Story
Hey, my name is Micky and I am looking for my forever home! I am a sweet boy with a TON of energy, and I am hoping to find an adopter who not only shares my energy level, but who will help train me to keep me on my best behavior. I can be rough when I play, so I will need a home without young children. Once I am fully comfortable with you, you will have a friend for life! I am loving and smart and would make the perfect dog for an experienced dog parent. I really really hate the vet so I will need someone who can help me find a vet I feel comfortable with. I may sound like extra work, I can promise you that the love I will give will be totally worth it! Micky has heartworm which means that this dog has parasitic worms in the right ventricle of the heart and nearby blood vessels. Heartworm is transmitted from one dog to another by mosquitoes and can be easily prevented using monthly heartworm preventative, but once the disease is contracted the treatment process can be quite intensive. Micky will need to remain sedentary with minimal activity during the treatment process to ensure a healthy recovery. There is additional information on heartworm disease and treatment available at our Adoption Desk. The heartworm injections for treatment are covered by HSHV, but there may be additional costs associated with clinical care.

Story
Hello! My name is Louie, an adorable teen-puppy looking for a forever home! I am a bit older than other puppies but that doesn`t stop me from acting like I`m a funny little pup! I will depend on you for guidance and training, especially to help with my shy nature. I like to play with dogs, but I can be a little much for dogs that don`t like to wrestle. So I`m looking for another playmate who`s ready for some fun! This playfulness and a higher prey drive mean I would be best in a home without cats, so no feline friends for me. If you are willing to devote the time needed for a guy like me, you will gain an amazing companion!

Hi my name is Libby! I am a good boy/girl and I am looking for an active owner willing to offer training and exercise, but in return I can offer unconditional love and years of happiness. I do have some big feelings about some things in this world and tend to express this by reacting with barking and may be a bit too much for some families. I will need to continue my training and HSHV offers classes for dogs like me! Visit www.hshv.org for more information.

Story
This is a courtesy post for HSHV. This is a great dog for the right person! Hi, everyone, my name is Clover. I tend to become overwhelmed easily, and the shelter environment is, well, rather overwhelming. So I'm looking to be rescued ASAP by a patient and understanding human; someone who's prepared (with a pocketful of snacks, ideally) to help me keep my cool when I'm venturing outside my comfort zone. I'm a fun-loving dog who loves to play chase, so a home with cats wouldn't be a good fit for my exuberant personality. If you've got the skills to read both my subtle and not so subtle body language, I'd love for you to be my guiding light. Being a 1-year-old German shepherd, it goes without saying that I have an overabundance of energy as well as a brilliant mind. If you're a human with an active lifestyle, I want in on it. I'm talking hikes, fetch, puzzles. I'd even be open to some agility training once I get to know you a little better. Please teach me to channel my energy away from fear and towards fun! Since I'm a sensitive girl, I'd do best in a single family home without dogs and adults only. Remember, adoption is not just about finding a pet; it's about changing a life. Are you craving a new chapter? Me too! Take a chance on this pup, and you'll be rewarded with a transformation beyond your wildest dreams.

Story
We adopted Cooper from an animal rescue when he was a puppy. He came all the over from Texas! He is such a sweet boy he loves to run around the backyard and sunbathe. He is easily excitable but also loves to relax and snuggle with you. We unfortunately have to rehome him due to his aggression towards our young daughter. He has bitten her once before and he snarls at her if she gets too close to him. We have had pet sitters watch him when we are gone and he does well with older children or teenagers. He needs to be in a home where there is no small children. He gets along with our other dog but he does not like groups of dogs such as a doggie daycare. He has food aggression towards other dogs. He has not shown aggression towards cats but he gets fixated on them and chases them. He would likely do better in a house without other animals. He also has hypothyroidism so he will need to be on thyroid medication for the rest of his life.

Story
Hello, my name is Behr. I’m turning 5 this year on November 10th, but I still have so much puppy and energy left! My mom did make sure I can’t have any babies, so that’s a relief! Some hobbies of mine, I absolutely love to play ball and fetch, I’ll even bring the ball back, it just might be a little slobbery!! I love to go on car rides, especially when I get to stick my head out the window, but don’t worry I won’t jump out! I love to go on walks and smell everything in sight! I’d love to have a yard to play in and roam around. I do have a very sensitive tummy so I can only eat certain types of food, by my mom can tell you about that. I do have a sister and brother in cat form and I do very good with them, I’m very gentle and could care less if they’re around. My sister tried to play with me but I don’t quite understand when she wants to. I’m looking for a new home and some things have changed at home making it very hard on my mom and me. I also don’t do well in the apartment.
