Story
Jules was born around February 21, 2017 and weighs about 22 pounds.  Joyful was contacted by the brother of a man who had gone into Hospice and left behind 3 dogs and a cat.  The man's brother had owned the animals and loved them very much but he was ill and unable to take care of himself let alone his pets.  Jules is an extremely loving, sweet girl, once she knows you and loves to cuddle and have lap time.  However, she will take a little time to warm up so a home with a ton of traffic may not be best for her.  Jules does well with the other dogs here and lived with a cat in her former life.  Jules rides well in the car and walks fine on a leash. She is one the quiet side unless there is something to bark about.   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $475.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. Story
Nigel was born about May 15, 2024 and we had his mama that has found a home and she weighed about 20 lbs. and did look to be a, very, mixed Doxie.  Since we don't know who his daddy was it is possible Nigel could top out as much as 20-30 lbs.  If an exact size is crucial for you he is probably not a good fit.  Nigel is the oddest, and most gorgeous, shades of gray/brown.  His personality is happy and out going.  He is a playful, loving, gorgeous baby that someone is going to love to pieces!  We like to mention that with many of these small dogs potty floor pads may be necessary throughout their lives.   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $_600.00______. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Story
The Smith-Kenley transport came to us from Niagara Falls!  Joyful Rescues feels strongly that, because of the drastic dog overpopulation problem that resulted due to human behavior during the pandemic, that we must do the responsible thing and focus our efforts in our own western NY region.  The population problem has also created an environment ripe for increased animal hoarding when good hearted humans take on more than they have the resources to care for them which is the case for the 9 dogs and 3 cats that arrived here in pretty rough shape.  A few of the dogs have no teeth and the others will need a dental, which we will do for them, and with this much neglect they will likely need a second dental in the near future so we want to be sure, if you choose to open your home to one of them, that you will be prepared for this cost.  Everyone's nails were overgrown, and the longer haired ones were terribly matted and even had some twigs embedded in the mats.  Any donations toward their care would surely be appreciated.  Some of them are a bit shy at first, but they've been through a lot and we feel given a bit of time they will be the loves of your life! Mack Tavish was born about March 20, 2012 and weighs about ____ lbs.  Mack Tavish is terribly sweet and is loving the human attention.  He is extremely good with the other dogs and the cats and did very well on the two-hour car ride here. We strongly feel, in our school of hard knocks opinion/no veterinary training, that he has a significant vision loss which has made him a bit unsure of his new surroundings and all these changes.  It is also possible there is some hearing loss. His site seems to be very limited, perhaps just shadows at this time.  So no little kids as that could be very frightening with such fast movements.  Once he is comfortable and happy with you he is a love bug. Mack has no teeth and in 2022 an oral nasal fistula was repaired and on his right hind leg there is a grape sized mass that was unchanged and doesn't bother him.  It is Joyful Rescues humble/uneducated opinion that this elderly dog has had more than enough vaccines for a lifetime and doesn't need more. We don't know about house training and until we can update with that information, we want to let you know there will likely be some work in that area and potty floor pads are always a good idea for these tiny dogs. The Adoption Fee for this dog is $_200.00_. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. We don't know about house training and until we can update with that information, we want to let you know there will likely be some work in that area and potty floor pads are always a good idea for these tiny dogs.  Rufus will not be needing a dental as he has no teeth thus his tongue hangs out.  His last dental was in 2021 where an oral nasal fistula was repaired and the remainder of his teeth came out.  Afterwards there were a couple of small fistulas, but notes seem to indicate they healed by themselves.  He can still eat hard food but prefers soft.  Rufus's eyes seem to have some age-related cloudiness and his hearing seems not to be perfect.  It is Joyful Rescues humble/uneducated opinion that Rufus has had plenty of vaccines for his lifetime and should not receive any further vaccines.  Please do some research and decide for yourself if you are interested in this cutie.  He is an absolute lap loving snuggle bug - it only takes a few minutes for your heart to melt when meeting him! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $_350.00_. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability.
