Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi! This is Pennie, the most beautiful looking Great Pyrenees and Golden Retriever mix.  Pennie is originally from Texas. She was rescued from a high kill shelter and was severely malnourished and timid when she entered rescue. Since coming from Texas, Pennie has gained some weight, and it really shows through her soft, white fur. Because Pennie went so long and often without food, she understandably still worries about getting it and protects her food and treats.  She needs to be fed separately, away from other animals and people.  Pennie also tends to be protective of her area and possessions. Her kennel seems to be her safe haven, and this is where she has been sleeping at night and goes when she needs a debrief from the other animals in the home.  Pennie needs some work when it comes to learning basic commands such as “come”, “sit”, “stay”, etc.  It’s unknown if she doesn’t obey to commands because she doesn’t know them or because she doesn’t trust yet.  Pennie has a sweet and cuddly side to her, and we think with time this will become even more apparent. She will nudge your arm when she wants some attention and jump on the couch next to you. She loves to be outside running in the yard or laying on a pile of dirt. We also discovered she loves to be in cold water. Overall, she has done well playing with the resident dogs and another foster dog in the home (males and females from 4 months old to 14 years old-small and medium/large breeds).  It will be important to do slow introductions and have supervision when she is around other dogs. Pennie has enjoyed getting attention and belly rubs from the children in the home (ages 7 and 11), but using caution when doing so. Pennie would do best in a home without shared walls.  If you think that she would be the perfect addition to your family, please fill out an adoption application today   If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. Story
Sunshine is a beautiful and friendly 3 year old Golden Retriever. Initially when she came into rescue, she was very timid and shy. Now her favorite thing is cuddling up with her human on the couch. She also really enjoys stuffed toys and will usually have one (or several) wherever she goes. Sunshine gets along well with both of the resident dogs and the resident cat. She has been friendly to everyone she has met and loves attention! One fear she is still working on conquering is going outside. When Sunshine goes outside, her teeth will chatter, she will drool and pull to try to go back inside especially if there are any loud noises. Because of this, she hasn’t quite conquered potty training yet. She is 100% trained on potty pads when she is indoors and will go potty outside when she goes out. When she has to go, she has a tendency to try and go to her potty pad first. I think a fenced in yard where she could freely explore would be ideal. Sunshine had a hard start to her life but has come so far already in such a short amount of time. With a loving and patient family to continue her progress, she will be an excellent addition to any home!    Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $450.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 10:58 pm

Story
Dunne, which is pronounced “Dune,” is a very special boy who made the journey all the way from Afghanistan to come live in Minnesota. He is a sweet, gentle, 50 pound golden mix born 1/1/22. He is starting to adjust to his new surroundings and has learned so much in the last few weeks. Poor boy has not had much for socialization, we are working with him but needs more time to learn to "be a dog" we recommend he is the only dog for a while. Dunne loves to be around his people so much that being kenneled is hard for him. He is not a fan of the kennel, he gets calming treats when we have to leave or when he has to be in his kennel. He loves car rides and loves to be brushed and pet. He nudges your hand for neck scratches. He also loves getting a bath. He is very concerned about pleasing others and is easily trained.  He has a very mild, sweet disposition with a low energy level. He would probably love a doggie companion to help show him how cool it is to be a dog in the USA. He will be a dedicated companion with lots of love to give. Dunne is a blank canvas and would love to have a person that will love him and teach him how to be the dog he knows he wants to be.   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Hi, my name is Peony but my foster mom calls me Awnee. I’m a female Golden Retriever born 4/6/24. I am a very happy and snuggly girl. I love people, kids and other dogs. My foster mom has taken me swimming in the pool. I do okay but she thinks I’d do better in a lake where I can enter slowly. I haven’t used a leash but I did have a harness on and didn’t seem to mind it. My foster mom thinks I will be fine on a leash. I am doing well learning to sit, stay and lay down. I don’t really care for my kennel but I don’t mind being in a pen. I was outside during the fireworks and I slept through the whole thing so I don’t think loud noises will be an issue for me. I ride well in a car and just lay down to sleep. I am alone when my foster mom runs errands and that is the one time I know I have to be in my kennel. Otherwise, she is home most of the time. I do sleep through the night. I will bark when I am frustrated but stop fairly quickly. I am not house trained but do use a potty pad. My foster mom thinks I will pick this up pretty quickly with a schedule. I am a fun loving, snuggly little girl who is looking for a family to spend my life loving and being loved.  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Noodle and his sister Strudel were dumped in a high kill shelter in West Texas. They are high energy puppies and are very loving. They want to play with everything... goats, cows, people, other dogs and cats (so non dog savvy cats would not be good with them). They will be altered prior to adoption however before that happens they will be available for foster or foster to adopt. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training.   First priority will go to someone who lives in the twin cities metro in order to bring to a vet visit.  Please put in your application on our website mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 20, 2024, 1:32 am
