sunset would love to find a home where his people want to make him the center of their universe, as he is just so ready to shower you in love and adoration. As our little dude navigates the world, he brings such light and amusement to everyone he touches. Come and find your Sunset today!      Sunset is only an option for homes who have owned a dog of their own in the last 5 years. Kids should be over the age of 7. January 25, 2025, 12:25 am

If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.       Adoption Fee: $750   The Coin puppies are a litter of 10 week old Dachshund x Chihuahua mixes who are ready to cash in on a lifetime of love and puppy kisses! This litter was surrendered to the shelter at only 7 weeks old and we were asked to scoop them up as they were tiny and in need of some love. They joined our rescue and have been adorable little bundles of love ever since! This litter is 4 boys and 1 girl. We expect they will remain under 10 pounds when they are fully grown as they are quite petite now. Come collect a rare coin with a Coin puppy today!     Dime (M): Dime is the perfect TEN! He has the most loving personality that makes him a priceless addition to any space he enters. A true middle child, Dime is always trying to stand out, and he’s discovered that his charm and affectionate nature do just that! Dime melts hearts with a simple wag of his tail or lick to your cheek. Whether he’s exploring or cuddling, Dime proves that the smallest coins often hold the most value. Dime is the (secret) favorite of his foster home and once you meet him you’ll see exactly why! Nickel (M): Nickel is small but mighty and shines with his amazing temperament. Though he is tiny, he makes up for his size with a huge serving of sweetness that everyone remarks upon when they meet him. He is quick to snuggle and loves being held in the arms of his humans when he is ready for a nap. He’s the perfect size to tuck into the pocket of your hoodie as you go about your day (speaking from experience). Nickel’s playful energy is contagious and he is always ready to make a huge deposit of love and laughter into your day! Penny (F): Penny is a lucky little lady who promises to be the tiniest treasure for the home lucky enough to take her home. As the only girl of the bunch, Penny runs the daily agenda with the perfect blend of sassiness and sweetness. Penny is always on the move, zipping across the playpen with her toys. She makes her presence known wherever she goes with her adorable looks and her goofy personality. Penny would be the perfect addition for any home ready for a lifetime of adventures and puppy kisses! Quarter (M): Quarter is the gentle “giant” of the litter clocking in at a whopping… five pounds. Folks, this is a tiny litter! Quarter is the most mellow of the litter and he takes on life with the relaxed pace of a sophisticated gentleman. Quarter adores his humans and loves to chill with them as they work or go about their daily tasks. Don’t get us wrong, he can get down and romp with the best of them as any good puppy does, but once he’s had his fill of playing he’s ready for a long nap. Come and collect this limited edition coin! Silver Dollar (M): Silver Dollar is the rare gem of the group and has a personality that sparkles bright. He is bold and outgoing, always seeking out adventures as he makes tons of friends along the way. Toys? He’s ready to play fetch. Zoomies? He’s got them! However, when it’s time to settle down, he is thrilled to curl up on your lap and show off his sweet, affectionate side. Silver Dollar leaves a lasting impression on everyone he meets, just like finding a rare coin in an unexpected place. He promises a lifetime of special memories ahead!     The puppies wake up around 7 AM and enjoy breakfast while their pen is cleaned out. They are given food again at 1 PM and 5 PM. During the day, they alternate between playing with toys, chasing each other around the house, cuddling with their foster humans, and generally being adorable. They love their toys and are happy as can be as they play with each other. In the evening, they all get some cuddle time with their foster mom until they are ready for bed in their puppy pen. The Coin puppies have been fabulously socialized with dogs of all ages and sizes. They love humans and would be great additions to any home ready for a little pipsqueak. Since they are very small, little humans should be supervised to ensure everyone stays safe. Interested families should be prepared to continue training and socialization after adoption. Ready to cash in on love? Adopt a Coin puppy!     The Coin puppies are only an option for homes who have owned a dog of their own in the last 5 years.
