Story
BeauThis just in! On 2-25-24, my foster mom reported that I was doing very well. I am sweet-natured and love being close to my humans, sleeping, cuddling, or being in the same room. However, I get startled easily and sometimes jump when people approach me suddenly. I am still very hesitant to be around the cats in the house, but I do get along great with the dog! My dog friend and I sit with each other and sometimes boop noses. I still require plenty of time to learn to trust, but once I do trust you I will become your shadow and follow you everywhere! On October 31, 2023, I was found in Carmel getting ready to go "trick or treating." I ended up at the HSHC, where I've been treated like a king. Being a stray cat, 6 years old, and unfamiliar with the idea of being a pet, I was freaked out initially. I was given a complete check-up, my live fleas were treated, and I was neutered. I went to live in a foster home to learn to trust people and relax. However, this is when I discovered that I don't like cats! I began to terrorize the boy and girl cat in my foster home. My foster mom had to split us up! She said that when I feel scared (most of the time!) I tend to freeze rather than flee. I let her pick me up, hold me, and even brush me, but I still could not relax and enjoy it. So, I am a unique combination of a bully to cats and a coward with people. I need a confident, patient owner who can give me all the time I need to become a brave family member. Obviously, I should be the only cat in the household. I'll do my best to be courageous! 1-24-24

Story
George & Bootsy You may remember us from our interview in January. We are a unique bonded couple who met on a blind date. Bootsy, at 13-years-old, is the elder of us, and I, at just 12, am the younger. We've been through a lot, including a period of illness, and were fortunate to spend time with a wonderful foster mom. Here is a summary of her feedback on our special bond. George and Bootsy were my first elderly cat fosters and my first time fostering a bonded pair. Despite their illness, they showed remarkable resilience and were the sweetest, most loving cats I've ever had. Having a bonded pair was a joy and blessing! Bootsy loves to cuddle up to your chest and snooze the day away. George always ended up napping away on my legs. It was like a full-body cat hug! Even when they were at their sickest and being syringe-fed medicine twice daily, George and Bootsy never tried to bite, scratch, or even hiss at me. They were uncomfortable, and no one likes taking meds, but they were sweet and quick to look for cuddles afterward. It absolutely blew me away! Once they began to feel better, their personalities shone through. Bootsy loves to sunbathe and watch the world go by. While George is a proper little hunter and still loves to play in his old age. I was absolutely blessed to foster these sweethearts and will never forget them.We are a comfortable couple, satisfied with a warm place to nap, kind treatment, and a loving home. We have lived with cats, dogs, and kids, but a peaceful atmosphere would be welcome. If you are also a member of AARP, you may enjoy company while watching TV. 8-19-24

Story
CodyI hope this interview will help me locate an owner who does not mind that I am slightly different from other cats. When you have a disability, it can be hard to find a home and keep it. I arrived as a stray cat on July 19, 2024. But it turns out that I had an owner who gave me to someone, who then gave me to someone else online. I have a congenital condition called cerebellar hypoplasia, which is caused by a malformation of the brain that processes motor function. Because of this, I have difficulty walking, jumping on and off of furniture, difficulty getting up and down stairs, and may experience tremors. There is no treatment for cerebellar hypoplasia; however, I can live a long, healthy life with a little assistance from my owner by modifying my environment. For example, I can walk much better on rugs than on a slippery floor. I am a friendly, upbeat 5-year-old with a lovely long black coat. Some guys might let their condition spoil their enjoyment of life. I choose to make the most of it. I greeted the interviewer lady and made my way over to her. I lay on top of her notebook and played with her pencil. We had a pleasant time, and she gave me plenty of pets. All the staff at the shelter have a crush on me because I am such a lovebug. Despite my condition, I am incredibly adaptable and have no trouble making the most of any situation. I can thrive in a new environment with the right owner. Could that be you? 8-14-24
