Story
Zeus is a handsome German Shepherd with an impressive presence and a heart full of love. At 2.5 years old and around 90 lbs, he’s a big guy with an even bigger personality. Zeus is housebroken, crate trained, and gets along well with other dogs, making him a great choice for a home with canine companions—though he’s not suited for a household with cats or small animals, as he’s curious about them and doesn’t understand his own strength. Curious and energetic, Zeus is always eager to explore and learn new things. He’s wonderful with kids of all ages, from toddlers to adults, and his friendly, outgoing nature will endear him to everyone in your family. He’s still working on his leash skills, but his enthusiasm and willingness to learn make him a joy to train. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will be a steadfast friend and a loving member of your family, Zeus is the perfect match. Story
Everyone, meet Ronin. Ronin is an exceptionally handsome German Shepherd on a road to recovery after coming to the shelter in a very unfortunate state. Weighing in at only 50 pounds when he arrived, he is now an awesome 56 pounds and gradually getting more and more nutrients. Ronin experienced a horrible skin and hair-loss reaction during his scary journey before coming to MCAC, but as he is amazingly resilient, his beautiful coat continues to get better each day.Ronin loves to play with other dogs but definitely would benefit from more socialization, so if you do have other canines in the home, we will require a dog-to-dog play group to ensure not just Ronin, but your pet enjoys the company, too. We will not allow Ronin to go to a home with any feline friends, so he will either need to be the only pet or do well with another pup.Ronin loves to play fetch with the tennis ball and he recently discovered that he LOVES peanut butter. He gives kisses and likes belly rubs and has really become attached to everyone here that has helped to care for him.It is imperative you understand the breed as well as his need for nursing him back to health and proper exercise. Ronin has also been known to jump 4-foot fences and he is very agile, so a proper tie-out stake with heavy duty silicone lead will be necessary to bring this beautiful boy home.If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $150.

Story
Hi! My name is Gretchen and I`m a 1 year old German Shepherd.I am a very friendly girl and I am looking for my forever home! Can you help me find it?I enjoy being around people and getting lots of attention. I love to be pet and will even roll on my belly for you!I also really enjoy other dogs. I play very well with them and will play for hours on end. Running around and wrestling in the yard is my favorite! Cats on the other hand are not my favorite so it is recommended that I go to a home with no feline friends.Did I mention I love water? Here at MCAC I have a kiddie pool that I love to roll around in and cool off, I`m told it`s very cute.My ideal home would have a large fenced in yard for me to run around in. I have lots of energy and need daily exercise! It is best I go to a home with older children as I am still young and don`t have many manners yet.If you think I`m the right fit for your family, come meet me!If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $250

Story
Zelda is almost 3 years old. She is a good dog but can be territorial toward the house or yard, especially toward unfamiliar people. She is playful and sweet and loves to run and play with her frisbee. She has had some basic training, but could use additional training or a job/activity to keep her occupied as an outlet for her boundless energy. Our family's schedule is just not the best for her level of energy as my husband and I both work and can't always devote the proper amount of time to keep Zelda engaged the way she should. Zelda likes to be the center of attention so she doesn't always like it when attention is given to other animals so somewhere with no other animals is best. She also would be better suited to a family without small children as she doesn't really do well around them, though she tolerates our daughter for the most part. She is up to date on shots, spayed, and chipped.

Story
Willow is an amazing dog. She is smart, beautiful, and has A LOT of energy. I’ve had her for over a year and a half and just recently moved from an apartment to house where I have seen MAJOR improvements but still has a long way to go. We live with my grandparents who are 80 years old and my 2 cats. She does ok with the cats and tends to chase them even still being over a year later. She is very dog/human reactive and needs to be with the right person who can do that for her. I wouldn’t say no dogs around her ever, she does well slowly. She is a working dog and proves it every day. She has special quirks about her that are a lot to handle but also just too cute. She needs to be in a home with NO other animals to start and a Human who can provide what she needs when it comes to her behavior and energy. She is an awesome dog all around, her current home isn’t meeting her requirements and thats why she needs someone who can give her all of what she needs that I am not able to provide her.

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://us14b.sheltermanager.com/onlineform_view?formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will continue to perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.
