Story
Handsome Axel is from a litter of Shepherd/Pyrenees puppies we rescued from a shelter in June 2023. We have watched him grow so much and he is so ready for his furever home! High energy Axel really needs an active owner. He would love to be your jogging companion or go with you to the dog park or any body of water. Fun loving Axel loves all kind of toys and playing with other dogs. He would love to have a canine friend to play with in his furever home. Axel is ok with cats, but sometimes will chase them in play. Happy and sweet, Axel enjoys attention from people. He is great with children and would do well with ages 8 and up- due to his energy level and size he might knock littles over on accident. Axel is potty trained and tells his foster mom when he needs to go out. He does ok on a leash and knows some basic commands. 1 year old Axel weighs about 100 lbs. He is neutered, up to date on core vaccines, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. Being fostered in Robertsville, MO Adoption Requirements: *A 6 ft fence *A home check *A vet check which includes having at least a two year vet history Adopters can be located in Missouri and surrounding states: Kansas, Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois.

Story
Coco was a rescue from TX and is two years old. There was some fear reactivity that we worked on with a personal trainer for a while. Unfortunately, with three young children and two other dogs we did not have the right amount of time for this breed. Coco is a GSD mixed with mostly collie breed dogs. She is very sweet and cuddly when she feels comfortable. She is highly intelligent and very playful. She is very easy to train and picks up on things faster than any dog I've had. She's also extremely food motivated. Coco is reactive with other dogs and can be fearful of new people and situations. With the right amount of time and practice she warms up and is a truly wonderful dog. Our older female does not like her and as Coco gets older the dominating games are getting too intense for a home with three young children. We do love her and want to make sure she finds a good home. She loves our male GSD but may need to be in an only dog house due to her reactivity with new dogs.

Story
Hi, I'm Elsa! I am a 2.5 year old lady with lots to say. I'm an eager beaver and love to go for long walks or play any games as I'm playful as can be! I must admit, I'm not the biggest fan of other dogs or cats, but I promise I'll be your loyal companion. Give me a chance please... If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2177060##

Story
Hello, I'm Boris. I was found dumped on the side of a ditch with nothing but my friend and a blanket. Thankfully a nice person helped get me and my friend to the shelter and offered to foster us. I'm a sweet boy and look to be around 4 years old. My history is a mystery but I'm friendly and loving. Story
I've been sponsored by the Petfinder Kia Grant to help reduce adoption fees. Thanks to the wonderful Petfinder Foundation my adoption fee is only $25.00! Hiya, I'm Finn! I am a 3 year old German Shepherd/Husky mix (best guess). I'm quite the chatterbox. I love to 'talk' to anyone who'll listen. It's my way of saying, 'Hey, let's be friends!' I've got enough energy to keep up with the most active of families, but I'm also a champion snuggler when it's time to wind down. I'm looking for a forever home with someone who loves playtime and cuddles as much as I do. If you need a brave, loyal, and hilarious sidekick, I'm your guy! I do good with other dogs as long as we are properly intoduced. However, I do need a home without cats as I like to chase them. I would do best in a home with older children due to my active nature. Did I mention I'm working on training right now? Well I am and I can tell you that I am the best at 'sit' and 'down' that any dog could ever be! Adopt me and I promise you won't regret it.
