Story
Rocket Man is a dog with a strong personality. He is short and stocky, making him stand out among other dogs. Rocket Man enjoys being in control and likes to be the boss of the pack. He craves attention and loves being around people, always seeking out affection and playtime. However, his assertiveness can sometimes lead to him bullying less dominant or submissive dogs. Despite this behavior, Rocket Man's loving nature and need for human companionship make him an ideal companion for an active and experienced dog owner. He enjoys running around with other dogs at the dog park. With proper training and socialization, Rocket Man can become a loyal and loving pet who will always be by his owner's side. This bundle of cuteness came from an overcrowded shelter in Alabama. The shelter is a scary place for a little puppy, fortunately she has been rescued by K-9 Lifesavers and landed a nice foster home. Noelle is now ready to find her forever home. Could that be with you? Noelle is very sweet and great with other dogs. She can be a tad shy at first but warms up very quickly.  She will need another pup in the home to help her with her confidence.  If you are looking to add a playmate for your current dog, she would be an amazing addition!  At her young age, Noelle is in her prime for training and socialization too. If you're looking for a companion who will love you unconditionally and bring a sense of joy and companionship to your home, Noelle is the perfect choice. She's waiting to share her love and sweetness with a family that will cherish her as much as she will them. Submit an application today and change this very deserving girl's life forever! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/. Story
Meet Boo! Boo is a 6 month old Mountain Feist. He is a small dog (around 20 pounds) and is the cutest boy with loads of personality. Boo is very active, loving and super playful. He is a happy ball of ENERGY! Boo is good with children but would be best in a home without cats or small animals (he chases and barks at cats in the foster home) to include chickens. He has a high prey drive so he loves to hunt, track, chase things and investigate. Boo is extremely intelligent, walks well on leash, knows some commands, and is house trained (goes outside to potty). Boo would love to have a new best friend. Could that be you? Info on the breed : The Mountain Feist, also called the Treeing Feist or Feist Dog, is a small and agile breed originating in the southern United States. These dogs are typically compact and well-muscled, with a short coat that can come in a variety of colors. Despite their diminutive size, Mountain Feists exhibit boundless energy and enthusiasm.Their acute senses and sharp instincts enable them to excel in treeing and tracking, making them a favorite among hunters and outdoors enthusiasts. The Feist Dog is characterized by intelligence, making them quick learners and well-suited to various dog sports and activities. They are loyal and affectionate with their families, often forming strong bonds with their owners. Feist Dogs are known for their alert and protective disposition, making them effective watchdogs. Additionally, their manageable size and adaptability to both rural and urban environments have endeared them to many households seeking a spirited and devoted canine companion. Characteristics of the Feist Feists are affectionate, outgoing, energetic dogs who absolutely adore their human family members. They make wonderful companions and are “certainly man’s best friend”. A feist is a small hunting dog. This group descended from the terriers brought over to the United States by British miners and other immigrants. These terriers probably included crosses between the Smooth Fox Terrier, the Manchester Terrier, and the now-extinct English White Terrier. Feists are small to medium-sized dogs 10 to 18 in (25 to 46 cm) tall, and weigh 15 to 30 lb (6.8 to 14 kg), short-coated dogs with long legs. The ears are set high on the head and are button, erect, or short hang. The tail can be natural, bobtail, or docked. As feists are bred for hunting, not as show dogs, little to no consistency is seen in appearance (breed type), and they may be purebred, crossbred, or mixed-breed dogs. They are identified more by the way they hunt and their size than by their appearance. Although its exact origins are unknown, the Mountain Feist was first bred in the 17th century in the Ozark Mountain regions of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. It’s a small to medium-sized canine developed to hunt small game like squirrels, birds, and raccoons.Sometimes mistaken for a Cur or Jack Russel terrier, the Mountain Feist is a feisty, energetic dog that loves to run and chase game. They make excellent hunting partners and family pets with the proper obedience training. Mountain Feist Dog Breed Information & Characteristics https://dogtime.com/dog-breeds/mountain-feist Feist Dog Breed Info: Pictures, Facts, Traits & More https://www.dogster.com › dog-breeds › Feist If you have a cat or small animal, like a hamster, it’s often recommended you do not have a Feist in the home. These dogs were bred to be hunters, so their prey drives are extremely high. That and their boundless energy make them sometimes dangerous for animals smaller than them.
