Story
Ares(7) and his sister Athena(6) lost their human dad to cancer in November. I took them in temporarily since my younger daughter had just lost her dad and she adores the dogs. She is going to college and my other daughter is allergic. I have a full time job so I cannot devote the time, energy, and space that they need to thrive. I really would love to get them to a loving home. Interactions with smaller dogs has been mixed. They have been around adults and teenagers only. Ares is very protective and loves to play catch.

Story
Owner passed away from cancer and did not make provisions for his dogs. I took them in temporarily to try to find them a good home. Unfortunately, I do not have the time and space to properly care for the breed. Athena is a sweet girl, loves chasing birds and playing outside as much as possible. Expert cuddler.

Story
We adopted Shelly at the Lyndon Humane Society and she is currently 4 years old. She is very affectionate and loving. She could get pets from her humans all day if she could. With that being said, she does struggle with a bit of separation anxiety. She has a lot of energy and is very smart. She does very well with children! She hasn’t gotten the best of socializing with other dogs and would take some training and time. She only knows her basic commands but with more time and training I don’t have a doubt she’ll pick up quickly. We are looking for a family that she can thrive in, more so than the what we have been able to give her. I picture somewhere with a backyard, kids, and a few dog friends with someone who is willing to put in the extra training she needs.

Merlin is a very energetic, sweet and intelligent dog. He is great with people, kids, pets and other dogs. He loves to play fetch and go on long runs or hikes. He is kennel trained and house trained. He definitely needs lots more training and attention than what our family can give. We are possibly moving in with family soon and cannot take him with us. Vaccinations are up to date and he’s a very healthy puppy (11 months).

Story
Zoey is a beautiful young sable German Shepherd female estimated around 5-6 years of age. Zoey was a stray and we unfortunately do not know her history but Zoey is happily looking forward to having a family of her own.    Zoey is a playful and rambunctious girl. Her favorite activities include playing in muddy ponds, getting all the love, and inappropriately barking at unknown dogs and people. Zoey is learning how to navigate the world and make new human friends. While Zoey can be a very friendly and social girl she is at a critical point in her life known as the 'fear period' and can struggle with reactivity when meeting new people. It is extremely important that Zoey have a confident, experienced, handler that can compassionately guide her through the safe socialization she needs in order to learn how to navigate the world kindly. Zoey is very much a puppy and while eager to please she is still figuring out what is expected of her and how to rise to those expectations. Zoey has been great meeting volunteers with the guidance of her foster home and with those she knows is a very loving, playful girl. She has enjoyed going on hikes around private property and exploring ponds and mud puddles. Zoey is an active and athletic girl who is going to require ongoing exercise and structure to ensure her growth into a well rounded adult Shepherd. Zoey would be a great running companion, hiking buddy, and would likely excel in a number of dog sports. Zoey is NOT suitable for a home with children at this time.    Zoey is still figuring out other dogs and how to interact in a polite manner. Zoey can be very vocal when she meets new dogs and was defensive with other dogs when she arrived at her foster home. She has since settled in and is able to enjoy playgroups with other young Shepherds as well as group hikes. Zoey is slowly figuring out that she can play appropriately and doing a great job. Zoey will require ongoing structured socialization and guidance to maintain her progress as she is at an age of development where her socialization both in and out of the house is vital. Zoey is NOT friendly with cats or small dogs as she has shown a very high prey drive with both.    Zoey is a young, eager to please, and outgoing Shepherd who is searching for an active, loving, and adventurous home to give her the guidance and love she needs to grow into an even more wonderful companion. If you're the home for Zoey please email Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application or visit tierhaven.rescuegroups.org for FAQsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 8:53 pm
