Available to foster or adopt!Breed: Golden Retriever X DOB: 3/2022 Gender: male Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: large Color(s): gold / white Description:***Needs a Foster Home***This dog is in need of a foster home as well as a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online foster application.Hi, I'm Smiley, a handsome Golden Retriever X rescued from a Salinas shelter where I was found as a stray. No one came to claim me and I was lucky enough to have many people follow through with their pledges to sponsor me so I could come into CARL's adoption program.I like toys and I'm very treat motivated. I'm very sweet meeting people, but I'm a big boy and tend to jump up a bit so although I haven't been around children, I would probably do best in a home with older bigger children. I don't really react to other dogs and I can walk in tandem with another dog, but I can be a bit testy in playgroups at the kennel so as a safety precaution I wear a muzzle. I hope it's not long before I'm a cherished member of a loving family. If you're interested in meeting me, please fill out an online application.*Thank you to all the people who are sponsoring this wonderful dog at the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary and giving him the chance for a better life.August 15, 2024, 12:05 pm

Story
We adopted our Golden Retriever, Panda, as a puppy in 2017 and treated him like our child. He’s a loving, gentle dog who enjoys playing fetch and running on the beach. However, our lives have changed—we now have two young children and both work two jobs to afford living in California. We can no longer give Panda the time and attention he needs. Panda is a happy, friendly dog who has never been aggressive. Last year, he recovered from surgery for a mast cell tumor and is expected to have about seven more years to live. We’re looking for a new owner who can provide Panda with the active, loving home he deserves. No adoption fee is required, but a donation to a dog rescue organization would be appreciated. We hope to find a young person without children, or someone whose children are grown. Please consider giving Panda a loving home and send us occasional photos to keep us updated on how he’s doing. Thank you.

Story
I lost my husband almost 2 years ago. I have trouble walking my dog and it’s too hard for me at my age. I’m moving into a Mobile home park because I have sell my house to survive financially. This decision was not made lightly and am very upset over it but I want what’s best for him as well as my safety.

Story
We are relocating and need to place our beloved retriever with just the right family. Henry is big, rambunctious, smart, sweet and a wonderful companion. He has been well trained, and with consistency that training will be maintained. Tender with children, he loves to swim, roll around in mud holes right after a bath, and steal your freshly prepared dinner off the kitchen counter. Pleasantly plump, with an admitted Milk Bone addiction, he is otherwise in excellent health. He was fixed at two, to give him the best chance of avoiding athletic injury, and has had none! This is a heartbreaking personal decision for us and we do not take his placement lightly. He will need lots of exercise, a yard, a shade tree, and at least one stay at home human to shadow. He will not countenance a family that doesn't embrace his spectacular personality. He will also give you his loyalty for life. Put simply, he is an exceptional dog who will need an exceptional new family. Are you the one?
