Story
Meet Daphne, a very goofy girl with a lot of love to give! Daphne and her sister Dahlia came into the BCSPCA's care after they were found wandering around a rural property in Northern BC. This happy puppy loves to explore the world with her nose on walks, and while she is still working on keeping all 4 paws on the floor when she meets new friends, she loves to learn and is eager to please her people. She gets along great with other dogs, and would likely be fine in a house with dog-savvy children. She would love a safe outdoor space where she can grow and play, too! After she gets her wiggles out on a walk, Daphne will snuggle up to you for some belly rubs and a nice long nap! Ready to welcome this big, beautiful girl into your home? Come meet her today! Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet me. Story
Rosie came to us all the way from Quesnel BCSPCA. She is an energetic, playful girl with the spirit of a lap dog (despite her large size!). Rosie came from a home with cats, children, and another dog, so she is comfortable with a big and busy household! While she is still working on her manners, Rosie is eager to learn and loves to fill her day with training sessions. Her leash manners are coming along swimmingly too! Rosie is a pretty talented escape artist, and has a history of climbing fences up to 6 feet tall. We strongly recommend that her potential adopters keep her on a long leash when she is playing outside to prevent any unwanted games of chase! After shes had enough time to burn off some energy, Rosie loves to curl up on the sofa and fall asleep with her head in your lap.Rosie would be a great addition to any active family that can train her to be an adventure/hiking buddy. Rosie is game to join in on any activities with her people, and her sweet disposition is sure to bring boundless joy to her forever family! Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet me. Story
*Currently fostered in Houston Texas, available for out of state adoptions via rescue transportation. Video meet and greet available prior to commitment* This dog is a collaborative effort between Moka's Mission and Houston Chow Chow Connection. Mocha is a fluffy mixed pup just eager to find her new lease in life. She was rescued from a kill shelter in Texas just moments before being euthanized. She is believed to be around 4 years old, and based on behaviors definitely has GSD, Chow Chow, and even possibly husky mixed in her as well. Current weight around 65, 70 lbs. Mocha is a smiling, eager to please, extremely intelligent pup who clearly has been desperate for reaching a potential that was never offered to her prior. She loves to play with toys now, ( was unfamiliar with on arrival) and can be quirky, and vocal during her playful bouts. A game of tug which result in some head pats is her favorite. She also is very smart, and when given attention and motivation is quick to learn. She already knows several basic commands including sit, shake, kennel, wait, settle, and leave it. She is extremely versatile and once she trusts you, will give you her best. If you want to go hiking or exercise, she is all about it. If you want a pup to relax in the home and enjoy a movie day, she is ready! She loves to curl up on the couch or at your feet when it's time to settle down, but when it's time to go she is the first one to be there and ready for you. She also loves to keep you company while you do the most menial house chore's such as laundry or dishes. Mocha clearly was kept away from other dogs and animals when she was owned previously, so we do think she'd be best as an only pup. Proper continued socialization training would be required in order for her to eventually be able to share space with other dogs, but she would need to be socialized as an only dog first before considering adding another in. She clearly has a desire to want to know other dogs and can walk by them and flirt while on leash just fine during walks. However, she hasn't had enough time and proper playmates to engage in playtime at present without being rough. Unfortunately, she is not ok with cats, which is to be expected of the breeds she possesses. Mocha is fully vetted meaning she is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and on monthly prevention for flea, tick, and heartworm. Her adoption fee and transport is dependent on services used. For more information on Mocha, please contact us at MokasMission@Gmail.com, or to apply for adoption please fill out an application here: https://form.jotform.com/41173109602142

Story
Sam is a sweet young fellow looking for the ideal home that can keep up with his energy level! He would benefit from calming exercises to assist with his hyper-activity. Once calm, he is a good boy, It's just that he finds it hard to contain his excitableness when it's time to do something he enjoys, like walkies. Although Sam can be strong on leash, he walks well and enjoys getting out and about. Sam would also like to have a safe and secure backyard to spend time in.To help him be his best self, Sam needs regular mental and physical exercise to burn off energy before any positive reinforcement training can take place. When he's calm, he's a well-behaved boy who is more accepting of being handled, though he does have some sensitivities that his new family should be mindful of.Sam would do best in a home with older children (due to his energetic nature) and no other pets, as he craves all the attention and learning to be focused on him. And true to his breed, Sam loves to sing and is always up for playful antics! If you're an active family ready to give Sam the attention, training, and exercise he needs, he'll make a wonderful and fun companion.Do you think you could be Sam's person? Here are some ways to find out. To help us find the best match, please share more about your lifestyle and what you're looking for in a dog. Cooper is approx 2 years old, male and a mixed breed rescued as a puppy in Mexico. Cooper is well settled into life in Vancouver. He loves dog parks, doggy daycare and being on off leash adventures. A yard would be great for him as he can run for hours. An active owner will be best for Cooper, someone who will take him for outdoor trails and adventures. While cooper is social and friendly with everyone he meets, he is especially fond of women, perhaps because he was rescued and cared for by one. To apply to adopt Cooper please complete the adoption application on our website www.aboutadogrescuesociety.ca You can also find more video and photos of cooper there. Note: We are based in Vancouver and can only facilitate adoptions in our area or surrounding municipalities as part of our requirements is a home visit.

Story
Hiya friends! My name is Raven and I am a LOCAL GAL(in Armstrong, BC)! Here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: German Shepherd (unknown litter/origin information) Age: approx. 2.5 years Gender: Female Weight: ~45 lbs **however I should be ~55 lbs - see health info below!** Current Location: Armstrong (currently being fostered by my friends at The Canine Hub) RESCUE STORY – My rescuer, Flo, found me running around on the highway in Armstrong. Flo pulled over and was fully equipped with leash and treats, thinking she'd have to try to coax me towards her and catch me... but much to her suprise, I ran right up to her! I was immediately friendly and trusting, so relieved to have found a caring human. I was wearing a collar but had no tags on. I was SUPERRR skinny and clearly malnourished. Flo asked around all the nearby homes but nobody claimed me as their own, so she took me home with her :) Over the next few days, my pals at The Canine Hub searched for my owners; posting in lost dog groups on social media. My previous owners were located a few days later, however they were unable to care for me, so The Canine Hub offered to take me in as a foster dog and to help find me a more suitable home. They have taken SUCH good care of me and have dedicated endless time and resources into finding the causes of my malnourishment (see HEALTH NOTES below). I am on my way to a healthy weight now and am ready to find my love-filled forever home!  TEMPERAMENT - I am a SUPER sweet, loving, loyal girl. I am extremely affectionate and love people! (video) We have yet to find a human I did not love, to be honest! I am gentle and affectionate around children and tend to be protective over the child's space (particularly if other dogs come near). I love my people of all ages and sizes! I enjoy the company of male dogs and can be quite neutral around them, however I should not go to a home with another female dog as I have shown some same-sex aggression (very common amongst female German Shepherds). When on pack walks with my fosters, I wear a muzzle around female dogs just as a safety precaution. If I were on a structured leash walk, I could be muzzle-free (although on-leash greetings with any dog should always be avoided as a general rule of thumb). I have struggled with resource guarding since I was rescued, but that has slowly been getting better as my health has improved. I can still be a bit snappy around food, purely due to my enthusiasm to be fed. I LOVE hiking and off leash exploring followed by some snuggles on the couch with my favourite human. I am the perfect combination of adventure buddy and cuddle partner! I am cuddly and calm when exercised appropriately and would love to do everything with you all day long for all the days to come! Seriously, I'm SUCH a people-pleasing dog! I have received tip top care at The Canine Hub where I get daily hiking adventures with other doggos, plenty of controlled socialization, and an opportunity to work on my general obedience skills. I am a very human-social girl though, so I really crave a home where I can have couch snuggles and a human's attention all to myself. MY IDEAL HOME: Single-dog household or a home with a neutral, male dog.  Adopters with German Shepherd breed experience. Daily hikes followed by couch snuggles with my human. Adopters who are financially stable and willing to continue my raw food diet and enzyme supplements (see HEALTH NOTES below). ENERGY LEVEL - Moderate - I require adequate daily exercise (hiking and responsible off-leash exploring are my fave!), but after that I am super happy to cuddle and snooze on your couch!  GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Yes! [Video] I have been around children and done very well, although I do show some protective tendencies around them - what can I say, I'm loyal to the core. I am VERY gentle and affectionate around children. When around a child, I do not enjoy other dogs especially entering the child's space.  As with ALL dogs, I should be supervised around children and my personal space should always be advocated for! Dogs – Male dogs, yes! I should be muzzled if off-leash around female dogs, as I have shown some same-sex aggression towards female dogs while staying in my foster home. With a confident handler, I can be quite neutral around other dogs. Cats – Dog-Savvy Cats, yes! [Video coming soon] I am happy to coexist with cats; there are 3 dog-savvy cats in my foster home who I see daily with no problems. PREY DRIVE - Low. Despite being a Shepherd, I have shown low prey drive for my breed; I do not chase cats or other smaller animals and show little interest in a lure toy. TRAINING:  I am house trained and crate trained! I have good recall and have been trained on a Mini Educator e-collar with The Canine Hub; making me extra reliable off leash. (video) My on-leash skills could still use some honing, although not too shabby. I know basic commands ("sit", "down") and am marker trained ("Yes", "No", "Break").  Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before taking their dog home.  HEALTH NOTES: When I was rescued, I was extremely malnourished, with all ribs, spine and hip bones showing clearly. My rescuers assumed it was because I hadn't had a meal in a long time, however once they started feeding me high calorie meals, I still wasn't putting on weight. I also had regular diarrhea and didn't seem to be absorbing any nutrients from my food. After extensive tests at the vet, I was diagnosed with Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI); meaning that my body naturally lacks the digestive enzymes required for me to process food. As a result, these enzymes have to be manually added into each of my meals. This is a lifelong condition. As long as I receive my enzymes with each meal, I will be able to live a normal, long life with minimal symptoms from this condition. I currently take 1 tsp of Pancreatin from Enzyme Diane with each meal. The enzymes cost approx. $100/month. I am fed twice daily and am on a fully raw diet (approx. 2 lbs/day). Eating raw allows me to get the most nutrition out of my food and it is STRONGLY recommended that I remain on a raw-only diet for life. I am on rotating proteins of salmon/pork/duck/lamb/turkey. I do not have any known allergies but due to the EPI, it is recommended I not have a lot of additional treats outside of my meals as I cannot digest appropriately without the digestive enzymes. If there is a treat-heavy day, just mix in some enzymes so I can get the best of your tasty offerings! I am spayed and up to date on all vaccinations. I will continue to receive regular health checks from a vet while in the care of The Canine Hub.  ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $616.00 CAD ($550 + 5% GST and 7% PST). Any travel costs associated with meeting me in Armstrong are to be paid for by the applicant/adopter. --------------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. Tolerates dry blowing nicely. * Walks: Occasionally pulls on the leash when she would like to go to a certain spot. Follows well in general the guardian if he or she walks ahead. Walks well in unfamiliar place. * Car Sickness: Has a car sick and feels sick a lot on long distances, so she needs care before traveling. 💟Special Notes💟 * Has mastered several commands such as "sit," "lie down," "V," "wait," and "turn around". * ls frightened by the loud noises out of the blue like fireworks or the sounds of the shutter closing. ❗❗Health Status * Spayed. * Others: Microchipped, and heartworm negative upon retest.

Story
✅Currently located in South Korea✅️ 💟Available to fly to Vancouver & Toronto💟 Meet Kuku🧡 Kuku is one of Danpoong’s five puppies. On a bitter winter day, Danpoong was brought to Koren city shelter, where she gave birth to five puppies and suffered from monge. After Adogs rescued them, the other puppies found their forever homes but Kuku and his mom Danpoong are still waiting for their family. * With People : Loves people so he greets familiar ones with kisses. Gets scared or barks at strangers who approach swiftly and refuses treats. Hides to the room after barking with fear at new people who visit home. Warms up shortly if they take time and approach him slowly. * With Dogs: Is calm, slightly interested, and wants to greet dogs that are indifferent to him. Caution is needed because he sometimes gets excited when greeting new dogs. * With Cats: Sniffs calmly at cats who stay still but tries to chase running cats. He tries to fight back against aggressive cats so caution is needed. * Separation Anxiety: None at all! Plays or sleeps alone very well even without humans around. * Potty Training: Prefers outdoor potty but uses indoor pads with 100% accuracy. * Hygiene: Dislikes baths but gets through it well. Is afraid of having nails trimmed and tries to nip. His nail length is being controlled with regular walks. Is very good with having his teeth and fur brushed! * Walks: Goes for walks on a double leash. May pull on the leash when dogs, birds, cats or other animals pass by swiftly. May get nervous and bark when a person suddenly comes running in his direction and is going through training. * Car Sickness: May have car sickness when he rides the car for over 30 minutes. It would be better not to feed him before car rides. * Has mastered commands such as "sit," "right paw," “left paw,” "lie down," "nose," "V," and is a quick learner. * Is learning recall so he comes back nicely if you call his name, except in cases where he is surprised. * Has a good appetite, so he may growl when you try to touch his snack. * May get nervous and try to bite defensively when a stranger comes to touch him suddenly. * When forced to be hugged or someone tries to touch him recklessly, he show discomfort by baring his teeth. * Is scared and sometimes barks when he hears sudden or unfamiliar noises, but stops very quckly. * Gets scared easily, but is also a very curious dog. Shows a lot of affection when you become close to him!

Story
Chuchu is a 4-year-old male dog, weighing about 22kg, and he is a Malinois mix. He was found wandering the streets with his two siblings and was rescued just before being euthanized. After being rescued, Chuchu spent nearly a year in a foster home, where he adapted well and grew into a friendly and sociable dog. Chuchu is very friendly and gets along with all dogs, regardless of size. He loves playing with both big and small dogs and, after expending his energy outdoors, enjoys resting calmly indoors. Despite his large size, he is gentle with smaller dogs and respectfully interacts with them. Chuchu inherited the intelligence of the Malinois breed and is a highly intelligent dog. He understands basic commands and learns new things quickly. With consistent training, he has great potential to become an even more well-behaved companion. Chuchu is a very affectionate dog who loves people deeply. He is not wary of strangers and will approach new people confidently to show affection. He values his bond with his owner and always wants to be by their side. Chuchu is housetrained and prefers to go outside for bathroom breaks. However, during the process of adjusting to new environments or time zone changes, his outdoor bathroom habits may temporarily change. With a consistent routine, he will quickly readjust. When it comes to walks, Chuchu can be strong on the leash at first and may pull. However, with proper guidance, he will learn to walk calmly alongside his owner. With continued training, he will become even more comfortable on walks. Chuchu is a loyal and reliable companion, but he is also affectionate and enjoys being around people. With his intelligence, sociable nature, and deep love for his owner, he is waiting for a family to call his own. Chuchu is looking for a warm and loving home where he can receive the care and attention he deserves. If you’re ready to give this sweet and devoted dog a lifetime of love, Chuchu will be the perfect companion for you!
