Meet Rolo!!!!He is a high energy youngster! Tons of fun!! Loves to run and play! I think he would do best in an active home and would love a playmate that matches his energy level. He is a sweet boy that loves pets and snuggles... House trained... Not a big fan of the crate but will settle with a bone to knaw on. He is 100% cute!!!! Rolo is a one year old happy energetic fella. He gets along with others but does have a bit of an alpha personality Available dogs are met by pre-approved adopters ONLY after a match is made. The application is the first step. Story
Meet the Littles! These sweet babies were found in a ditch in rural Mississippi. All efforts to locate the owners failed and we can only assume they were dumped to fend for themselves. They have been in foster care for about a month, up to date on shots, heartworm free, spayed, and microchipped. Now they are looking for forever love and care. Ages are around one year.Sally is a dachshund with adorable markings - a tiny white blaze on her face, white chest, wearing four white stockings, and a white tip on her tail. She is extremely gentle and loving, and keeps an eye on her partner, Lucy.Lucy is part chi, tiny little thing weighing eleven pounds. Lucy is a speed demon, queen of the zoomies. Her greatest happiness is emptying to toy basket. They are inseparable, always playing, eating, sleeping, seeking lap time together. Lucy and Sally must be adopted together. They are strongly bonded and don’t like to be apart for any reason. Side note - they are the only fosters that my elderly Jack Russell’s have ever liked! Lucy and Sally are the sweetestRussellrescuetn@gmail.comAvailable dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else. We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters. The application is the first step. Story
Blaze is a young one year old terrier HW negative and fully vetted except for neuter. He is a “velcro” dog who follows along everywhere and loves to cuddle! He wants to play play play! Throw the ball, again and again-he’s down for it!! He loves toys and snuggles. He is picky about his food and is currently on Stella and Chewy kibble with fresh chicken on top. He does not like the kennel and will bark when placed in there. However, we have been working on night kennel training and he sleeps well untill 7am when he is ready to rip and play! What a happy joyful pup this is. He is reliably house trained but will mark without a belly band. Hopefully neuter will correct that behavior.hiAvailable dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else. We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters. The application is the first step. What they need is love, patience, and time to trust you. Please, won't you give them that chance?  Both Bell and Obie came to the rescue from severely abusive situations. This is hard to imagine, given Bell’s sweet nature and incomprehensible, given Obie’s blindness. Together, after reaching rescue, they have found comfort in one another. When Obie arrived, he had no clue how to play. Bell found this unacceptable and has taught her friend to trust, play, and enjoy life once again. They now run through the house or play in the yard together. It took a while as they, both Bell and Obie, had to wrestle with their internal demons, but through the process, they bonded, and separating them is not an option for us. They have been in rescue for months waiting for the right home to come along, but we know there is that perfect home for these two where they can be together. Bell will need time to trust her new owners, and Obie will need time to get familiar with the layout of the home and yard. However, this little team will do it. They sleep in the primary bedroom at night together in a doggie bed, never asking to come up on the big bed. When we must leave, they go into their own crates, which are located side by side. We know this adoption will take a special person with a big heart, but they are a true “rescue story.” Are you up to this incredibly rewarding challenge? Our must-haves for this dynamic duo include: A fenced yard Someone who is home a lot or works from home A truly patient person or family (no small children) Not a first-time owner; must be an experienced dachshund owner No apartments, condos, duplexes, or high-rises   ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.  We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
