Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi! This is Pennie, the most beautiful looking Great Pyrenees and Golden Retriever mix.  Pennie is originally from Texas. She was rescued from a high kill shelter and was severely malnourished and timid when she entered rescue. Since coming from Texas, Pennie has gained some weight, and it really shows through her soft, white fur. Because Pennie went so long and often without food, she understandably still worries about getting it and protects her food and treats.  She needs to be fed separately, away from other animals and people.  Pennie also tends to be protective of her area and possessions. Her kennel seems to be her safe haven, and this is where she has been sleeping at night and goes when she needs a debrief from the other animals in the home.  Pennie needs some work when it comes to learning basic commands such as “come”, “sit”, “stay”, etc.  It’s unknown if she doesn’t obey to commands because she doesn’t know them or because she doesn’t trust yet.  Pennie has a sweet and cuddly side to her, and we think with time this will become even more apparent. She will nudge your arm when she wants some attention and jump on the couch next to you. She loves to be outside running in the yard or laying on a pile of dirt. We also discovered she loves to be in cold water. Overall, she has done well playing with the resident dogs and another foster dog in the home (males and females from 4 months old to 14 years old-small and medium/large breeds).  It will be important to do slow introductions and have supervision when she is around other dogs. Pennie has enjoyed getting attention and belly rubs from the children in the home (ages 7 and 11), but using caution when doing so. Pennie would do best in a home without shared walls.  If you think that she would be the perfect addition to your family, please fill out an adoption application today   If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. Story
I bought Millie at 8 weeks old. Her birthday is 3/21/15. She was spay on 8/31/15. When I bought her I was given a American Kennel Club Registration. I did not submit the registration since I was keeping her stricly as a pet, not for breeding purposes. I still have the application. Her most recent exam and rabies vacination was on 10/18/23 and is good for 3 years. She is typical Golden Retriever. Likes treats, playing fetch, being near people and receiving attention:) We had a cat and two dogs with no problem. She has not lived in a house, she is outside almost all of the time. In the winter she has a dog house which is inside of a milk house (barn room) with straw on the floor and a flap door to an outside kennel. I think she could be trained to be an inside dog, but she has always been outside. Our old dog is being put down next week, and I do not want Millie to be alone outside, and we are not getting another dog.
