Story
Meet Reba We rescued gorgeous Reba from a high-kill shelter. This girl is such a keeper! She is at the top of our sweetest dogs list! She is a lovely and charming pup. Reba is about seven years old and looks to have some fox hound or maybe some beagle in her. She is sweet and affectionate, and very confident. As she has settled in with us, she has found her hound voice! She loves people and will most likely be great with kiddos as well. She gives slow motion hugs and doggie kisses. She loves other dogs and we’ll test for kitties. Reba is full of energy and loves to walk. When she was getting her glamour shots taken, she wanted to go for a car ride with our photographer. She loves car rides! Most likely Reba found herself at a kill shelter and was overlooked by adopters because of her heartworms. Heartworms are easily prevented. But once contracted the treatment is expensive and so many good dogs end up being euthanized because of them. Having met Reba, we can’t see any other reason why this beautiful young dog would be at risk. She has wonderful manners, she’s great with everyone she meets, she loves other dogs, and she has a bright and sunny personality. She even seems house-trained. We’ll get Reba’s heartworms treated and we’ll work with her adopter through treatment if she’s adopted before her treatment ends. For the near future, Reba is relegated to leash walks and quiet strolls, which she enjoys immensely. She enjoys exploring and everything is so much fun. Her energy and optimism are contagious. If looking for a great family companion, Reba is a gem! If interested in Reba, please submit an application online at: charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Once you submit it please email or call us so we can verify we have it. Our email is smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net. Phone: 706-865-4135 All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Our shelter is closed to the general public. However, for approved adopters we are making appointments to meet and adopt your fur baby. Location: 4823 Helen Hwy., Sautee, GA 30571, Phone: 706-865-4135 Email: smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net Our shelter in Sautee GA is located about 3 miles south of the alpine town of Helen in northeast GA.

Story
Meet Izzy Izzy and her 7 beautiful puppies found themselves in animal control on the euthanasia list like so many other wonderful dogs! Since we couldn't stand to see them die, Castoff Pet Rescue was able to rescue them from death row and find wonderful homes for all her puppies but now it's her turn! Izzy is a young hound mix, with a beautiful coat. She is active and would do good with a job, lots of play and walks. She is housebroken and crate trained, and would be so happy to be in a home! While she is shy around new people, once she gets to know you she will shake you down for treats. No cats or chickens, but Izzy does well with other dogs after proper introduction. Like so many hounds, she loves a good scent, and is always on the hunt for one, so she will climb a fence so she needs a tall privacy fence or walk on leash only. She would be a great trail dog. Izzy is such a sweet girl and full of energy. Would need a fenced in yard to run around in. Loves to play ball and go for walks. Not so good with other dogs so she'd need to be an only dog. Does not like chickens! She was in our rescued program so she knows basic commands. Very loving and gives sweet kisses. Would love to cuddle up to you and take a nap. Izzy is very well behaved but has a lot of energy she went to the Colwell Reuse Program to try to get adopted and for training but got brought back to the shelter she still knows how to sit and knows the word no but would benefit from more training she pulls hard on leash. She doesn't like any other animals so the best home for her would be no other animals and no kids or older kids and a fenced in yard.
