Story
New Hanover animal control reached out to Feline Matchmakers with an SOS for Kricket. She was surrendered to the shelter by people who "couldn't afford" to keep her anymore. Unfortunatley for Kricket, this was a tragedy. She was completely freaked out in the small cage and could not be handled by staff. At a shelter, this only means one thing. So we jumped in and brought her in to our care. With a vet visit and some blood work, we found she had pancreatitus. We treated her and it made a world of difference in her attitude. Although she has certainly settled down in foster care, she is uncomfortable around other cats, but will tolerate another cat if she has her own safe space. All. health issues have been resolved! All Feline Matchmakers cats get age appropriate vaccinations, fixed, tested and microchipped prior to adoption. Please fill in our application via this link: http://www.felinematchmakers.org We only adopt kittens and young cats out within a one hour radius of Wilmington, NC to those over 21 years old. Occasionally we make exceptions for adult cats, but we are not a transport company. IF YOU DO NOT MEET THESE GUIDELINES, YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE REJECTED. ##1788317##

Story
Minda was surrendered by her owner to Feline Matchmakers because she deficated outside the box (but pees IN the box.) Her ultrasound revealed that she has mild IBD, Irritable Bowel Disease, so we changed her diet to a grain free one. She was teaming with an intestinal parasite, which is now treated and gone. She is feeling much better now and uses a large litter box just fine. Occassionaly she still bunny hops out of the litter box and drops a small stool that was hanging on her fur.  Minda will need to remain an indoor kitty and have plenty of stimulation like a cat tree, tall scratching post and interactive activities. She will need grooming as often as possible, and enjoys it when she's in the mood. All Feline Matchmakers cats are tested, spayed, chipped and up to date on vaccinations. For those over 21 in the Wilmington, NC area, adoption applications are taken at felinematchmakers.org ##1981690##

Story
Nov. 12, 2023 Meet Charlie in  her new video ! She is the LAST kitty left from my colony rescue at Topsail Beach.  She was completely traumatized when rescued and I was told by the caretakers that she witnessed her brother killed by a coyote. Charlie is such a petite little girl and just needs LOVE!!! Barely weighing 5 lbs., she’s like a fuzzy stuffed animal that you just want to cuddle! For adoption information or to schedule a visit to the Feline Urgent Rescue & Rehab rescue facility to meet this kitty, please email FURR’s President and Founder, Terry Schultz, at adoptafurrcat@gmail.com. Learn how to adopt this kitty! FURR adopts to the Wilmington/Hampstead NC and surrounding area only and to approved homes. Story
Lucy (AKA "Lucy Momma" or "The Queen") is 12 years old and in excellent health with her last exam on May 14 2024 but she is getting older and may need assistance with her hips in the future. She is spayed. She has no special needs and is litter trained but she must be in a home without other pets or small children. She is very low maintenance and independent but loves cuddle time. She is intuitive and will curl up next to you after a particularly difficult day. She takes some time to warm up to you but once she's comfortable she will love you unconditionally. She will take to a male or female owner with no preference. She likes playing with wand toys and a good brushing but is not needy for attention. Lucy would thrive best in a calm, quiet home with plenty of evening cuddles. Lucy was adopted in Van Nuys, CA August 17 2014 and has traveled with me across the country. Her adoption paperwork stated she was 1 year old however the veterinarian informed me she was likely closer to 2 or 3.

Story
Spencer was adopted by a young lady when she lived in Alaska. She moved to Wilmington, NC and the stress was a bit too much for Spencer. He started acting unwell and she could not afford to vet him properly. It turns out that the stress caused Cystitis, which in turn caused his bladder to swell, causing crystals in his urinary tract and blood in his urine. He is on a round of medication to resolve the issue and will need a prescription food, probably for the rest of his life. Spencer will do best as the only cat in a household, but will eventually coexist with another nice cat with a lengthy introduction time. He will continue to need a low stress family. All Feline Matchmakers cats get age appropriate vaccinations, fixed, tested and microchipped prior to adoption.
