Story
I am looking for a quiet home where I can relax in a sunbeam and be your faithful companion. I REALLY love chasing balls. Do you want to play with me? I enjoy going to the beach and playing in the water! Though I don't mind being around other dogs, I would prefer to be the only dog in the household so I don't have to share my tennis balls! I'll benefit from going on walks with my new family so I can get some good exercise and trim my waistline.I graduated from The SPCA's highly regarded Ruff Start Program which pairs shelter dogs in need of extra care or attention with inmates at Salinas Valley State Prison for training and love.Special Needs: I have a thyroid condition that is currently being managed with medication. Ask the Customer Care team for more information. I am eligible for a Doggy Day Out, apply here https://forms.gle/TgRYMcxyKbxwQm5M7 to take me on an outing! Primary Color: Brown Brindle Secondary Color: White Weight: 100.4 Age: 6yrs 10mths 1wks

Story
Hi my name is Heidi, I came to the SPCA with a fracture to my left hip. The kind folks at the SPCA performed surgery on my left hip (femoral head and neck excision) to create a false hip joint to improve my mobility and eliminate pain. I have had daily physical therapy since my surgery and have recovered well and I am ready to find my forever home. You will notice that do not have a totally normal gait. With time and exercise my gait should improve but I may never walk or run totally normally. I should be allowed to exercise and play like any other puppy. The SPCA recommends reviewing the article on "Femoral Head and Neck Ostectomy" found at the veterinarypartner.com site for additional information of my surgical procedures, and to share my medical history with your regular veterinarian. Our shelter veterinarians are also available to discuss any questions about caring for me in my new home. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 30 Age: 0yrs 4mths 0wks

Story
Maggie is a sweet 2.5 y/o GSD. Maggie has been with our family for most of her life, as we got her when she was approx 6 months. We moved from out of state to our current home now in California, and unfortunately, we dont have the space, time, or energy to get her the exercise she needs due to busy work/life/school schedules. Shes such a sweet girl, but she can be timid, so until she warms up to her family, she needs a slow and easy approach. She absolutely does not bite, or show signs of aggression, but sometimes she might get nervous and have a small accident on the floor :(, thats okay though, we know that it was an accident, so all is well after we give her a snack to show her shes not in trouble. We have another elderly dog, whom Maggie gets along with and loves to run and play with, but my other girl is getting old and tired. We want to rehome Maggie to a loving family, and we want to make sure she is a good fit. We love this crazy lady, and want the best for her.

Story
Looks like: German Shepherd Female, 9 years old (estimated), 79 pounds Here's a profile in courage: sweet and affectionate Rosa. She came to us after having walked many a rough road with weak hind legs, a painful mouth, and abdominal masses. Two operations later, she's feeling much better and healing beautifully. But has any of the strife she's faced dampened her spirit? Not all all! She's a snuggle bug through and through. Rosa loves to cuddle up and be close to her people; if you stop petting she might remind you to resume by giving you a gentle tap with her paw. Having been malnourished, she appreciates every meal and sometimes forgets that she doesn't need to counter surf anymore. Good on a leash, great in a car, house-broken, and non-reactive around other dogs, Rosa has good manners, but might benefit from a bit more training. Rosa has done well around calm children, but we think she'd do best in a household with no other pets and lots of human hands who'd be happy to reciprocate her love. She prefers to be with her people most of the time. This senior girl came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after being found as a stray.

Story
In the Spring of 2022, Heidi found herself on the intake list at the Stanislaus County Shelter picked up as a stray. Little did she know this was the beginning of an amazing journey to a second chance in life. Heidi was scared, hungry, and confused, but her sweet demeanor shone through and she passed her behavioral evaluation with flying colors. Poor, sweet Heidi was extremely underweight, suffering from GI issues, and had kennel cough. A few months later GSRNC answered her rescue plea and within 2 months of being fostered, this lucky girl had a new home. Her adopters fell for Heidi because she was super affectionate, playful, and non-destructive. They learned she was a little cautious with strangers at first but that didn’t last very long! Her extreme intelligence coupled with a love for treats made training lots of fun for the whole family. All the boxes were checked! As they got to know Heidi, the new adopters discovered that she had a high prey drive and could be dog-reactive. Anything small and furry was fair game (excuse the pun). This was a deal-breaker for her new mom and dad who decided to return her to GSRNC. No problem – resilient and charming Heidi was quickly scooped up by another incredible foster! Now 6 years old and 75 lbs., Heidi has settled in nicely with her new foster family. They love that this beautiful girl wants nothing more than to share love and affection with them. They are thrilled she has exceptional manners and lives to please. Heidi has learned to trust and now greets people of all ages with a gentle, yet enthusiastic reception. When asked what is so appealing about Heidi, her fosters say “she is just so snuggly!” Proud Heidi wants you to see all the boxes she checks now! I love: * Taking walks (she says this is a must) * Going on car rides especially if it includes new adventures * Showing off my good manners * Chasing squirrels and cats, it is just too much fun! I am: * House-broken * Crate-trained * Not a puller and walk nicely on a leash * Still a little reactive to dogs but am easily redirected * Possibly amenable to a sibling but honestly, I would love being an only dog! Heidi is a level 3 dog living in the South Bay who wants nothing more than to become the newest member of your active family. August 5, 2024, 5:26 pm
