Story
We have had shepherds for 50+ years. Along w Sage, we have 3 other older shepherds. They are 11, 7 and 3. All well trained by us and behave amazingly. We got Sage as our oldest dog was getting on in years. Sage is a very smart, inquisitive dog. She's into exploring everything. She want to please you when you are one on one w her. Treats are not her thing. Positive reinforcement and petting makes her day. She might take a treat today but tomorrow she won't even lift her head for it. She does better one on one. She loves playing w the other dogs but when they are together, play is the only thing she knows. She becomes the Alpha, at 10 months, and they go happily along. Alone, she knows her boundries and what she should be doing but w the pack, she gives the orders and they follow. She has shown no aggression, lays at your feet in the house. I just think she deserves more time and more attention than I can give her in my current situation. She loves water & swimming =

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.King and Queen are looking for a new home! Their owner has had major health issues and can no longer care for them as needed. They have been outdoors on an electric fence their whole life, so they will need to  not been around other dogs outside of each other or cats but have been super friendly with people. Preferably shepherd experience since they haven't had any exposure outside of their home. They can be adopted separately and would do best separated.King is a little reserved and looks for guidance/reassurance from his human or a dog companion. We believe that he would do best in a home with another dog since he lacks the confidence on his own. We are happy to do a meet and greet with potential adopters to be sure it is the best fit for the whole family. This is a courtesy listing for the owner of these dogs. Please apply if interested so we can put you in touch with the owner.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 16, 2024, 9:31 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. We were surprised when we ended up with our very own sporting dog who looked like a Belgian Malinois, but is not, and we’re thrilled that a dog trainer who has two similar looking dogs was willing to take him in and work with him. He is one year old, and was neutered before leaving us for foster care. Turns out this boy can jump! And not just jump, but do mighty leaps without being trained! he gets along great with other dogs, which is a huge bonus, and we look forward to him getting some direction with his dog trainer friend in the next few weeks. We don’t know what his working capabilities are, but his athletic ability alone means he will be fun to be a sports dog! And maybe some bite work would be enjoyable along the way? to find out more about this 60 pounder, you can write to us at FOACinfo@gmail.com!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 12:11 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Venus and her sister Serena were signed over to the Campbell county shelter so that we could help them find new homes. The girls are safe and a foster home with a knowledgeable foster mom who says they are doing great! They do not need to have one another around in order to, feel comfortable, and they are not protective of one another when they are together. It was good for them to be together initially for the transition, but we feel very comfortable with them being adopted to knowledgeable German Shepherd lovers! They appear to be social with other dogs,  and are willing to learn family dog training! To adopt Venus, or her sister Serena, start with an application which you can find on our website.    PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at FOACinfo@gmail.com. All adoptions begin with an application, found under the "Animals" tab on our website, friendsofcampbellcounty.org. *Unaltered babies under the age of six months can be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, and counties touching Campbell County. *Unaltered adult pets six months or older will need to be sterilized before they can be adopted outside our local area of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell. *We do not promote dog adoptions to homes where an invisible fence is the fencing of choice. *We do not permit cats or kittens to be declawed following adoption.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 12:11 pm
