Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Forest is a wonderful work in progress. He is a mixed breed guy who has been with us since Dec., 2021. We didn't put him up for adoption right away as he was very shy and shutdown. Some of our wonderful volunteers have been working with him, taking baby steps, and we think he's ready to transition into a forever home. However it will have to be a very special, secure, and patient home. Forest has been fully vetted and his fee of $125 is sponsored. Forest originally came to rescue from a Reservation in South Dakota. He was on the run for quite a while before he was live trapped. He's a mature adult who could now be close to 7 years old. He is still extremely shy but responds well to treats and kind words. He's learning to go for walks and enjoys it. We think he would be okay with a well mannered, somewhat confident dog. Due to his shy nature, he's looking for an experienced ADULT only home (teens are fine). We have no way of knowing about cats. SECURELY FENCED YARD REQUIRED. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications can be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 10:55 am

Story
Tootsie is a beautiful middle aged gal. She was found as a stray in a neighboring community. She is estimated to be between 5-7 years old and if she could talk she`d say she is in the prime of her life! Her breed(s) are unknown but she appears to have some bird dogs in her lineage. She`s a perfect 51 lbs. and has a wash & wear coat!Tootsie is pretty firm in her beliefs. She absolutely loves chasing the ball and running with her foster dad. She absolutely wishes cats did not exist. Tootsie absolutely believes humans are better than any other reward on the planet. Tootsie, also, absolutely does not want to share her home with any other canines.Tootsie can be made to appear as if she a handful, a problem, questionable. When she first came to us we were concerned about all of these things. But we know one thing. Tootsie craves praise and adoration from her people, and she has proven that day after day. She wants this. It is an incredible thing to witness a dog shed the old persona and try a new one on, especially a reactive dog. She`s not always going to get it right, so she needs people that will continue to have her back and not try to make her something she is not. Tootsie needs to be the only pet in the home. She has made huge improvements and is now comfortable walking past and casually being around other dogs in passing. Beyond that she is an easy keeper. Want to go for a long hike? She`s your gal! Feeling like a couch day? She`s got the snacks. Tootsie is going to love her new humans with every fiber of her being. Who doesn`t want that kind of adoration?Tootsie is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations. She has also tested negative for heartworm disease. Her adoption fee is $300.00 plus sales tax. Please submit an adoption application to find out more about our Tootsie!

Story
Jack is a 7 year old male AKC registered Golden Retriever. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations. We have had him since he was 8 weeks old. He is house trained, knows basic commands: come, sit, stay, shake. Could use some leash work - he does walk nice with a gentle leader. He is a big boy at 92 pounds but such a gentle teddybear. Jack is great with other dogs, children and all genders of adults but unknown if he likes cats. LOVES to play fetch with his tennis ball! Needs space to run and play or go to dog park daily. Jack does have seasonal allergies and gets itchy when spring comes. Benedryl helps. Experience with a golden retriever would be best considering his age. Like all Goldens he SHEDS!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Tootsie, the goldendoodle with a tale as fluffy as her coat! This little lady had a rocky start, but with a little time and trust, she's blossomed into a loving companion. Tootsie's not one for the limelight; she's more of a backstage kind of pup. Her real passion lies in the company of her furry friends. Yep, Tootsie's all about the pups, not so much the humans. Tootsie's perfect match? A home complete with a fenced yard over 4 feet tall and a doggie friend for companionship. Cats are a no-go for this gal as she seems to have a high prey drive when it comes to small critters. What else does Tootsie need? a quiet environment to call her own, and a family who gets her – boundaries and all. If you're thinking of bringing Tootsie home, you'll need more than just love; you'll need a deep understanding of her unique needs. Tootsie's not your average pup, but for the right family, she's the missing piece to the puzzle.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Mindy (Penny) – A Heart Ready to Bloom! Mindy, lovingly nicknamed Penny, is a beautiful Goldendoodle X who is just beginning her journey to discovering what it truly means to be a dog. As a breeder release, she has spent her early years in a different environment, and now she’s learning about the joys of home life—belly rubs, cozy naps, and the magic of toys! At around 3 1/2 years old, Penny is experiencing everything with the wide-eyed wonder of a puppy. Every sound, every soft bed, every gentle touch is new to her, and she’s taking it all in at her own pace. She is learning to trust, to play, and to love, but patience will be key as she continues to build her confidence. With this being said, a home with another dog will be best for her as she learns the ways of the world. Penny will do best in a calm and understanding home where her humans will celebrate small victories with her—whether it be her first time alerting you to let her out to potty, her first time sitting when asked, or learning the joys of leash walks and car rides. She may be shy at first, but once she feels safe, her sweet and gentle nature shines through. Penny is not kennel trained but does well alone and has shown no destructive behavior. A Comfy dog bed and some new toys are all she needs. She is also working on potty training and is getting better every day. As she has started to become mor comfortable in her foster home, she has started to find her voice so a home with no shared walls is required.  If you're looking for a special soul to nurture, guide, and watch blossom, Penny is ready to take that journey with you. With time, love, and patience, she will reward you with a lifetime of gratitude and companionship. Could you be the one to show Penny the life she’s been waiting for?Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal?
