Story
I adopted Max back in February 2024 from this website. He is such a sweet pup but he would be better in a home with no other pets. He needs updated shots and he is soon to turn 5 years old! I believe with the right training he could be good with other pets but I am also a mom to my other older dachshund and he doesn’t get along with him. We tried our own training techniques but believe I am not home enough to implement them enough. It saddens me to see him go but believe he needs to be put in a more safe environment for him and his family. I am asking a rehoming fee of $200 that will include all of his items, treats, food and bed. Please message me to meet this handsome boy.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.GiGi is a 5-month-old 10-pound Dachshund “Doxie” Jack Russel mix (best guess). She is one of the sweetest and friendliest dogs people say they have ever met. Words to describe her are cute, lovable, enthusiastic, and spirited. She loves to cuddle and looks at people with so much love in her eyes. During the day she sleeps in a dog bed near where her foster mother works then moves to the other dog beds or sofa pillows in the evening to be near people when they eat or watch tv. GiGi has short legs but that does not stop her from going where she wants to! For example, she has learned to crawl under things like a bed when she needs to. The most descriptive word for GiGi is “playful”. She loves to play and play and play. She knows where the overflowing toy box is and excitedly gets each of the toys out. GiGi also likes waving a toy in the air by herself and chewing on a bone. She gets one toy out for a minute then another toy out for another minute. Before you know it there are 10 toys on the floor! She also loves chewing endlessly in her current puppy stage. Being in the yard either running around or sunbathing by being stretched out in the grass enjoying the Florida heat is also something she loves. The foster family has discovered that GiGi likes to talk with small whining noises. They realized she is simply trying to say “give me attention” or “pet me” or “can I have some of that food you are eating” and find it amusing that she is trying to communicate with them in a dog way. CRATE TRAINED – YES GiGi sleeps in a crate at night. She likes the crate to be in a bedroom where another dog or people are also sleeping. She feels more secure that way and everyone gets a better night’s sleep! Once she is fully potty trained, she would enjoy sleeping in a dog bed or human bed. OTHER DOGS – COMPATIBLE Gigi would be fine living as an only dog or with another dog. GiGi is used to having dogs around and likes them. She will bark at the other dog like she is talking to her then lean down on her two front paws saying “let’s play”. POTTY TRAINED – ALMOST THERE GiGi has been learning to go potties outside at the foster home. She had one accident in the house.  She is extremely intelligent and wants to please, so with some patience from the adopter she should be able to be fully housebroken quickly. She loves running in the backyard so will gladly go outside when the door opens.  LEASH WALKING – LEARNING GiGi has not walked on a leash before so it feels a little foreign to her to have something attached. She likes being with people so with training she will eventually view walking as an adventure. VET NEEDS – IN PROGRESS She needs to be spayed before the adoption can be considered as final, which follows the rescue organization’s guidelines. The adoption fee includes what was already done of all shots, dewormer, and microchip and will cover the cost of the spay. She can go to her permanent home now, but the adopter must be willing to take GiGi to a rescue veterinary clinic in Brandon/Seffner area for the spay. 4 Lucky Dogs will set up the appointment and the adopter just needs to transport to and from and then take care of her during recovery. READY TO BE PART OF YOUR FAMILY - YES She is currently being fostered in the Plant City area. The average lifespan for this small breed is 15 years. Therefore, GiGi’s adopter will need to be prepared to care for her for around 14 more years so she will not have to move to a different home again. -----------------   ***We are a foster-based rescue with no shelter or facility to view our dogs, and our address is a mailing address only. Please be patient as we are an all-volunteer rescue, and our rescue dogs are in various loving foster homes throughout West-Central Florida. As a general rule we try to limit our adoptions to within the state of FL. If interested in one of our dogs, please fill out a foster or adoption application at www.4luckydogs.org, and we will contact you by phone/text if we feel your application is the best fit out of the ones received.***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 12, 2024, 1:44 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.FOSTER UPDATE:  Mingo is a gentle sweet loving boy (completely house trained) who wants to be your constant companion and will follow you everywhere you go. He enjoys walks and “smells” of the world.  As a 10 year-old boy, we don’t usually walk far but he gets excited when the leash comes out.  He loves to be in the backyard investigating all the sounds of the preserve behind my home.   The recent heatwave has limited our time being outside but he definitely appreciates his backyard time.  He barks very little in the house, but when in the neighborhood he will bark at some people and other dogs but quickly can be redirected. He seems more uncertain of men.  He is the only dog in my home but has interacted with a neighbor’s dog well on a walk.   Mingo is definitely food motivated but does not beg for food.  He loves a good squeaky toy and will play fetch a few times but would say he also enjoys his couch potato status most of the time.  He loves to be near you when home.  Mingo also loves to be petted and praised and responds with a rapidly wagging tail.  Currently he is crated when left alone but has not shown any destructive behavior at all.   If you are looking for a loving senior companion, Mingo is worth considerationVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 14, 2024, 4:16 pm
