Story
Meet Quiet Violet! This girl doesn't bark, so if you need a loud guard dog, you'll have to look elsewhere. Violet actually "speaks" rather than barks, and only for mealtime. Violet is searching for her retirement home as she's around 8 years young now. She does well with short walks as she's had two TPLO surgeries, but it doesn't stop her from playing with squeaky balls in the yard! She is Miss Congeniality with other dogs and people alike. Treats, food and squeaky toys are all Violet's favourite things! She's also very clean and house trained. Violet's dreamhome wishlist: > A rural or suburban home. Violet is good with cows and horses, but not a fan of big city life. > A home with or without another balanced dog. > A mature home without young children (older teens okay). > Someone who works from home or is retired to ensure Violet gets enough "me" time. Hiring a dog walker or a family who work alternate hours would be other options. > Someone who wants a lifelong companion that will cherish Violet the way she'll cherish them! Story
Introducing Coco: A Loyal, High-Energy German Shepherd Mix Ready to Find His Forever HomeMeet Coco, a 3-year-old German Shepherd mix with a heart full of love and energy! Coco is a loyal and affectionate dog who thrives on human companionship. He loves people and is always excited to be around his family. However, like many dogs of his breed, he has a strong pack mentality and would do best in a home where he’s the only pet—or with another dog he’s comfortable with, like Koda (they can go home together, but they must be fed separately). Coco is looking for an experienced, active family who can provide the structure and mental stimulation he needs to be his best self. While Coco is a loving and playful dog, he will need some basic training and guidance to help him refine his manners. He tends to resource guard, so his new family should be prepared to work with him on this behavior. Coco also needs a strict enrichment schedule to keep his mind and body engaged, preventing boredom or anxiety. With the right environment and dedication, Coco will make a wonderful and loyal companion.Training & Behavior Needs:Basic Training: Coco is smart and eager to learn, but he does need some guidance with basic commands and overall manners. He responds well to positive reinforcement, so consistency and patience will go a long way in helping him build better behavior. Coco will need regular training sessions to help him stay focused and well-behaved.Resource Guarding: Coco does tend to resource guard, particularly when it comes to food or treats. He will need to be fed separately from other pets in the home, including Koda. His new family should be prepared to work with a trainer on this behavior to ensure a safe and calm environment during mealtimes.Excitable & High-Energy: Coco has a lot of energy and can get overly excited at times, especially when meeting new people or in exciting environments. He’ll benefit from structured exercise, play, and training to help him manage his excitement and direct his energy in positive ways. Coco thrives on activity and will need regular physical and mental challenges to stay happy.Pack Mentality & Other Pets: Coco has a strong pack mentality and is not good with other dogs. While he and Koda get along, they are not bonded and should be fed separately. For the best chance of success, Coco should be the only dog in the household, as he can get frustrated or overwhelmed by the presence

Story
Meet Marley: A Shepherd Mix Seeking a Patient and Understanding HomeMeet Marley! This handsome Shepherd mix is estimated to be about 1 year old, and he`s on a journey to find a loving home where he can heal and thrive. You may recognize him from Quinte Lost Paws, who recently secured him. During his rescue, Marley was understandably stressed, which led to some aggressive behavior—this is quite common for dogs in high-stress situations. Since arriving in our care, Marley has been very shut down, making it difficult to assess his full personality, behavior needs, or compatibility with other animals at this time.Marley is looking for a home that can offer him patience, understanding, and a fresh start. He’s not yet comfortable enough for us to evaluate his behavior in detail, including how he interacts with cats or other dogs, so we recommend a home without children, cats, or other dogs until we can better understand his needs and provide further guidance. We know Marley has a lot of potential, and we’re hopeful that with time, patience, and the right person, he will start to open up and show his true, loving nature. If you have experience working with shy or stressed dogs and can provide Marley with the time and care he needs, he may be the perfect companion for you.We will continue to update his profile as we get to know him better and help him work through any challenges he may face. If you think you can offer Marley the quiet, patient home he needs, we’d love to hear from you!

Story
Name: Atlas Breed: German Shepherd Dog Sex/DOB: MN 2/22/22 Known Health Issues: None at this time. Good With: Confident, calm dogs. Patient Teenagers, that can actively participate in his training, may be okay. Dog savvy cats and 110% commitment to training if he is to live with cats. He is very determined/grabby in his play. NO DOG PARKS. Atlas is fun loving, goofy, very affectionate and handsome! BUT he is not the dog for everybody. If you LOVE training and enjoy working with more challenging dogs, read on! Atlas is a dog that bonds intensely to one person. If you want a dog that only has eyes for you, Atlas is your guy! He has come a very long way since arriving in my care, and is now quite confident out and about as long as everyone is neutral. But he is not a dog to let strangers approach or try and interact with. He has boundaries, and needs them respected. Atlas is it go anywhere, do anything type of dog. He absolutely loves to be with his person! Typical to many High Drive type shepherds, he can be a little vocal, and having patience is his biggest challenge. But he truly wants to work with you and cooperate. He does still have a little bit of handler conflict, and while he's very mouthy and oral, struggles with games of tug and similar because he does not want to create conflict with his handler. But he absolutely loves to bite and grab onto things. It's a work in progress, and with consistency and one-on-one I know this is a barrier he will overcome. Atlas is very athletic, and absolutely loves the water! He would do well in a wide variety of sports, and I would encourage his involvement due to his working brain needs, as well as confidence building. He's not likely a dog that's going to take you to multiple ribbons, but he's going to have an absolute blast with you, and you will achieve many personal goals together. He is absolutely not a dog for somebody that just wants a casual companion, and needs that daily engagement, to keep him happy and balanced. Due to his discomfort with new people, his successful adopters must be willing to meet him several times, before he will be potentially ready to leave. Patience, and time are key. He has made great strides, but change will be hard for him if that bond isn't there. I do not want to see him regress. His successful home must be committed to continuing his confidence building, and expanding his world and activities so that he can be his absolute best! Atlas is absolutely FULL of potential, and I can see him doing well in a wide variety of sport activities as he continues to gain confidence. If you're up for the challenge, and Atlas has caught your eye, please apply here: https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/36354114-niagara-falls-ontario-german-shepherd-dog ________________________________ Adoption through Inugoya includes: - the dog - All vaccinations & required boosters; DA2PPv, Bordetella, Lyme, Leptospirosis, and Rabies - 4DX Blood Test (Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis) - Age appropriate wellness blood screen - Fecal test - Deworming & Flea/Tick/Heartworm prevention - Spay/Neuter - Microchip - Hip xray for all dogs that undergo anesthesia - All medical needs assessed and concluded. Story
Name: Storm Breed: GSD Sex/DOB: FS 10/26/19 Known Health Issues: None at this time Good With: Dogs. *MUST HAVE ANOTHER DOG IN HOME TO ADOPT* Cats possibly okay with strict training. Patient and calm persons, who respect boundaries. No kids. Patient, dog savvy teens will be considered. NO DOG PARKS. Storm is a very soft dog, and needs a lot of time, space, and patience. What she doesn't need is coddling, and someone to trap her in her past. Her successful adopter must be dedicated to continuing to work with her, expanding her world slowly, but consistently, and giving her life skills to build upon. If your first instinct is to feel sorry for her, she is not the dog for you. Storm absolutely thrives with other dogs, so much so, that it is a requirement to have another dog to adopt her. She will look to them for guidance, confidence, and direction. She gets along with most other dogs, with some selectivity with certain females. Care must be taken, to make sure she is still worked independently of the other dog, to prevent separation anxiety, and littermate syndrome issues. Storm loves the outdoors! Once she is comfortable in a space, she shines. She runs, and plays, and leaps for joy! Due to her personality, she is a significant flight risk initially, and needs a secure, fully fenced backyard to access. She will happily spend her days out in the yard, especially if you are out with her. Storm is incredibly goofy, and loves to make you laugh. Her favourite item is her food dish, and she can often be found carrying around, or just laying and holding it! Sturdy dishes recommended! She has the warmest personality, which she reserves for her special person. She's not looking to have a large social circle, so a quiet home, without many visitors suits her best. She wants to be your one and only. Storm would love to dabble in some backyard sport activities to help her confidence grow. With enough time and patience, she may even do well at events, but time will tell. She is toy motivated, and loves to retrieve. If she sees another dog performing a task and getting rewarded, she is very quick to imitate! Her food drive is low, but could built. She'd rather work for your praise! If you think you have the time, pateince, and dedication for my special girl, please send in an application. She will require several meets, before she would be ready to potentially move out. ________________________________ Adoption through Inugoya includes: - the dog - All vaccinations & required boosters; DA2PPv, Bordetella, Lyme, Leptospirosis, and Rabies - 4DX Blood Test (Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis) - Age appropriate wellness blood screen - Fecal test - Deworming & Flea/Tick/Heartworm prevention - Spay/Neuter - Microchip - Hip xray for all dogs that undergo anesthesia - All medical needs assessed and concluded. Story
Name: Nellie DOB/Sex: 5/3/23 FS Breed: GSDx Known Health Issues: GI Tract Abnormality. Seeing MOVH March 21st. Good with: Dogs! Cats with proper training! Kids with proper boundaries! Little Nellie is a pint sized bundle of fun! She was sold to her previous owners as a single breed, but I'd bet good money she has something else mixed in. She is very small, and very finely boned. But she has a big personality! Nellie gains confidence well, and is very excited to engage with new things. A little patience goes a long way! She has a very 'in your pocket' personality, and wants to be with her person, and work! She has started in an agility foundations class and loves it! She is a soft dog, which makes her very responsive to body pressure, and easy to guide. She is very engaged with her handler, and works well around distractions. She appreciates her space being advocated for, and does not like strange dogs approaching uninvited, and will look to her handler for guidance. It is important that her person be willing to intervene, as she is currently very neutral, and failure to do so, will lead her down the reactive path. Nellie has already taken a dip in the canal, and proven to be a swimmer! Even though it's not exactly swim season 🤣 I can definitely see some dock jumping in her future. She loves to run, leap, and chase, and would be suitable for just about any canine sport (not a bitework candidate). She is a super fun little dog, oozing a ton of potential, and raring to go! Though we are investigating some GI issues, she's happy to move home on a foster to adopt, to start settling in. She doesn't need to wait in rescue while her diagnostics are completed. Let's get her home 😊 Application: https://form.jotform.com/233466598767073 ________________________________ Adoption through Inugoya includes: - the dog - All vaccinations & required boosters; DA2PPv, Bordetella, Lyme, Leptospirosis, and Rabies - 4DX Blood Test (Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis) - Age appropriate wellness blood screen - Fecal test - Deworming & Flea/Tick/Heartworm prevention - Spay/Neuter - Microchip - Hip xray for all dogs that undergo anesthesia - All medical needs assessed and concluded.
