If you are looking for a sweet, relaxed girl with a gentle nurturing soul, Caroline is your girl!  She is the friendliest pup who loves everyone.  She would be the perfect companion for a family who wants a quiet, friendly pet with good house manners.  Ideally, Caroline would like to be in a home where someone is home most of the day.  Nothing makes her happier than being near her human and getting a belly rub.  She enjoys the love and gives it back 10 fold.  She will give you kisses!   She is good on a leash and enjoys her walks.  She is house broken and learning tricks.   Mandatory in person transfer date: August 23rd at the Petsmart in Tysons Corner between 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. Please contact Rebecca Stein (RebeccaS@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.is sweet puppers! is not marine mammal! PLATYPUS NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Platypus        Best Guess for Breed:  Feist and terrier mix  Best Guess for Age:  5 years as of July 2024       Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 9 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus - needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride after completing heartworm treatment! Special Adoption Considerations: Platypus is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Platypus is Looking For: His forever home, on dry land! While he was in the rural, overcrowded Texas shelter where he landed due to no fault of his own, he saw a documentary on dogs and realized he'd much rather be a well-loved family pet than an underwater mammal. Feeding on insect larvae and tadpoles is just a whole lot more work than chowing down on quality kibble, even if it's served up in a slow feeder. Plus. pups get to go on sniffy walks, see the mountains and the beaches from the other side and get pup cups from Starbucks for being Very Good Boys. He has so much to offer in exchange - all the adoring gazes and cuddles he's storing up in the shelter, and loyal companionship for all his days. And he promises to not lay eggs in the tub when you're bathing him, too. What do you say? Does Platypus have a spot in your lap and your life? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. He's eager to get his own humans for sniffy walks and romps in parks and all the adventures they dream up. And his size is a huge plus - if he can't scramble over boulders, he can easily be toted over!He also wants to make pup and people pals along the way, quality kibble, and a cushy dog bed. But you know what he wants most of all? To know he's safe and loved and under his own roof. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes and snuggles and loyal companionship. What do you say? Story
Please contact Chelsea Powell (chelseap@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.small sweet girl ready to play! DENA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name: Dena         Best Guess for Breed:   Feist and terrier mix Best Guess for Age:  10 months as of August 2024         SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight:  10.4 lbs as of 7/25/24; might have a bit more to grow Gets Along With:  Dena does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. We haven't seen her with cats but she can be tested. We would be cautious placing her in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home Special Adoption Considerations: Because Dena is shy, she needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. We would be cautious placing Dena in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.  Dena is Looking For:  Her forever home! Dena isn't long out of puppyhood, hasn't seen nearly enough of the world, and is eager to get her own humans for all those adventures! She's up for it all - romps in parks, sniffy walks in the neighborhood, and excursions ranging from hikes in the mountains to trips to Starbucks for pup cups. Making new pup and people pals along the way sounds great to her too. To get there, she needs extra loving and patient adopters who understand she hasn't seen enough of the world and needs to experience new places at her pace. A welcoming resident dog will helpshow her how to dog too!  If the best guess for breed - feist - is accurate, she's gonna have a lot of awesome young-dog energy, will want plenty of mental and physical enrichment, and will give you lots of laughs along the way. Plus cuddles. You'll get those along with loyal companionship and all the love in her little body.   What do you say? Is Dena the one for your home and your heart? Story
Sarah is a high energy girl and at 8 months old her current situation is not working. She gets no exercise and we really need your help Could you foster ??? Yes we desperately need a person who could work with her and really get her out to exercise. She is very friendly and happy and likes everyone she sees. She is around 30 pounds and a big yard to run in is much needed. She knows how to sit for treats but she would love to get out and hike and run and be your loyal companion. She is up for adoption too. Please reach out if you are ready for a pretty strong sweet girl. She does love other dogs (All dogs) but she needs to learn how to play too. Never has had a chance to have fun. Teresa 2767910475. For Pete's Sake Animal Rescue
