Story
MEET BLITZ, an 85-lb stunning Doberman male who is waiting for his forever home. Blitz is a large Dobie, almost 2 years old. He is a dark red, almost chocolate color and is magnificent in appearance. Blitz is currently in training in the Los Angeles area to overcome some fears and quirks he has had in the past. He is affectionate with people he knows but in the past was tense and suspicious with strangers, especially if he is in a confined space. He can also be a bit stubborn, though his training is helping tremendously. Blitz gets along great with other dogs-- he has previously lived happily with a female Doberman in his foster home. Because of his size and strength, a home without small children is mandatory. Blitz has high energy and would benefit from having a yard, where he can run and play. Blitz is hypo-thyroid so is on inexpensive thyroid medication, which will likely be forever. We believe Blitz is of European ancestry and like all Euro-Dobies, he has heavier bones and a larger head than the more petite American Dobies. Blitz is without question a lot of dog! But he is a lot of really good dog. Doberman or large-dog experience is a must for his adoption. Please email for an application.

Story
Meet Zuko, the handsome chocolate Doberman. Zuko previously lived in a home with a variety of aged people and has been observed to be a sensitive guy since his arrival at the Shelter – a little nervous at first but softens, gives tail wags and gentle kisses. His favorite activity is running around and playing fetch with tennis balls (also his favorite toy, obviously!). Zuko enjoyed romping around with a female Frenchie in his previous home may enjoy a canine companion in his next spot. Doberman lovers – don’t miss out on this handsome guy! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
Rex is our very special sweetheart. In the home, he is an absolute cuddle bug who can be slow to warm up with new people. Once you earn his trust, he is the most loyal little man ever. Rex loves to play tug-of-war and despite being a tripod, he has the stamina to run for a while! He is a bit of an anxious fellow and would do best as an only dog in the house--he has been bit by a large breed dog before and is reactive with most of them.

Story
Hi there! I’m writing to you about my two adorable 11-month-old dogs, Koda and Nero. They are lovable, caring, and playful pups who have been through a lot. Last year, I got them, but unfortunately, some home and family issues have made it difficult for me to care for them as I used to. They’re both great with kids, and they’re a mix of Labrador and Doberman. They are a medium-sized dog, and he’s been with his brother 24/7. If you’re interested in adopting them both, please let me know. If not, don’t worry, they’ll find a loving home too. Koda does bark a bit, but he’ll quiet down when you tell him to. I just want them to be in a good, loving home where they’ll receive the attention and love they deserve.

Story
Meet Ambi, a smart and playful pup with a heart full of love and potential! This sweet girl thrives in a structured home where she can enjoy plenty of mental and physical stimulation, like long walks, puzzle toys, and training sessions. Ambi is potty-trained, loves cuddles, and is happiest when she's part of a routine that includes both activity and relaxation. While she’s working on building her confidence with other dogs and being left alone, she’s already shown she’s eager to learn and responds well to training, she already knows “sit” “shake” and “down” as well as learning “spin” wow what a smarty pants! Ambi will do best in a patient, committed home ready to guide her with love, consistency, and plenty of positive reinforcement—she’ll reward you with endless loyalty and affection!

Story
Cute puppy alert!!! Hi! I’m Harper 💕🐾 A little about Harper~ This pup, along with her sister, were on the euthanasia list and headed for certain death. Our village of truly amazing people stepped up to give her and her sister a chance (her sister is Harlow with Red Dog Ranch). Harper is truly the best pup! Extremely loving, super smart, attaches to her people, gets along great with every dog she’s met. She’s crate trained, house trained, no food/toy aggression. Harper can be a bit shy at first. She also has a sensitive nature so it doesn’t take much to correct her. She thrives with confidence building and is the perfect age to take in any direction you choose. She loves hiking in the mountains, crossing creeks, jumping over logs, but also chewing a bone and napping in the sun. With the continuation of socialization and new adventures, Harper is bound to be the best companion there is! She would do best in a home with a playful furry friend, or somebody who is home a lot to keep her company. She is used to seeing cats and livestock around the ranch, but has never been tested with either. Also, a home with slightly older kiddos may be best as she can get overwhelmed when there is a lot going on. Harper is truly such a special pup. She deserves the best forever there is!! 🐾💕🐾💕🐾💕🐾 Harper will be spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Harper was born last July.
