Story
Oscar is around 15-16 years old. He was rescued at the age of 3 and has been a wonderful dog. He would do well in an apartment or house with other animals or as the primary pet. He is a very sweet older boy and great with kids and other animals. He has lost some hearing but for his age he is very mobile and energetic. He loves to be around you and spend time on the sofa snuggling or laying in his bed covered with a blanket. Would love for him to be with a family who is willing to undertake a senior pup!

Story
Meet Roscoe! This 7 year old was very fearful for his first few months in the shelter, but has come so far. He still takes time to warm up to new friends, but is always happy to play outside his kennel. Roscoe will chase after plushies all day long. He`s looking for a home with an experienced adopter familiar with earning the trust of nervous pup. @vcanimalservices AMAZING PROGRESS - but Roscoe still needs an adopter after 6 months in shelter. This boy was once so fearful of dogs and people that he spent most of his time in a kennel covered with a blanket to reduce stress. Though he still needs time to warm up to new people, Roscoe is making more and more friends! He’s proving to be playful and loves toys. Though he has struggled with touch, he is even starting to warm up to belly rubs. ?? This plea is for a rescue group or patient individual with no children or pets. Someone who understands that Roscoe is not your average adoption candidate. Befriending Roscoe and building his confidence will be a project. He is a beautiful work-in-progress who needs someone prepared to take on the challenges and joys of helping him become his best self. ?? To learn more about Roscoe, visit him on our website (www.vcas.us/dogs) or email animal.care@ventura.org for more info. ?? #TeamRoscoe ? original sound - Ventura County Animal Services

Story
From experience, Brimsley needs to be in a one person home.  Other dogs are okay.   This is the youngest 12 year old senior you will ever meet.  He loves to play with his foster brother, with his squeaky toys and go for walks. He likes spending time with me, but Tbone (his foster Dachshund brother) is a close second.   Pros: House broken Knew instantly how to use a doggie door and uses it to go outside and hang out Very good walking on a leash Does not get on furniture sleeps in his crate Sweet and adorable!     Cons: is fine if I leave and Tbone is home, but if I am walking Tbone, Brimsley will sit by the door and cry., Not much of a barker, but if he hears it on TV and/or sees the dog next door he will bark.   Watch when you walk, he is always very close! He does not like larger dogs. Brimsley needs a home with a yard that he can explore.   Needs a calm, quiet environment.  Right now he is with his female foster, and one other Dachshund.  Brimsley just wants a stress free place to enjoy his senior years. If you are interested in adopting Brimsley, please fill out an adoption application at our website:  www.dachshundrescueoflosangeles.com You will need to travel to Las Vegas to pick him up if approved.August 18, 2024, 2:19 pm

Story
Donut is looking for his forever home.  He's a darling little mini Dachshund/Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix. He'll be 6 years old on June 4.  A tiny 12 pounds. Donut has extreme separation anxiety.  He is destructive when left alone.  Medication and exercise may help. He was born very hard of hearing, but is very healthy.  He loves to cuddle and sun bathe.  Smart, friendly and loving.  A total lap dog. Someone that is home most of the time would be the best fit. If you are interested in adopting Donut, please complete an adoption application on our website to be pre-approved:  www.dachshundrescueoflosangeles.comAugust 18, 2024, 2:19 pm

Story
Jojo was in the shelter as a baby and was taken in by my family at 2 years old, Jojo immediately became a part of our family and best friends with our chihuahua at the time. Unfortunately We lost our chihuahua in March and Jojo had been lonely even with his kitty siblings and my siblings and i have grown and are never home which is heartbreaking for us when it comes to Jojo. Jojo is the sweetest boy ever and loves to cuddle and become friends with any pets and kids, if you are an outdoor person he will become your best friend as he loves hiking and playing in rivers and the ocean. Jojo is amazing with kids as he has watched my nieces and nephews grow up and has always played with them and shown them love by kisses and cuddles. We are sad to have to rehome jojo but we know he needs another doggy friend or someone who has more time for him. He’s a chihuahua weenie mix. Barking is not a issue as jojo is very calm, he is good on a leash and enjoys walks. He is the sweetest boy ever!
