I still have a way to go but I wanted to share a bit about me. I was left abandoned at the shelter from a very questionable background. Unable to hold in any food my timeline was cut short at the shelter. Thank goodness Church of Pug said yes to giving me a chance. My foster mom took me to this dog doctor who did not think I had much time left. No one could explain what was happening with me. Luckily my foster mom and the dogtor did not give up on trying to find out what was causing me to be so sick. All I knew ... I was SO HUNGRY, but no matter how much I ate I could not gain weight, and my body was breaking down. Luckily, a special test gave everyone the answer ... I have something called Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI) which I guess means my pancreas does not work so well UNLESS I have these awesome enzymes that help me absorb nutrients AND I am FINALLY feeling full and getting healthy and strong. Even with all of these things I can proudly say I am completely potty trained. No accidents for me. I like my space ... and I gravitate to the cat vs. the other dogs in the house. I sleep through the night and when I want to be pet or cuddle, I put up my paw and gently grab your hand or arm. I am still unsure about people ... I don't like to be picked up ... so when I want on the couch I growl when I go from floor to next to you ... but then I stop. If I am not sure what you are doing or your intentions, I will growl. It's my way to say I'm uncomfortable but I would never hurt anyone, I swear. I am really trying to behave like a dog who is loved, vs a dog who was hurt. I believe I can learn to trust again I just hope my forever home has the patience to help me get to that happy place. For my comfort a home with kids and wild hyper pups would not suit me. I prefer the calmer of the pack and the kitty cat. I know I will find my forever family when I am healthy enough. Until then big woofs from me, Marty.

Hi, I'm Ms Piggles. I'm single and looking to find my forever home with no other dogs.. I might be 8 years old but I'm no senior. I'm not a push puppy. I'm mature, house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. So there. I am lady with Frenchitude so I'm definitely be the alpha and need to be an only dog girl. I don't need a lot of hoopla, whats is mine is mine. MY food, MY toy, MY person are things I can try to protect, so no small kids as well. Its ok if we have company, I don't mind eating in the other room or even my crate. If you want to take short walks, I'm good with that, not really my thing. I am not a girl that wants to be fussed over unnecessarily so I won't be wearing any sweaters if I'm not in the mood. Rumors I hear the Hoomans say is that 'I'm an awesome lap dog and loves to snuggle'. Waiting for you ;) That being said, I just need a strong owner that's going to tell me how I'm going to behave.

I ended up in Rescue when my mom came down with dementia and had to be moved into memory care and I was unable to come with her. other family was not able to take me and they had tried many rescues that had all just said to put me down because I was too old before Church Of Pug welcomed me in. If there are treats, he will stay close, but without them, he still finds touch a bit strange. * With Dogs: Is not interested in other dogs and enjoys his alone time. 🐶 * With Cats: He gets overly excited when seeing cats, so it’s best to avoid encounters. * Separation Anxiety: Not confirmed as he resides with other dogs at the center. * Potty Training: Currently does only outdoor potty breaks at the center. * Hygiene: Is calm during baths. Though nervous and stiff during drying, he handles it well. Shows mild dislike during nail trimming but is never aggressive. Tolerates short brushing sessions. * Walks: Enjoys walking without any leash-pulling, keeping pace comfortably! 🐕 * Car sickness: He rests comfortably in the car without any signs of motion sickness. 💟Special Notes💟 * Feels more comfortable with a collar than a harness. * Is very independent.
