Story
Charming Chris! He is a good boy but will need some obedience training. He is a little selective of his doggie friends so he will have to meet all housemates before adoption. He was found as a stray on 7/31/2023 in Harmony Township with a collar but No ID, No Microchip. No one came looking for him. Chris is a Flat Coated Retriever about 4 years old. The people who found him named him so we kept the name of 'Chris'. He would do best in a home with older children and no cats.UPDATE: 8/11/23 Chris has been to the vet and has tested positive for heart worms. He won't be able to start treatment at the shelter due to the fact he must remain quiet and be in a quiet environment. Please consider helping Chris by finding him a home that will help him! There is a group that will help assist, in some manner, with the cost of his treatment to an approved adopter. Don't let this be the reason you don't adopt him, he still deserves a loving family! Come meet Chris at the Morrow County Dog Shelter, Mt. Gilead, OH. 419-946-1747 August 7, 2024, 4:35 pm

He loves to hop in and out of a baby pool. Playing tug with his foster siblings is always a good time. He could play fetch for days and actually brings it back. He enjoys walks and taking in all the smells. Marty equally enjoys chilling and getting loved on, such an affectionate guy. He’s always excited about a car ride and will sit quietly just enjoying the adventure. Dislikes: Marty can be nervous when new people come visit, but then realizes treats galore will be tossed. What makes this dog special: Marty is such a joy to have around. He fit into his foster home immediately. What good manners! He knows basic commands like sit and down. Marty is 100% potty trained. He immediately goes to his room when asked and sleeps quietly until he’s let out. He’s a great listener and just wants to please. Marty is medium energy. He loves to play but then is content to lounge with his person. He loves love and is always reassuring us he’s our guy with his affection. Story
Name: Anderson Cooper Gender: Male Age: 6 months Expected Adult Size: Medium (25-50 lbs) Breed: Lab Mix Energy Level: Medium-High Dog Friendly: Cooper likes to wrestle and play at daycare but needs to be the only dog at home.  Cat Friendly: Yes Kid Friendly: Yes, kids 12+ because he needs guidance and has a lot of energy Apartment Friendly: Yes Physical Fence Requirement: Physical fence preferred but not required with regular walks/exercise Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes What makes this dog special: If you missed the instagram post, Anderson Cooper was promoted on social media by the real Andy Cohen (@bravoandy) himself! You're actually adopting a little super star by adopting this special boy. He's a super fun loving guy, looking to be your ride or die all day long, then your lap dog come evening.  He has been uninterested in cats and horses. One of the best leash walkers we've ever met. Coop can be on a tie out, and while a fence is great, hasn’t been necessary as he has fantastic recall. He's also great in the car! Our favorite thing about Coop is how he will greet you with a smile, a kiss and jump right into your arms. He truly loves humans and wants to be around them as much as he can.  Ideal Home/Adopter: Looking for an active home (hiking, running, agility, continues training classes, etc) would be best for his high energy.  Coop attends daycare and is an absolute favorite among the employees. He loves to romp and play with the big dogs! (He thinks he is a big dog after all!) Cooper has basic obedience but he is just a pup so still has some things to learn, but he is very smart and very treat motivated.  Anderson Cooper's adoption fee is $350. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in Anderson, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved.
