Annie is a gorgeous 3-year-old female Dutch Shepherd mix. She is a very happy, sensitive, smart, and energetic dog. Annie is house trained. She knows the commands sir, lay down and stay. She walks fairly well on leash, she may pull a bit if there is a squirrel to investigate. She usually enjoys a good run at the dog park then she sleeps for the rest of the day. Annie is great with the 1, 2, and 5-year-old children she loves with. She is dog-selective but can be great with other dogs who are more submissive. Annie does have a high prey drive, so she shouldn't be with cars or small dogs. Annie is a very sweet dog who loves to cuddle and loves belly rubs. She does not bark unless she hears something suspicious outside. Annie does need a good fenced in yard or she will try to get out and find neighborhood buddies to play with. Annie would make a really wonderful companion and hiking dog. She weighs 75 pounds and is full grown. She is microchipped. Meet and greets are by appointment only with approved applicants. Adoption fee is waved but the application process is not. We believe you can always teach an ‘old’ dog new tricks so we highly recommend continued obedience training for this smart pup; it stimulates the dog's mind and establishes a good dog/adopter relationship. This pup, like all pups should be on heartworm preventative, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! MEET MAX THE PERFECT ONE! He is a 6-year-old Dutch Shepard mix with beautiful bright dreamy eyes who thinks he’s human and loves everyone that he meets. His sister and her puppies were pulled from the shelter, and he was left behind for two years and became the house pet of the shelter, and everyone adored him, but it is time for him to find a new home. He has a gentle and kind soul. Spent time with a 87 year old mother and was very calm and respectful. He doesn’t need another doggy to be happy but acclimates if there was another doggy. He doesn’t need an active family just a family that wants a doggy to love. He thinks he’s 10 lbs. but weighs 60 lbs. He extremely friendly to other dogs and loves children. He walks perfect on a leash and loves to talk long walks and does not pull responds well to directions. His foster family loves him dearly and would love the opportunity to share more stories about MAX! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Snuggles fetch and food!  What do these things have in common?  Ranger!  These just happen to be his most favorite things!  If you too love puppy snuggles then he’s the guy for you.   After a seemingly never ending game of fetch, Ranger will happily settle down and chill with a chew bone or even better a nap snuggled up next to his favorite person.   Food is up next on his list of faves, which makes him an ideal candidate for training! He loves to learn and picks up new skills so quickly.  All he needs is a new family to continue his education. It’s hard to believe this adorable guy was taken to a shelter in SW VA after being hit by a car and no one claimed him.  After being cleared by a vet he was able to be transferred to Mutts for a chance at a better life!  It’s taken some time for us to really get to know him but after spending quality time in not one, but two foster homes (he’s so popular two foster families are sharing his time!), we’ve discovered what an amazing boy Ranger is! To note, Ranger can be uncomfortable and reactive to some dogs while on leash.  We feel with the right fear free training, time and patience, this can be managed and improved.  Ranger has had some good play sessions with female dogs and was able to coexist in a foster home with calm, female dogs.  At this time it is best for Ranger to live in a single family home with a fenced yard where his interactions around other dogs can be managed.  He is able to go for walks with a plan and lots of treats for distractions.  Trust us when we say this love bug will be worth all the extra effort!  **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at http://www.muttloverescue.org/application.html OR write to adopt@muttloverescue.org.
