Story
Evangeline and Nadia`s adoption fee has been graciously sponsored by a private donor! This pretty classic tabby is Evangeline. Evangeline arrived here with her sister Nadia after they were found abandoned in their prior home. A super sweet girl, Evangeline has luxating patellas. `Luxating patella is a condition where the kneecap (patella) moves out of its normal groove on the femur (thigh bone).` This will be a management issue which the feline staff can further discuss with potential adopters and it doesn`t seem to affect her negatively at this time. Evangeline is an active and playful girl who loves attention, pets and is an absolute purr machine! Evangeline and Nadia are quite the bonded pair with so much love to give. If they could find a home where they`ll receive as much love as they give, they`ll have a perfect life. If you think you may be interested in learning more about this pair and potentially adopting them, please fill out a cat adoption application and speak to our feline staff directly. Nadia and Evangeline`s adoption fee has been graciously sponsored by a private donor! This lovable and sweet blue-eyed girl is Nadia. Nadia arrived here along with her sister Evangeline after they were found abandoned in their prior home. Nadia is a strong and resilient young cat, who despite having deformed back legs, moves about and seeks attention and affection from those who will provide it. She`s quick to greet you to try to play and sit on your lap. This incredibly sweet girl has lived indoors only and must remain so due to her condition and she is completely bonded to her sister Evangeline. Their ideal home environment would be a single level home, so they can navigate their surroundings with ease. The staff is asking they be adopted through our Buddy Program. Meet Ruby! Ruby is a laid-back lady looking to be the queen of the castle. Having arrived here from a busy household, this green-eyed beauty is hoping for a quieter home without other cats or dogs. Ruby is a very friendly and sweet girl who would do best with teens and older. She loves her people, but can become a bit shy when strangers visit. Although shy to start, once she comes out of her shell, she`s truly a lovely girl with a dog-like personality who will follow you around. She also enjoys finding toys and amusing herself with them! Ruby will need to be on a strict dietary regimen as she could stand to lose a few pounds. If you have the purr-fect home she`s hoping for, please fill out a cat adoption application and speak with our feline staff directly. *Special needs -- please speak with our feline staff. Story
S-S-Smokin’ Queen Sheba is looking for a special forever-after home. Sheba is a pretty 10 year old dilute tortoiseshell who was recently diagnosed with diabetes at her annual vet visit. While we are hoping for someone who already has experience with this disease, TASP is also willing to train someone. Both her shots and the blood level tests are relatively easy tasks, but it is important to have a schedule where you will be able to feed her grain-free food and then administer the shots twice a day, 12 hours apart. Sheba has adapted very well to her new regimen, and actually initiates it as part of her meal routine now, along with some lovin’ of course. She is eating her new food like a champ and also enjoys a few freeze-dried treats at bedtime. Now let me tell you a little about her sparkling personality. She is a smart and quirky cat, downright hilarious at times. Unlike many cats who will just give you a blank stare, Sheba actually responds to “no” and “back” commands. She has a snowman bed, but she chooses to sleep on top of it, rather than inside. When she puts her paws up on your leg, it means, she has designated this as your cuddle time. Like most cats, she enjoys sleeping during both the day and night, but also enjoys her playtime. While Sheba does like to chase balls or wrestle with some toys, she also amuses herself with cardboard juice or milk cartons, paper and aluminum foil. She hasn’t yet shared with us who or what these imaginary friends are, but she sure has a great time socializing with them. As a matter of fact, these are the only playmates she desires; she does not want to share even larger common areas with another pet. She loves the attention of humans though, known or new. She really misses having the company of her own human to rub against and purr to, and who could dote on her with some good conversation and pets in return. Are you the kind soul this pretty girl is waiting for? If so, please fill out our application http://www.theanimalsupportproject.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Adoption-Application_TASP_PDF.pdf

Story
Hi! My name is Mittens. About 10 years ago, I showed up on the doorstep of a house in Rensselaer. I am polydactyl (having an extra toe) on all 4 paws. My coloring makes me look like I am wearing one of the thumb-hole sweaters. My family members: 2 other female cats (an orange tabby and another tuxedo (my facial mirror-image)), both around 13 years old; 1 male American & English Cocker Spaniel mix, also about 13 years old; 2 female humans. I’ve had a wonderful time living here, but the dog & I don’t get along too well. He smells like dog & I don’t like it. We’ve had some changes in the house recently (1 human moved out & my orange tabby sister passed away). I’m having more issues with the dog because I don’t have the human’s undivided attention & I get mad at him for being here. My dream home is one where I am the only pet, or where there are plenty of humans to spend time with.

Story
LuCasey is a beautiful, overly friendly 10 lb kitty that LOVES everyone and everything. This girl is about 4 years old and was found wandering 3 years ago under a bridge, surrounded by highway and saltwater, and nowhere to go. People were fishing and noticed her spinning in circles and acting very strange. To find out over a few hours she was drinking the salt water and making herself sick – With some fresh water, groceries and love, this girl came around in no time and the good Samaritans knew they couldn’t leave her down there to fend for herself. LuCasey has lived happily in a home with 5 other dogs and 1 other cat. She is a wonderful girl. She loves to be right next to you, if it was her choice she would be in your lap 24/7. She is the best lap kitty with the biggest purrs. She strives to be petted all the time. She has been mainly indoors, but she does enjoy going onto the back porch and sunbathing outside in an enclosed area. She would be happy just being an indoor kitty, sunbathing on windowsills. LuCasey would do best in a home where somebody is home more often than not and somebody that wants a lap cat or a cat that loves dogs and doesn’t mind other kitties. She is not sensitive to food and loves all treats! She hears a treat bag, and she will come running from wherever she is. LuCasey is fixed, current on vaccines, microchipped and will have her health certificate giving her a clean bill of health from a veterinarian. You can apply to adopt LuCasey at www.pawsitive-impact-animal-rescue.org

Story
Tammy, Terry and Otty are our 3 momma cats that all gave birth outside, in harsh elements and with no guaranteed food, water or shelter. They didn’t ask to grow up outside, where they would have to fend for themselves but now the difference is, they were not only fending for themselves, but for their now newborn kittens. Each mom had kittens around the same time – about 4 months ago. All in different areas but mostly around the Texas/Mexico area. This area is almost a 3rd world country for animals. You see animals wandering the streets at every turn, cats ran over in the roads and left for weeks. Animals scavenging in trash cans for food and drinking dirty gutter water just to stay hydrated. These 3 girls were going to be just more stray cats, and probably soon, roadkill. Thanks to a bunch of good Samaritans who notified rescues of these moms and kittens in the conditions they were – Terry – Was actually a Mexico kitty – born and grew up outside. She had no owners. She hung out around one neighborhood where the right person visiting from the states saw her, big bellied and ready to pop with kittens. She asked all the neighbors if anyone wanted to claim her, nobody did. They also did not want her in their neighborhood anymore, especially having kittens. So, with no guarantee and unsure what to do, the good Samaritan decided she would help this momma cat. Within a day, Terry had 3 beautiful kittens. The kittens just look like their sweet mom, orange and white. Terry has big, beautiful honey-colored eyes. Her eyes really look into your soul and just melt your heart. She does not have a mean bone in her body. She has since turned from an outside cat to an all indoor one, and she’s loving her new life. Unfortunately, she doesn’t know it’s just temporary though. Terry is a bit fearful of doggies and is nervous around other kitties (but not mean). She is getting used to being held and would make a wonderful, cuddly, lap kitty for a quieter home. She loves to relax, sunbathe and just stretch out in the coolness of the home. Terry is on the smaller side weighing only about 6-7 lbs. She’s very petite. She is approximately 2 years old. Tammy – Tammy is a petite, but beautiful, white and grey kitty who also only weighs about 6-7 lbs. Tammy was found by a volunteer’s family member along the Texas Mexico border. She gravitated towards that family members’ home because she would put cat food outside for her cats, and Tammy, fending for herself, was starving and needed food. She ended up having kittens at this person’s property, but this property is in the country where there are a lot of predators for small animals. One by one the kittens were found dead or just missing completely. It was down to 2 when she notified our volunteer about them. Unfortunately, she then decided she didn’t want to give them up. The kittens were about 4-5 weeks at this point, and suddenly 1 of the 2 were found dead. That’s when she surrendered them to us, and we got them to safety where Tammy and her kitten Minnie were thriving. Minnie, her only kitten, was adopted and is now living his best life in Connecticut. Now it’s Tammy’s turn to find her forever home. Tammy is such a sweet girl. She loves to be pet and she loves her humans. Despite only knowing the outside, she has turned completely indoors where she has thoroughly enjoyed the AC and her cat trees. She likes to hang her legs off the cat trees and watch the busyness of the house and look out the windows at her old life. Tammy loves other cats and gets along great with them, is a little timid with dogs but with patience, can live happily in a home with them. Otty aka Otilia – Otty used to be an apartment cat down by the Mexico/Texas border. She was a very loved girl – that is until her owners moved and decided they didn’t want her anymore. They tossed her outside of their old apartment unit and left, never turning back. Otty didn’t know what to do, how to fend for herself, or how to live. She only knew the indoors. The neighbors would feed her because they felt bad, but nobody took her in. Animal control didn’t care. Months went by, Otty never left those apartments, and she soon found herself in more of a pickle, she was pregnant and ready to burst. She ended up having 5 beautiful kittens behind her old owner’s apartment. They were born in the grass, with no shelter from predators. Those newborn kittens were going to be instant prey to the coyotes, raccoons and other wildlife in the area. The cleaning lady of the complex heard crying and went to investigate when she found 5 newborn kittens and Otty, laying there nursing them against the building. She took a picture, sent it around, but no rescues had room. Our volunteers heard about it, contacted us and immediately went and picked them up. Otty and all 5 of her babies survived, and the kittens are now all adopted and in their forever homes in the northeast. Now it’s Otilia’s turn. Otilia loves to be petted and lay on the couch next to her humans. She’s a very lazy girl, but after raising 5 kids for 8 weeks, I think most of us would be too. She loves to lay belly down, legs stretched in every direction on the foster’s cool tile floor. Otty enjoys playing with toys when she’s not napping. Her favorite one is the feather on the end of a stick being waved around. She prefers to be laying down on her tummy when playing with it. She has met dogs, and her motherly instinct is to hiss to protect her kittens, but now with no kittens, she’s understanding dogs can be friends and is getting used to them. She doesn’t mind cats at all. Otty, Tammy and Terry are all purring machines. They love to be loved, and they all love pets from their humans. They have adapted to the inside love perfectly and have no issues. All 3 cats are litter box trained. If you’re looking for calm, relaxed cats that won’t tear up your home and are a bit lazy, and enjoy companionship or lap cats, 1 of these girls will be perfect for you. Please consider adopting an adult kitty today. If you’re interested in applying to adopt – Please fill out an application at www.pawsitive-impact-animal-rescue.org
