Story
Molly has been waiting for some time now for the right adopter to come along, and we would really love to see her in a home of her own soon. This pretty Shiba Inu / Husky mix with the gorgeous blue eyes is about 4 years old and weighs in at a little under 50 pounds. She’s a friendly, energetic dog, and bonds well with her people. Here is what we’re looking for in her ideal adopter: EXPERIENCE: Molly needs an experienced adopter, ideally with Husky type dogs. She is not suitable for a first-time dog owner. Children need to be dog-savvy, and at least 14 years of age. ACTIVE LIFESTYLE: Molly is a high energy dog. She loves being outdoors, and would make a great hiking or running companion. FENCED BACKYARD: A safe area for training, playing, zoomies, and that last bathroom break before bed is a must. Molly would not be suitable for apartment life, and no dog parks please. OTHER PETS: Molly would be fine as an only dog as she can be a bit “in-your-face” when meeting other canines. She might enjoy being with a playful well-rounded male dog, but definitely no cats please. If you can check everything off on our wish list, please complete an adoption questionnaire at www.kikodogrescue.ca. Molly would love to hear from you! Due to the high volume of emails and messages we receive, we are unfortunately unable to respond to everyone, but thank you for your interest. All Kiko dogs have been examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, dewormed and tested for heartworm (if deemed necessary), microchipped, sterilized, and require an adoption fee of $475 and an adoption contract. Story
Our 50-pound, 4.5-year-old Schnauzer mix River is extremely loving and affectionate with his own people, but it’s a different story with visitors. Negative behaviour was created as a result of having been put in a room when visitors arrived. Because of this, River needs an experienced adopter who is prepared to work with him with a basket muzzle to help manage and overcome this reaction when people visit his home. LIFESTYLE: River needs a calm single or couple with a quiet lifestyle and few visitors. A semi-rural or rural environment would suit him best. River would not be suitable for apartment life, and no dog parks or children please. ACTIVE: River is playful and moderately active. He enjoys walks when there is not a lot going on around him, but responds well to redirection and positive reinforcement. OTHER PETS: River would be fine as an only dog, but a well-behaved female canine role model may be beneficial. Don’t be fooled by River’s cuteness. He needs a dedicated pack leader to show him the way. If that sounds like you, a very loving companion awaits. If you are interested in offering River a forever home, we ask that you please visit us at www.kikodogrescue.ca to fill out an adoption questionnaire. All Kiko dogs have been examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, dewormed and tested for heartworm (if deemed necessary), microchipped, sterilized, and require an adoption fee of $475 and an adoption contract. Story
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! Introducing Kiko’s latest arrival! Whiskey is a friendly mix who narrowly escaped euthanasia at a full shelter. There’s lots of life and love in this happy 6-year-old’s future! Whiskey is a healthy boy, and weighs about 70 pounds. His tail never stopped wagging when he met his foster dad, and was asking for belly rubs in no time! Whiskey is housetrained, sociable with hoomans and other pooches, not destructive when left alone, and is easy to live with. He’s affectionate and playful but his energy needs are not high, as he also enjoys chilling out and being a couch potato. Whiskey would prefer an adult home, or one with older children, and no cats please. He’s not a barker, and would be suitable for either an apartment or a home. If Whiskey sounds like the companion you’ve been looking for, please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website at www.kikodogrescue.ca. We are active in the Greater Montreal and Eastern Ontario areas, and are also open to applicants from elsewhere willing to drive to us. Whiskey’s foster home is in Laval, Quebec.

Story
FOSTER, ADOPTER OR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT NEEDED! Meet Läika, a fun-loving 16-month-old Shepherd mix in need of a temporary foster or permanent home. She was transferred to Kiko after her family brought her to our overcrowded partner shelter due to lack of time and being too energetic for their young children. Healthy and only 45 pounds, Läika will make an ideal hiking or running companion for an experienced active single or couple. She would prefer to be the only dog, but does get along with other dogs after being introduced properly. Läika likes cats, though, and can cohabitate nicely with them. She’s housetrained, eager to learn and please her people, and understands commands. Läika is more of the outdoorsy type, so a home in a quiet suburban, semi-rural or rural setting would be ideal. If you’re interested in giving Läika a forever home, please complete the adoption questionnaire on our website at www.kikodogrescue.ca. If you would like to offer to be a temporary foster only, please complete the temporary foster home questionnaire. You can also send us a PM or email us at info@kikodogrescue.ca with any questions you may have. We are active in the Greater Montreal and Eastern Ontario areas, and are also open to applicants from elsewhere willing to drive to us.

Story
AMERICAN BULLDOG AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION Say hi to Buster! This handsome 2.5-year-old was brought to the vet to be euthanized. Fortunately for Buster, his owners agreed to have him surrendered to rescue, the vet called us, and we were able to take him in right away. It seems he had a problem with loose stool, which has since resolved at his foster home. Perhaps it was caused by stress or the wrong diet? In any case, he’s a great dog and will make someone an awesome pet! Foster mom Mireille describes Buster as an “absolute delight.” She also has this to say about him: “He can be shy with certain people but is an easygoing dog, fully housetrained, low maintenance, and low to medium energy. He’s waiting for that special person who wants a couch cuddle bug because that’s actually his favourite thing to do.” Buster also enjoys playing ball in the backyard, loves his walks, and is a dream on leash. Buster warms up more quickly to women than men, but is still quite happy to accept head pets and walks from the men of his foster family. Someone who spends a lot of time at home would be perfect for Buster. If you think you’re the one for Buster, please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website at www.kikodogrescue.ca. We are active in the Greater Montreal and Eastern Ontario areas, and are also open to applicants from elsewhere willing to drive to us.

Story
ADORABLE BIEWER TERRIER AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION This little squirt is Gizmo, an endearing 4-year-old Biewer Terrier (similar to a Yorkie). No longer useful for breeding, he arrived at Kiko in search of a new home. Gizmo came to us rather shy and lacking in social skills, but his delightful personality has emerged thanks to the TLC of his fosters. Weighing in at just 5.5 pounds, the wee lad packs a lot of character into his small frame. Gizmo loves going for walks, so be prepared to get some exercise with the little guy. Another small dog in his new family, preferably a female, will be important for Gizmo, and he is also very compatible with cats. An adult home, or one with older children, and the presence of his people a good part of the day would be the best environment. If you check all the boxes on Gizmo’s wish list, he’d love to hear from you! Please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website at www.kikodogrescue.ca. We are active in the Greater Montreal and Eastern Ontario areas, and are also open to applicants from elsewhere willing to drive to us.
