Story
Bailey is an adorable 7-1/2 year old female English Bulldog who was surrendered by her owner on December 27, 2023 because she did not get along the other dogs in family's home. This little sweetheart has a snow white coat, a broad chest, a tiny docked tail, and a beautiful Bulldog face with dark brown eyes, teeny white eyelashes, short ears, a black button nose, and a classic short, broad, 'upward-turned' muzzle. Bailey is listed as a 'Special Needs Dog' since she is hearing impaired/deaf. Bailey has a sweet, easygoing personality with her people friends and was a pleasure to photograph when HSOV Humane Officer Fredley Tynan accompanied her for outdoor glamour pictures late in the afternoon on August 2nd. Bailey may look familiar to many of our volunteers (and Facebook fans) since she had been brought to the HSOV on August 2, 2023 and was adopted on August 29, 2023. So Bailey spent four months in her adoptive home. Bailey weighs 48 lbs and walks fairly well on a leash. She has already been spayed. Her adopted family reported that Bailey does not do well with young children but is fine with older children. Bailey is not good with other dogs or cats. She is protective of her food bowl and does NOT tolerate having her nails trimmed. Bailey has been kept indoors and is housetrained. She is crate-trained and was kept indoors in a crate during the night. Bailey spent time in her fenced-in yard for exercise (and she enjoys being a lap dog). Bailey does well being bathed, and she loves to ride in a car. Bailey is currently in foster care. She is available for meet-and-greet and/or adoption with an approved HSOV adoption application.

Story
Pauly is a cute 7 year old male Pug/Beagle mix (Puggle) who was surrendered by his owner on April 29, 2024. This little sweetheart has a tan short smooth coat with a small patch of cream/white on his chest, a long tail, and an adorable face with dark brown expressive eyes, a squishy muzzle, and large floppy ears which frame his face. Pauly may look familiar to many of our HSOV Volunteers and our faithful Facebook followers since he was originally brought to our shelter on October 19, 2023 when he was found near the Beverly (Ohio) Center Elementary School and surprisingly was not reclaimed. The Good Samaritan who brought Pauly to the shelter that day had tried in vain to locate his family by posting his pictures on Facebook and told us that she'd discovered Pauly knew several commands while he was with her. Pauly weighed 25 lbs at that time and was noted to have a sweet, outgoing personality. Pauly was neutered on November 14, 2023 and was also given rabies vaccine .. And he was adopted a few days later by his foster family on November 16th. Unfortunately Pauly was returned to HSOV on April 29, 2024 because he was a little too interested in 'feathered friends' .. So Pauly is looking for a new home that he wouldn't have to share with ducks, chickens or other feathered fowl. We've also been told that Pauly does not do well with cats. These photos were taken on May 3, 2024 when HSOV Volunteer Tracy Moore spent time with Pauly with updated outdoor photos. Pauly appears to be housetrained since he 'took care of business' before posing for the camera. Pauly loved hearing what a 'good boy' he was when Tracy told him many times while they were together. Pauly currently weighs 37 lbs and walks fairly well on a leash. Pauly has a growth beneath his left eye which is visible in several of his new photos, so he was examined by one of our wonderful local veterinarians on May 31st. Pauly had a biopsy of the growth with benign test results. Note: His owner reported that Pauly tends to be a 'door dasher' .. and indicated that Pauly was good with children and other dogs, and that he was ok with cats. We always recommend a meet-and-greet with children and other dogs in the potential new household (and to take precautionary measures with cats that share your home). UPDATE: Pauly spent a few months in a medical foster home and has been cleared medically, so he is available for adoption as of August 3, 2024. His foster family reported that Pauly cannot be trusted with cats, so he should not be placed in a home that he would share with them. Pauly is ok with older children but is a bit too strong to be trusted with toddlers/very young children since he would unintentionally knock them down. His foster mother has also provided this information about Pauly: "He is a super sweet boy. Loves his treats, afraid of the mop, but he just runs away. He's a couch dog. He will lay there all day. Good on a leash, fully house trained, crate trained. Non destructive. No food aggression. A perfect baby."
