Story
Lily is a sweet 6-year-old German Shorthair Pointer mix who has found herself at a shelter after the death of her owner. She loves water, fetch, and squeaky toys. Lily is a strong girl with plenty of energy. She would make a great running partner once she has a little help with her leash manners. This girl is so athletic that she has been known to jump some fences. We recommend a 5-6 foot fence if your yard is fenced in. WGSPR was told she had some resource guarding with food/toys/space around other dogs. We sent her to a trainer to work on her basic obedience and to assess her for resource guarding with other dogs.  The trainer has not seen any resource guarding with people or dogs. She has been very neutral with other dogs.  The trainers have had no issues taking toys from her.   Lily has a high prey drive because that is what her breed is known for, and she would love to put it to good use and hunt with you. Lily is still with the trainer and any approved adopter will go meet her at the trainer's facility.  The trainer will assist in picking a family for Lily that meets her needs. This girl is ready to find her new forever family. ##2215847##

Story
Marley is the sweetest girl. She loves to cuddle with you and take naps. When she first came to us she was timid and shy. The poor girl wasn’t sure of anything and would scare easily. However, as the days go on she is coming out of her shell and we are seeing more of her personality. She always wants to be with our two other GSPs and she loves playing with them. She is learning how to play ruff and wrestle with them. She is more on the submissive side. She learns fast though and is respectful of them. When her two foster siblings are done playing they let her know and she is fine going off and laying on her bed to chew her kong. She LOVES her kong, especially if you put some treats or peanut butter in it. She appears to be food and treat motivated so we have been using treats to work on manners / training. She hasn’t been much of a barker but occasionally she discovers her voice and then likes to let out a few barks. She makes the cutest noise when she yawns. She is doing great on potty training. She sleeps in her kennel at night and usually goes to bed around nine. She is usually good for 6 hours and then will whine if she needs to go outside. Then she goes right back in her kennel and sleeps until 7. She is learning to stand in front of the back door when she needs to go out. She occasionally gets too busy playing and forgets and has an accident but they are becoming less and less. She would do great in any type of home. She does great with our kids. It might take her awhile to warm up to new people but once she does she is the biggest lover. She is more confident when she is with our dogs so another dog in the home would be great!  ##2281350##

Story
Introducing Nova, aka Princess, Diva, Mimi, or Itty Bitty will steal your heart at her first hello.  Greeting you with a kiss on the lips and her bags in tow, wastes no time in adjusting to a new environment.  She walks right in as if she owns the place from the start, and she is ready for her forever and always home.  If I had one word to describe Nova, it is "easy'.  She is easy to foster, easy to love, and easy to incorporate into any new routine and environment.  She is kennel trained, house trained, e-collar trained, command savvy, and smart as a whip.  She is good with people, pets, children, chickens.  She travels perfectly in a vehicle, even unkenneled, sitting and looking out the window the entire time without a peep, ready for any adventure.   This precious petite little pointer is packing it in at only 41 pounds, but could use some more exercise to trim her up a bit, but who doesn't need to lose their winter weight?!  She enjoys to be active, and would love to be more consistent with a structured exercise routine.     She absolutely thrives as a chicken herder.  She will fiercely protect your flock as she constantly tries to herd them to keep a watchful eye on all your feathered friends.  Don’t panic as you think she will pounce on them after her perfect pointer poise, she either boops them with her nose to move them or gently paws them and says “tag your it” and runs to the next bird.  She is in her glory watching over  a flock.  With her perfect pointer poise, agility, and lightning quick speed she shows potential as an absolute hunting machine, given the proper training.  She is waiting to show you her mad skills.   No chickens, and/or not a hunter, no problem, this girl does it all!  She easily engages in self-soothing play, especially to start off her day, excited to show you her energy after her perfectly kenneled night's sleep.  You will swoon over her affection.  She is a hard snuggler of a lap dog that makes you appreciate her small frame.    So, if you are looking for an easy pocket pointer, look no further as this little sweetness will surely steal your heart.  This diva deserves only to be pampered! ##2106679##

Story
Meet Tamara – A Gentle Soul Looking for a Loving HomeHi there, my name is Tamara, but my foster mom calls me TamTam, and I love that name! I’m a very special girl with a gentle heart, and while I can be shy at first, I’m slowly learning what it means to feel safe and loved. Before I was rescued, life wasn’t so great, and it made me a little fearful. But thanks to my wonderful foster family, I’m beginning to trust again. It took me some time to warm up, but now I feel safe with my foster parents and my GSP foster siblings, Maddie Mae and Forrest Fire. I especially love snuggling up with Maddie Mae in a big, comfy bed—something I never had before.Loud noises and raised voices still make me a little nervous, but I find comfort in quiet moments, especially watching TV with my family. Just recently, I started taking treats from hands, and I’ve learned that hands aren’t scary—they give belly rubs and snuggles, which I now happily roll over for!I’m a very good girl in my crate and go in all by myself. I absolutely love food (except carrots—yuck!), and my foster dad says I’m a great listener. I ride really well in the car, and I walk nicely on a leash without pulling. I’m even working on giving kisses—my foster mom makes silly kissy noises to help me practice!I still need a patient and loving family who understands that I may take a little time to open up, but once I do, I’ll be the most loyal and grateful companion. Could you be the one to give me my forever home?Love,TamTam  ##2274571##

Story
Bow is a 3 year old male with lots of energy and excitement. He loves to be active outside, sniffing and exploring, chasing rodents and birds or playing fetch. He requires a lot of exercise and can do it on his own as long as his owner is present. He does not like to be left out alone or left behind when you go somewhere. He is crate trained but has had free reign of the house with his foster and had no issues when left for several hours. He gets very excited to see you return and must be let out immediately to avoid any accident.    He is very affectionate but not really a snuggler. He likes to be close to you and put his head on your lap but not be on top of you. He loves to sleep under the covers and warm your feet on a cold winter night or will curl up in his dog bed if you tell him to. If exercised, he is a great sleeper and is not an early riser.   He likes walks but needs some help on a leash. He is a very good running partner. Off leash, he is beep collar trained and responds great to the tone, returning very consistently. He has a high prey drive for birds and rodents but has not been trained to hunt. He does love exploring the high grass, woods and creeks and chasing after anything that moves.   Bow is vocal and will bark at strange noises and people and dogs that walk by. He is good with other dogs and came from a home with a golden retriever. His prey drive with cats might be a problem. His food drive is low and has shown no signs of wanting human food.   If you have the time and energy to give Bow the attention and exercise he needs, then you will have found a perfect dog for you. ##1490533##
