Dunne, which is pronounced “Dune,” is a very special boy who made the journey all the way from Afghanistan to come live in Minnesota. He is a sweet, gentle, 50 pound golden mix born 1/1/22. He is just starting to adjust to his new surroundings and has learned so much in the last few weeks. Poor boy has not had much for socialization, we are working with him but needs more time to learn to "be a dog" we recommend he is the only dog for a while. Dunne loves to be around his people so much that being kenneled is hard for him. He is not a fan of the kennel, he gets calming treats when we have to leave or when he has to be in his kennel. He loves car rides and loves to be brushed and pet. He nudges your hand for neck scratches. He also loves getting a bath. He is very concerned about pleasing others and is easily trained.  He has a very mild, sweet disposition with a low energy level. He would probably love a doggie companion to help show him how cool it is to be a dog in the USA. He will be a dedicated companion with lots of love to give. Meet Rocket, the happy and adventurous Golden Retriever puppy born 4/6/24! Rocket has a confident spirit and he is very friendly and outgoing to both other dogs and people. Rocket approaches children and adults with the same happy energy. He is very comfortable in his pen area—for overnight and naps, or just hanging out with a toy. He sometimes yips when left in his pen area but stops almost immediately. Rocket is nearly house trained already, and is totally paper trained—he just can’t make it outside all the time yet! Rocket’s tail is always wagging, and he is always looking for more fun things to do. Rocket is definitely a snuggler and loves human contact. He does best with an active family and loves being outside, although he is still learning to be comfortable on a leash. Rocket seems to love any kind of toy, from sticks to balls to stuffed animals. Rocket does best with a resident dog that is patient and lets their friendship develop. Independence is an adorable Golden Retriever born 3/23/24 who weighs approximately 10 pounds and has a soft and fluffy coat. He is a very sweet boy who loves snuggling with people and being petted. He will close his eyes and soak in the moment when getting a good ear or belly rub. He loves to follow his people around and will be your constant companion. He is also good with kids and would make a great family dog.  Independence loves spending time outdoors - swimming, playing in the grass and chewing on sticks and leaves. He is good with other dogs and enjoys wrestling and playing with his foster siblings. Independence has been generally curious around other animals and seems to do okay with cats.  Like all puppies, Independence is still mastering the art of potty training and learning basic commands, but he is a quick learner and very eager to please. He has made progress with routine trips outside in his short time in his foster home and has had minimal accidents inside. He has learned to go to the door or stairs when he needs to go out. Independence does well in his crate, sleeping quietly for most of the night and only needing to get up once to go potty. My name is Sophia, and I'm a four-year-old Golden Retriever. I weigh a lovely 50 pounds and have a calm, gentle demeanor that makes me the perfect companion. At home, I'm a pretty laid-back girl. I'm a bit shy around new people, but once I warm up, I’m your best friend for life. I absolutely love watching squirrels and other little woodland creatures out the window—it’s like my own personal nature show! I'm not a fan of loud noises or overwhelming commotion, so I prefer a peaceful environment. When I was around my foster mom's cousins, who are 8 and 10, I was a bit wary when they got loud, but I handled it well. I'm potty trained and always do my business outside. I'm also crate trained and find it quite cozy. While I don’t require a fenced yard, I'm still working on my leash training. I walk on a leash daily and am a work in progress at times. I know a few obedience commands like "Kennel/Crate" and "Leave It," and I listen well. I only bark when I’m alarmed, so I'm pretty quiet most of the time. I get along wonderfully with other dogs. I’m a calm and cuddly girl who loves to be wherever you are. I enjoy looking out the window, and I listen well. I'm sweet, easy to take care of, and will quickly become a cherished member of your family.
