Story
Ramah is a beautiful girl who is very shy at first. She seeks affection but may get startled or scared and back away or hiss. She is sweet but will need a lot of tlc and time to adjust to a new situation. She is used to other cats. Given time, Ramah should do well in most quiet to moderately active homes with proper introduction to other friendly animals.

Story
Alice is a very sweet, long haired tortoiseshell girl with a bushy tail. She came to us as a stray in thin condition, and could use some TLC to become her best self. She purrs as soon as you pick her up, and will nuzzle for pets. SHe also likes to play. Alice may be a little nervous in new situations, but once comfortable is sure to bring a lot of love and joy to her new home. Alice did not react around other animals at the shelter, but would likely be best in a calm to moderately active home with slow introduction to other friendly companions.

Story
MochaI am so pleased that the interviewer lady (IL) corresponded with my foster mom. She can post an updated story about me. In July, my owner surrendered me to HSHC because I was terrified of everything! The other cat, the dog, the children, and even the adults frightened me into hiding. I am an 8-year-old female kitty who never learned to become a social cat. However, since being in my foster home, I`ve made significant progress. My foster mom says I hide in the bedroom throughout the day, but I`ll come out in the evening to eat and explore the house. I like to eat at night when everyone is asleep, but sometimes I make an exception. I enjoy dry food over wet. Since being in my foster home, I`ve learned to love belly rubs and cuddling on the sofa or in bed. However, it is only when I seek it out, not when you instigate contact. I am comfortable with humans if they don`t make too much noise. I like a calm vibe in the house. Toys are not my jam; I prefer roaming the house if it is quiet. I use my litterbox without fail! I want to be relaxed and confident with people and learn to be social and outgoing. This will take a patient person who understands my fears and will give me the time and space to settle in. A quiet home, where everyone is 10 or older, is a must. I would appreciate being the only 4-legged family member, at least for a while. The IL knows that I crave affection and attention. Now, I need to find an owner to help me become the cat I want to be. 12-2-24

Story
CallieDid you know I was originally from Idaho, the Gem State! So, I like to think of myself as a true gem of a cat. My former name was Madame Fluff, which seems very appropriate. I am 9-years-old, and my latest owner had me for a year, but I was surrendered due to allergies. My newest name would indicate that I am a Calico cat. But I am really more like a long-haired Tortoiseshell. I recall that I enjoy the company of kids and love being held and playing with my human. My medical examination revealed that I have a common condition called Hyperthyroidism. It was apparent to the staff that my low weight and unkempt appearance suggested this disease. Hyperthyroidism is a manageable condition that can be controlled with a reasonably priced, twice-daily medication. It can be given as a tablet or a gel that is wiped on my ears. With proper care, I can live a long, healthy life. It has been quite a while since I have been groomed, and I have loads of mats throughout my coat. But the interviewer lady soon found out that I am a love bug. I went right up to her and snuggled close to her shoulder. I crave affection and attention, and my sweet personality makes it easy to provide these. I may not be the most enormous kitty in the cattery, but I am one of the loveiest. I have lived in a foster home, and my foster mom reports the following information about me.I have excellent litterbox skills.I like to be with my person all the time. I don`t enjoy being shut in a room by myself. I thrive on human company and would prefer a home where I can be with my person most of the time.I am fine with other cats but not interested in playing. I`m low energy.I love people. I am a professional LAP CAT! I want to be petted and cuddled, all the while purring.I look forward to meeting my forever owner asap! 12-2-24

Story
BelleAt 15, I had given up feeling calm, safe, and content. When the children I lived with were babies and not very active, I was a happy DLH dilute Tortoiseshell girl. Seven years ago, my owner brought a new cat into the home, which was a big adjustment. Once the twin six-year-olds and the 4-year-old child began trying to play with me, I spent all my time under the bed and in the master bedroom closet. When they were at school or asleep I would enjoy spending time with my adults, sitting on their laps, being petted and cuddled. I had access to one litterbox that I shared with the other cat. In hindsight, I realize that I was so stressed out by this situation I forgot how to enjoy life, display good manners, and feel comfortable. Even though this had been my home since I was a kitten, I did not feel at home. On January 2, my owner surrendered me to the HSHC. I was in rough shape with severe matting, a skin infection, and, surprise, I had only three legs. Due to an injury when I was a baby, my leg had been amputated. The medical staff treated my issues and gave me medicine, and I began to feel better. I recently moved into a foster home, and now I know what it is to feel safe, calm, and content again. My foster mom (FM) reports that I am doing exceptionally well. I have no problems using the litterbox, getting to my food, or moving about my room. I am playing with toys and thoroughly enjoying treats and cuddle time! At first, when I was still taking medication, I was leery of my FM. But now that I am finished with meds, I am always happy to see her. FM is bringing me a ramp to help me get up onto the bed, look out the window, and have fun! The lesson is, I guess you are never too old to begin having a fantastic life again. 2-24-25

Story
Please do not send inquiries. These cats can be visited at PetSmart in Carmel/Westfield (14720 US 31N) during store business hours. Applications are available at the store. These are not “cuddlers”. These are young adults that came to us from Indy Neighborhood Cats when they were kittens. They were born feral and we have been working on socialization for months. They do NOT like to be picked up, and barely allow us to pet them. But they LOVE playtime with tunnels and cat trees. ADOPTER WILL NEED TO CONTINUE SOCIALIZATION and BE PATIENT. WE WILL ONLY ADOPT THEM AS A BONDED PAIR. Azalea is a sweet girl who will only let you pet her on her terms. Larkspur will not let you move him, pick him up, or do anything to him, except pet him sometimes. He was the spiciest kitten when he came to us and hasn't changed much. He does not trust human hands. Thanks to our foster Purrcy, Larkspur will come up to me begging for attention while Purrcy is getting his daily loving. He runs off after a few pets. He needs a covered litter box with no door or he'll overshoot the sides of the litter box. These cats have not been around dogs or small children. We insist on a cat-only household with children over 12. They do great with other cats. Azalea & Larkspur are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV and are microchipped. Approximate date of birth is August 21, 2022. Adoption fee = $75 per cat ($150 total)
