Story
Shrek is a 3 yr old Frenchie around 30#'s, He is a happy, bouncy potato boy! He is an outgoing and quirky little dude, looking for a family to wrestle with and give lots of parkour snuggles! And after the epic bulldog snuggle session, Shrek is ready to take a long relaxing nap. Shrek doesn’t care much for dog toys, he’d much rather play - and snuggle - with you; humans are his favorite! :).
Shrek is recently neutered and picking up potty training very quickly. He is wearing a diaper during this transition, and tolerates it pretty well. He knows to potty outside, and once outside, he takes his time to make sure he finds just the right spot. He doesn’t love cold weather though, so sometimes he needs some patience and extra trips outside to avoid an accident. Shrek tucks himself in at night, and will sleep through the night. He will let you know if he needs to go out for potty. He has been really good about holding it, until his morning potty walk.
Shrek is currently getting eye ointment for a corneal ulcer, but it is healing well, with a great long term prognosis, and he doesn’t fuss too much.
Shrek is crate trained, but does not love it. With some enrichment, he will keep busy, but he doesnt love to be away from you. Currently, in his foster home, he has the entire kitchen to himself behind a baby gate and he does great, even when you are home and not immediately with him. He definitely would rather be with you though! In the car, Shrek feels more at ease if he can be with you. He currently does best in a soft crate in the front seat of his foster mom's truck, although a harness and booster seat in a car could work too!
Shrek loves his walks, and enjoys watching other people and dogs on their walks, too. He is learning the leash, and will need his new family to continue to work with him, and to show him how not to pull so much.
Shrek gets along with other dogs, but can be high energy and a little pushy, so will do best with a tolerant dog, and one that closer to his size. If possible, he could be the best velcro only dog too! If he has canine siblings, it is important that his family help him with boundaries to stay on track with good social behavior. Sometimes Shrek can get a bit overstimulated, and while he will respond to correction by his humans and other dogs, he needs patience as it sometimes takes him a bit of time to settle down and relax. Shrek is currently being fostered with cats, and while he can get playful, he does not harrass them, and is mindful to give them space when corrected.
This guy is a very special boy, and would love a family of human toys to shadow and be his most best velcro self. :) Come meet this goofy gremlin and you'll be so happy you did.
