Bentley is a 1.5-year old male Dutch Shepherd mix youngster (most likely Belgian Malinois) who was picked up as a stray by Stanislaus Animal Services. This poor puppy was so traumatized at the time of intake, but is now safe with rescue in a wonderful foster home, where he can decompress and begin to feel safe and loved. Bentley is a sweet little boy, and didn’t hesitate to come to our volunteer upon first greeting. He is now fully crate trained, and does well with other dogs. Initially, he was very shy when meeting other dogs, but has become a pretty confident pup, and loves to run and play. His first night in his foster home, he slept in his crate all night with no issues. He loves his people and at times wants to be right next to you, waiting for pets and lovin. Bentley will require a committed and loving human who will make him a part of the family, providing the care and attention that every young pup needs. Only older dog-savvy children 8 and above in an adoptive home will be considered. It will be necessary for an adopter to have recent successful experience in raising a GSD, Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, or other large breed working puppy. An adopter who will begin and continue his obedience training based upon positive reinforcement is recommended, including positive steps to discourage unwanted behavior, to ensure he remains on the path of a well-behaved canine companion. She was found on our doorstep when she was ~5 weeks old and we've been raising her ever since with our lab / ridgeback mix who is 3 years old. Kinzie is the spunkiest, smartest, most energetic girl! She spent most of her life in the shelter but thanks to CBR saving her you wouldn’t even know it. She’s so intelligent, even just one training session with her she picks up so much! Her leash skills are great, she loves her crate, and is fully potty trained! Kinzie loves being outside, and would do great in an active home wanting to walk, run, or hike daily. She can be a little shy at first with new people, but feed her a treat and she warms up quickly. She’s fiercely loyal to her people and loves to please them. She loves affection and will do anything to earn your touch! She’s working on her jumping, so would probably be best in a home with adults only or older children. Kinzie is the sweetest girl and would love to be a part of your home!

Story

Obie (short for Old Boy) is a sweet old boy looking for a comfy couch to call his own. He has a beautiful fluffy coat that he enjoys a nice brushing of. Obie is a quiet and dignified couch potato. He is fine with everyone but particularly loves men. He loves ear scratches and a nice snooze. Obie is currently on medication for seizures. He takes this medication twice a day and it has greatly reduced his occurrence of seizures. He takes his medications easily if hidden in cream cheese, sour cream or yogurt. Obie is house trained with a doggie door right now. He enjoys spending his afternoons outside relaxing. He can be scared by loud things like fireworks but has done well with CBD as needed for this very specific anxiety. Obie does not really care for treats or toys. Treats he has enjoyed for training include lamb roast, mashed potatoes and eggs. He thinks vegetables are yucky. He seems to have been new to dog food but has taken to it well with some patience. Obie previously lived with another large dog and got along well with her. She would even snap at him sometimes and he would not really react. He simply wanted to be her friend. We also believe Obie will be fine with mannerly children. He has met toddlers and takes care to not knock them over. When meeting cats indoors, Obie was excited but did not necessarily exhibit high prey drive. He allowed his foster mom to call him back as she removed the cat. When he sees cats outdoors he like to try to chase them, though this is true of most dogs (even those that live with cats). Meet Lucy, a beautiful and charismatic 1 y/o Mal mix! We rescued Lucy from a high-kill shelter in LA with less than 1 hour left before she was to be euthanized - all because she had developed an upper respiratory infection at the shelter. Lucy is a happy-go-lucky girl with a strong but gentle demeanor who LUVs and plays hard. This babe is athletic and brave but also affectionate, curious, and dignified. Lucy will need a home that can match her activity level. She thrives when she has a job - whether that's training, a game of fetch, or helping her foster dad work and run errands. She LUVs going on hikes, bike rides and skateboading with her foster dad, learning and mastering new skills, and socializing. Lucy is a frequent guest at local coffee shops where she enjoys hanging out while her foster dad works. Lucy joined our Rescue Director and her dogs after leaving the shelter. She did great with her foster fur siblings, playing and lounging around with them, and with other dogs she meets on her adventures. She loves nothing more than to be by her persons side. This babe has it going on! Her brains and beauty aid in maiking her the pawfect companion. We haven't been able to test her with kids yet so for the time being, we're recommending she goes to a home with older, calmer kids who are experienced with dogs. [Located in Seattle] Honey is a beautiful 5 year young GSD who had a ruff start to life. You could see it in her body, her eyes, her skin + fur, and her poorly neglected ears + teeth We don't know where she was before the shelter or how she ended up in the shelter but she looks like another beautiful dog who was overbred + then dumped by the only family she knew when they couldn't use her anymore. Thankfully, we were able to pull Honey from the shelter with only 15 minutes left before her final notice expired. As soon as we got Honey out of the shelter and into her foster home, she became a different dog - calm, trusting, + luving. Honey continues to come out of her shell with her doting foster. She enjoys going for walks, has a healthy appetite, is house-trained, and the sweetest luv bug who adores humans! Honey is being fostered with 3 other dogs (raining in size from small to large) and does great with them - no resource or food guarding, can eat out of the same bowl as the other dogs, and shares her space and bones. She can live with other dogs with slow and proper introductions, and time to adjust to her new home and fur siblings. Honey also lives with a cat and has shown little interest in the cat. We recommend her going to a home without kids or with older, calm, and dog-experienced kids because we don't know if she had any experience with kids before we rescued her and hasn't had any exposure to them with her foster. Meet one of our howliday LUVs, Jeff. He's a 2 y/o, 75+ lb (and still putting on weight), goofy, confident Mal mix who is need of an experienced foster or adopter. We believe Jeff was purchased from a greed/breeder and improperly “trained” to be a protection dog. When he became “too much” he was forced to live outside until he escaped or was abandoned. ⁣ ⁣ What we originally thought was a fear of men seems to be an instinctual reaction to protect and guard his person/people. Jeff LUVs the ladies (and the ladies LUV him) but requires slow and proper introductions with men.
