Story
Pretty mellow dog, not spayed but up to date on shots as of 3/23/2024. Has been around young kids (2-7yo) and a cat. Loves the outdoors (walks, playing in water, and rope/chewy toys). Two different colored eyes. Born 11/30/2023. A bit of a jumpy girl, but understands not to jump on kiddos. When encountering other animals (such as other dogs or cats) on walks, she mostly will ignore them or look at you for direction. Crate/kennel trained, sleeps in there at night. Does have a bit of separation anxiety (chewer) but thrives with her pack. Definitely could use some training in manners and leash manners, but does know commands such as sit lay down shake leave it and kennel. Very laid back for a husky mix, and really not vocal much. Looking for a home that can give her structure or a job to do, preferably with another large breed dog but not a requirement with an experienced owner. Rehoming due to landlord dog breed policy change.

Name: Shep Age: 1 year Gender: male Breed: Shepherd/Collie mix Weight: 55 lbs Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: yes Child friendly: yes House trained: yes Crate trained: yes Energy level: Moderate Temperament: sweet, snuggly, docile, easygoing, intelligent, alert   Requirement: Not apartment appropriate but could be in a condo or duplex Adoption Fee: $400+tax To adopt, go to:   www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html   From the Foster Family:  Shep or Sheppy as we call him, came to us from a rescue in Tennessee. He was found wandering outside near an airport. His wonderful and patient rescue mama wouldn't give up on him and finally coaxed him to come to her.  We were lucky enough to be able to speak with this great lady who took him in to learn all about him.  His markings and colorings are beautiful. Notice the heart on his face?  It's as big as the heart in his chest.    Shep loves to be around humans and other dogs.  He is quiet, reserved, and just wants to be part of the group.  He wants to be your buddy! He loves the outdoors and is easily getting used to walking on a leash. He enjoyed playing in the snow for the short time he could before it melted.  We are working on basic commands like sit and come.    He's not much for treats or toys, yet. Unless it is a Nylabone with peanut butter. He loves pets and belly rubs the most. He'd sit by you for hours if you just give him love and attention. Shep is one of those "Once in a Lifetime" kind of dogs, he's simply perfect in every single way!   He enjoys walking with his foster sister, Nova, a yellow lab.  He is currently living with 2 other female dogs and is fitting right in. Sometimes they even wrestle! Right now he is trying to figure out what dog bed he likes the best. He has done well going for car rides, sitting handsomely on the seat, and looking out the window.   At his previous foster home in Tennessee, he had a 5- year- old girl whom he adored.    About Me:   Hi! My name is Shep and I just got here from Tennessee.  I had a great foster mama who took wonderful care of me, but thought I'd find my furever home here in Minnesota.  I was the first one she let go from her care to Mending Spirits (so don't let her down). I love the outdoors and like to play.  I'm learning to sit and come when called, but it's new for me, so be patient.  Going for walks is wonderful because there are so many smells and trees for me to investigate and water! I love being by your side, but I know I need my own space too.  I don't mind being in my crate-so if you have to go to work, I'll be ok. But don't think I'm not going to love you up when you come home.   Are you my furever family? I'd love to meet you!   February 27, 2025, 2:32 pm

Story
Scout is a very lovable German shepherd pup. He enjoys being outside, belly rubs, and lots of treats. He requires a lot of attention as he has separation anxiety. He would love someone to be home with him for the majority of the day to give him endless belly rubs. He will need to be fed in his kennel as he has slight food aggression. He would also do best in a home with older kids who don’t drop food on the ground, as he will immediately run over to get it as he is a “vacuum.” He loves being called “Scout pout” and loves when you ask him “would you like a Bewwy Wub” Scout is working on kennel training and will give you those big puppy dog eyes and try to hide on you when you need to put him to bed. He is also working on being friendly with other dogs. Most importantly scout has a big heart. It is easy to become his best friend. If you are looking for a lovable forever friend please get to know Scout. This pet is microchipped, spayed/neutered & up to date on vaccinations. The adoption fee is $500. Thanks for the details! Based on this, we can craft a blog post that highlights Gunner's unique personality and his need for a loving home. Here’s a draft: --- Meet Gunner: Your New Best Friend in Need of a Loving Home If you're looking for a loyal companion with a big heart, meet Gunner, a sweet and loving German Shepherd mix. Gunner is in search of a new family to call his own, and he's ready to show you just how much love he has to give. Gunner's Personality Gunner is a friendly, affectionate dog who thrives on attention and love. He's a true "clingy" companion who will always want to be by your side. Whether you're relaxing on the couch or out for a walk, Gunner will happily keep you company, giving you all the loyalty and affection he can muster. While Gunner is generally warm and loving, he does need time to adjust to new people and situations. Once he’s comfortable, though, you'll have a devoted companion who’s always there when you need him. A Few Quirks to Know About Gunner Like many dogs, Gunner has some quirks that make him all the more endearing: Sleep Startling: Gunner may startle when he's waking up or while he's asleep, so it’s important to approach him gently if he’s napping. Howling: Gunner may occasionally let out a howl, which is part of his personality and could be his way of expressing excitement or alerting you to something. Dog Selective: While Gunner loves people, he can be a bit selective about other dogs. He'd do best in a home where he's the only dog or with a dog he gets along with well. No Cats, Please: Unfortunately, Gunner doesn't get along with cats, so he needs a home where there aren't any feline friends. Gunner's Story Before arriving at the rescue, Gunner lived in a loving home where he was pampered and cared for. Unfortunately, due to his sleep-startling behavior and a baby on the way, his family made the difficult decision to rehome him to ensure a smooth transition for everyone involved. Why Gunner Needs You Gunner is a sweet, loving dog who just needs time and patience to adjust to new surroundings. His affectionate nature makes him a great companion for someone who’s willing to take the time to build trust and form a deep bond. Gunner deserves a home where he can feel safe and cherished, and he has a lot of love to give to the right family. If you're looking for a dog who will give you endless affection and loyalty, Gunner might be the perfect fit for you. Please consider opening your heart and home to this loving pup. How to Adopt Gunner If you think Gunner could be the perfect addition to your family, please reach out to The Rescue Connection for more details and to schedule a meet-and-greet.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Warren is a younger guy (1 to 2 years old) who was found as a stray on a rural property. He was held for the legal stray hold and no owner was ever found, so he came to us on 11/11/2024. He looks mostly like a German shepherd mix, but there could be other breeds in there like cattle dog and husky. He has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped, and his fee is $150. Warren is a larger, strong boy who will require some good, consistent training and good exercise. He seems pretty well mannered and loves to be with people. He needs an experienced owner who can set clear, firm boundaries with him. We're not sure how he would do with other dogs as he can be possessive of toys and food. Cats? Most likely a no. No kids for him as he does need some training and still demonstrates some puppy behavior (mouthing and jumping). He'll definitely require some regular brushing to keep his coat fabulous! A fenced yard would be perfect for Warren until he perfects his leash skills. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.resuegroups.org. Keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 14, 2024, 11:56 am

Story
Monaco is a very handsome 9 month old German Shepherd mix. He does very well with other dogs.. He attaches quickly to his people and is affectionate, loving, fun, and sweet. He often thinks he's a lap dog. He is well mannered in the house and housetrained. Monaco knows how to walk on a leash and enjoys getting out for adventures. He rides well crated in the car. Monaco is fully vetted, neutered, and ready for a home of his own. He will do well in a home with a fenced yard for playtime and potty time but also does well offleash on acreage. Monaco would do best with older or no kids in the home and he's still learning about cats so probably best without cats at this time. He is a snugglebug that enjoys lying on the couch next to people with his head in a lap. He is a loyal and loving companion. His adoption fee is $375 to help cover some of his vetting costs.
