Story
I'm Carissa, a 2-year-old, 60-pound Dutch Shepherd. I'm a survivor: a very kind rescuer found me starving, fending for myself in the woods in Texas. She saw what an amazing, sweet girl I am and wanted to make sure I had a chance at a good life. I love people and get along with all dogs -- I really enjoy playing with canine friends! I also adore children. I have such a lovely temperament I might even make a good service or emotional support dog. I'm smart and already know a few commands, like fetch and sit. I'm also completely healthy, heartworm negative, and spayed. Mostly, I'm just a sweetheart who wants to love and be loved. All I need now is my forever family! Please apply at https://www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp. Available after 8/26/24.

Story
Rainbow is looking for the love of a lifetime! We have her listed so that we can share her story and perhaps find someone that will understand her needs and have the patience to see her become a wonderful companion dog. There is always hope. I am her foster mom. She is timid and fearful and although she allows me to touch and pet her, she is a very special case. She is currently fostered outside in a large dog pen and has run of my backyard at night. I often have other foster dogs and cats/kittens so it is always a busy time for taking care of everyone. She loves her dog house and comes out sometimes when called. She was trapped on the property of a school in Homestead. We rescued her pups and then trapped her. She had serious mastitis and needed surgery. This was 2.5 years ago. We had a couple of trainers come to my house and work with her. She does not like the leash although she was able to run alongside a trainer on a bike ride. She loves cheese. She has never been fostered inside of a house, though we do think that would change her perception of life. We have just never found a foster that would accommodate her special personality and be able to spend the time that she needs. Rainbow has been around my dogs and she has never been assertive or aggressive. She does sometimes bark at the dog next door through the fence. Rainbow weighs about 60 lbs. She eats well and probably doesn't get enough exercise. She is probably about 6/7 years old. Rainbow is not your typical dog. We do still keep hope in our hearts that someone will come along that will devote time and care to her so she can be the dog that she was born to be. If you would rather have a dog that is already trusting and ready for adoption, we have others. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. Story
🐾BRUTUS🖤 Brutus is a 2 year old Dutch Shepherd/Lab mix according to his embark testing! He’s a big cuddly goofball and loves to make his humans laugh! 🥰 This lanky boy is very smart and loves to do training/learn new things and keep his brain busy, which makes sense with his awesome breed mix! He’s very affectionate and loves to follow his person around and cuddle. He rides great in the car and is fully crate and housetrained. 💯 Brutus is a great swimmer and loves to play fetch in the water, his foster is currently training him for dock diving! Despite being very active and having lots of energy he has a great off switch, too. He can get excited very easily and has some manners that need work but his foster mama is having so much fun training him & he’s learning quickly. 🐶 If you’re interested in dog sports, Brutus would be a great match for you! Especially if you’re a beginner - he is so eager to learn and please.🥰 For his forever family, Brutus is seeking an active home with someone who is willing to keep up with his training and give him plenty of exercise. He thrives when staying active both physically and mentally. He does great with all sizes of dogs & older kids. He is a very social boy and would do great with some dog friends in his home! 🏡 Does Brutus sound like the adventure buddy you’ve been looking for? 🫶🏼 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED.
