Story
Introducing Her Royal Highness, the Grand Duchess Anastasia. This fluffy former colony-cat reigns supreme over her indoor kingdom, spending countless hours sleeping or lounging while binge-watching "Bird TV" from her throne (the couch). While her subjects may long for a royal snuggle, Anastasia prefers to keep her distance - with an aversion to physical contact that would make even the most aloof monarch proud. While she does not swat or bite, Anastasia does regularly hiss. But her hisses serve as a reminder of her boundaries, telling all who dare to encroach upon her sovereignty that she is not to be trifled with. We admire a lady who speaks her mind. When not busy issuing decrees, Anastasia engages in charitable work, and is a patron of the bread bank - kneading away on her favourite sweater. She also enjoys climbing her cat tower to gaze upon her kingdom and royal subjects. In the middle of the night, Anastasia emerges from her royal chambers to chase balls and spring toys. She also finds joy in the humble cardboard scratcher, a simple scratching post, and cat dancers. Anastasia seeks an experienced adopter of royal caliber - one who appreciates her independent spirit and respects her boundaries. While she may not grant the gift of pets or cuddles, her willingness to share her space speaks volumes of her generous spirit. She will require much patience and understanding as she acclimates to her new domain and in time will grace her chosen companion with the privilege of her presence, basking in their company from a distance. For those with the wisdom to accept her on her own terms, Anastasia promises a companionship as unique and cherished as the crown jewels themselves.Anastasia has mild tartar and will likely need a dental cleaning in 2025. She is negative for FIV and FeLV. Like all ACR cats, Anastasia has been treated for fleas and parasites.

Story
Dr. Patches is a distinguished senior cat with a striking tuxedo coat, long fur and a fluffy tail and is a joy to pet. He has a wonderful personality, very affectionate and loves to keep a watchful eye on his foster mom, often finding a cozy corner of the sofa to relax in while observing daily activities. His presence is both comforting and endearing, making him a delightful companion. This handsome boy has a good appetite and thoroughly enjoys his meals. Though he has a keen interest in human food, it's important to keep him on a diet of high-quality cat food to ensure his health and well-being. Also wet food is necessary to keep his body healthy.Dr. Patches absolutely loves chin scratches and will lie down for brushing sessions. He would thrive in a home where he can continue to receive the love and care he deserves. He would be a perfect match for someone looking for a calm, affectionate, and loyal companion. His gentle nature and loving disposition make him suitable for households with older children or adults who can give him the attention he craves. Dr. Patches had a dental with several teeth extracted in January 2024. He has previously had issues with constipation and though he is stable now, stool softeners may be necessary in the future. Dr. Patches is up to date on vaccines and has been treated for fleas and parasites.

Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Microchipped, DOB January 6, 2019 Chyna is a lovely and affectionate cat. She has a beautiful coat and her paws get very fluffy, so she easily slips and slides when she plays with her toys on wooden floors. She loves to stay perched on the highest rung of the cat tree or sit and observe from her cardboard house. She follows her foster parent everywhere and meows to let them know if another cat needs their attention or they’ve forgotten part of the routine. She will stay for hours if you hold her in your arms and pet her (though she can get snappy if you try and take her from her box). She has been in a multi-cat home and really has a problem with the resident cat, though not the younger cats; overall it's believed she would be very content being the only pet in her forever home. Chyna came to her foster home overweight with a concerning cough, but she has since been medicated (and will still need it in her forever home) and put on a strict diet plan to her back to her normal weight. She loves to jump onto comfortable cushions or the seat next to you while you work.

Story
Located in Woodstock, ON DOB: June 1, 2022 Roger is just waiting to be your new best friend. He loves to be held and fawned over. Roger is also a big fan of laps. If you put him on yours, he may not move. So be careful if you have something to do later. All that said, Roger will take a lot of love and patience until he opens up and becomes the amazing cat he is. Roger is shy around children and will usually find a safe space to hide until he’s ready to socialize again. Having a feline friend would be a great plus for Roger. He could really use a pal to show him that his new home is safe and fun. He’s a chatty guy who is easily motivated motivated by food, so it should be easy to win his heart. It’ll just take a little time.

Story
*******************************************************************************************Shaggy is part of a bonded pair and MUST be adopted with his partner, Scooby.******************************************************************************************* ***AT SHELTER***"Zoinks! Where am I?" wondered Shaggy the cat.  And just like that, Shaggy found himself at the front door of EHS early one frosty morning.  This handsome, long-haired tabby boy has likely been through a lot in his short life, however, his past is now behind him as he looks to brighter days ahead. As he waits to meet his perfect family, this sweet boy is busy watching the comings and goings around him. Once a detective, always a detective. Right, Shaggy?Shaggy may greet you with a momentary hiss, but this guy is just so sweet--he's really a cuddle bug who craves attention. He has become much more accepting of pets and loves to be brushed, even pushing his head into your hand for more. He truly enjoys his one-on-one time with our dedicated volunteers, even purring to show his pleasure! Shaggy certainly does enjoy his "Scooby snacks," wet food being his preference, and let's not forget the occasional tube treat (either on or off a spoon).   Shaggy would like you to know that he wants to spend the rest of his life with his long-time best friend Scooby, so they will need to be welcomed as a pair. Given his gentle disposition, it is likely that he would thrive in a quiet environment where he can enjoy all the good things life has to offer--safety, food, and above all, love. As for companions other than humans and Scooby, Shaggy is currently sharing his space with a compatible feline, so adding another team member is certainly an option. Like his early years, his previous contact with dogs remains a mystery. so we're uncertain how he would react to them.Shaggy's just waiting to meet his perfect match. Could he be the one to pull at your heart strings? You'll only find out if you drop by to meet him. You never know, you could be in for adventures of your own!--------------------The adoption fee for a single cat at EHS is $175. Take home an adult feline friend for your kitty and the adoption fee for the pair is $300! For kittens under six months of age, the adoption fee is $200...or, double your cuteness quotient and adopt two wee furballs for $350! If you mix and match (kitten plus cat), the adoption fee is $300. Each of our cats is spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, snap tested for FIV/FeLV, dewormed, and flea treated prior to adoption. Kittens are not spayed or neutered until 5 months of age, but the cost of spay/neuter will be covered as part of the adoption.--------------------Interested in adopting Shaggy? It's easy! Just click "Adopt a Cat" on the EHS website (etobicokehumanesociety.com) and fill out our "Cat Adoption Form."  An EHS representative will be pleased to help.
