Story
Meet Stanley!Stanley is a 3-year-old long-haired German Shepherd with a stunning tan coat and a long, fluffy tail. His chestnut brown eyes and calm demeanor make him a wonderful companion for those who enjoy a loving, intelligent dog with a big heart.Personality and Traits:Stanley is a bundle of energy with a gentle and affectionate nature towards people. He’s always eager to please and enjoys being hugged and brushed. Stanley enjoys playing with balls and listens well to commands, making him a joy to train. When his energy is spent, he enjoys lying beside someone or asking for affection from his owner. His friendly disposition extends to strangers, as he’s good at calmly meeting people or walking past them if necessary. He has lived in a home with other large dogs and cats perfectly fine, so he could be compatible with other animals in the home.Special Considerations:Stanley needs regular grooming for his long fur to prevent matting and skin issues, so a family willing to maintain his coat will keep him looking and feeling his best. Luckily, he is excellent at being professionally groomed, only having issues with air being blown in his face and his paw pads shaved, but with enough exposer he’ll get better about them. While he can be good with the right dogs, Stanley does have a bit of fence reactivity, especially if the dog on the other side is also reactive. This can be worked on to not be an issue, but it would be best to supervise him when he’s out in a yard if you neighbor other homes with dogs.Stanley’s Ideal Home:Stanley would do best in a home where he is the only dog and where he can get plenty of attention and regular grooming. His new family should appreciate his affectionate nature and be prepared to meet his grooming and training needs. Why Adopt Stanley?Stanley is a loving and intelligent dog who will bring joy and loyalty to your life. If you’re looking for a resolute companion who’s got that on and off switch from play to calm and is willing to be trained, Stanley is the perfect match. He’s ready to become your faithful friend and striking buddy!

Story
My favorite things are playing with Jolly Balls, in water and snow, and I LOVE anything that squeaks. I am extremely food and toy motivated, which makes working with me easy and I have learned several commands already. When my foster parents leave me at home I stay in my kennel or doggie area without issue, and I respect barriers like baby gates. I have never destroyed anything in the house, and I alert you when I must go outside. Clearly, I'm smart and I really love to play, but I also love belly rubs and naps throughout the day. I can be a little sensitive at times. When I see dogs on a walk or new people come into my house, I can be a bit reactive. However, with the trust and relationship we will build together this can be managed and reduced over time as I am doing so with my foster parents. I have never met a cat, but when I see them from afar my natural prey drive can kick in. My ideal home would be an active, single pet household with no small children and a fenced yard. I would do best with someone who has GSD experience who can give me the structure, training, and enrichment I need to continue to thrive. Bonus points if you love long walks, hike, jog, and live an active life that we can share together.*Qualifies for Senior-to-senior program*Qualifies for Pets for PatriotsPlease email adoptions@slco.org for more information Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: Black Weight: 78 Age: 9yrs 0mths 0wks
